I am replying to everyone who has sent me PM's. Twenty of you and counting. Some I don't even recognize as posting here.:confused3 So many of you have been kind to me before. I actually am worried for the person, because the outfit was a "borrowed" inspiration. By no means exactly the same, and she did all of the designing herself in her computer, but... This woman is wonderful, and I got to thinking about how nasty some things have been on here and e bay. I got some snarky e mails when I bid on Castles Minnie outfit. So I posted it, but then got afraid. I'm not sure who exactly the bad guys are here. so in order to protect the seller, and hopefully keep her doing things for me:goodvibes , I took off the e bay id. Sorry if I have offended anyone. I know lots of people have been very nice to me, and given me lots of "things" incognito, but for a rare time in my life, I am actually intimidated by the jerky people!

My Joann still has it. I saw it there yesterday, and it's 30% off right now. If you still can't find it I'll be happy to pick up some for you. I'm planning to buy some to put away for future outfits for my girls.

Thanks, I'll check Hobby Lobby tomorrow and then let you know.

I'm so sorry that you feel this way but with some of the drama in the past, it's understandable. Isn't it sad that things have come to the point where we have to fear posting? I've learned so much from every single post-either a technique,an idea,or just how plain sweet my fellow DISsers have been in encouraging and helping others. Unfortunately, I've also learned how petty some people can be after a couple of incidents.

Ok- I am a non-sewer but am inspired to try something!!! I love the ribbon jeans and thought this is what I would do...anyone willing to offer advice/corrections? I would love to hear it!

I have a pair of capris with a wide enough leg that there should not be any seam ripping - phew!!! I was thinking I would cut all the ribbon to the same length (5-6 inches) fold them in half and tack with a bit of fabric glue. Then use fray check or the lighter method on the ends.

Next planned on using the fabric glue to get them on the capris on the inside. Then, I was going to take one of the ribbons and circle the leg with it on the outside and sew that down at the top and bottom of the ribbon. Would love to hear what to do where the circled ribbon ends meet - suggestions?

Does that make sense? Does it seem like it will work?

Thanks!!

I understand completely.

Are you talking about the smaller 'accent' ruffle at the bottom?
I hem the smaller ruffle first and then just sew on like you did the rruffle tiers of the body of your dress.
I actually start at the bottom and work my way up attaching to the bodice last, this way the tier I'm attaching the gathered row to is not already gathered. Does that make sense?
I may not be sure what ques you're asking.

I think that makes sense. (I attached the layers to the bodice also.)

I guess is there a way to make it look neat on the inside? My other tiers not so pretty.

Also . . .

This is the smocking plate I bought today. My disney ones are taking forever!!!

You know I love all the help you give all of us and I hope that these negative people go away quickly. I fear posting pictures of my creations when they are completed also. Not for fear someone will copy the design (hey if anyone wants to copy what I have made go ahead!!!) But for fear of jelious retaliation. which is what it all is. I hope to keep posting pictures of my items I am making for our 2 upcoming trips, but there is fear that nasty people are getting rude.
I am sorry this too is happening to you also! I will keep posting and following rules to the "T". I justt learn to delete the nasty pm's! I beleive you can block individual people from pming you in the control panel. That is what I do!

I think I need to join the oversewers anonymous. I am leaving for Disney tomorrow and I haven't packed yet. Umm the custom clothes are hanging in the closet altogether and that's as far as I have gotten. The suitcases are in the same closet and I need to do a couple loads of laundry or DH won't have any underwear.:lmao: THat wouldn't be to bad but I am wondering if I have enough time to quickly sew a camp shirt for DS before we leave!~:rotfl2:

I love the celery shirt idea! Not dumb at all! I can't wait to see it. I better get packing.

HOLY MOLY, Nancy!! We are leaving in 95 days and I already have one suitcase packed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Get packin' girl! Can't wait to see some pics of the family in customs when you get back! Have a magical trip!

Here are the first two dresses.

This is the green and blue Mickey print. I am proud to say I made my little one a moo moo! :rotfl2:

Keep in mind we are not going for seven months- well six months 29 days. Who's counting. In the last nine months DD grew 5 inches. I am not going to sew the straps in yet. I am goind to wait and do that the week before we leave. That way I can make adjustments.

I bought the green striped St. Judes fabric. I really want to add a ruffle but I do not know if I should. I could take a couple inches off the dress and then do it. Also do you think I should add a tie somewhere in the middle of the dress so I can tighten the waist. She is just do skinny!

Here is the nemo outfit for MGM. She is going to wear it in the morning before we go to the princess lunch. There of course she will change into a gown!:cutie:

I used nemo blanket binding on the bottom hem.

The baby is also getting a coordinating nemo dress. Thanks so much to whoever posted the previous nemo dress!!! Obviously we loved it!

LOVE the moo-moo!! You did a wonderful job on them both! Your DD looks thrilled as well! Great job!

I've only done it twice but here's what I did.

1) Laid a piece of fabric just a but larger than needed right side down on a flat surface and then laid the overall bib, also right side down, on it.

2) Marked the fabric lightly outlining the sides and top of the bib. I then cut the fabric with at least an extra inch around those 3 edges and long enough that I knew it gave me plenty of length to cover the bib to where I wanted it.

3) With the bib right side up (RSU), I laid the cut fabric RSU on the bib centering it so the extra was evenly distributed. I then folded the fabric under along the sides to the width of the bib and pinned the fold in place but not pinned to the overalls. I did the same along the top following a stitch line of the bib that was just under the buttons.

4) I pressed the fabric carefully to set the folds and trimmed the excess fabric from the 3 folded edges. I measured also cut it to length with seam allowance added. Since I was adding a ruffle at the bottom, I didn't fold under and press but I would have without the ruffle.

5) Once the ruffle was attached and the fabric bib was pressed nicely again, I pinned it in place and stitched as close to the edge as possible around all 4 sides.

I hope that made sense. Here's a photo of the finished overalls in case it helps.

I think some people will follow a similar process but make the fabric large enough to cover the whole bib and then put button holes in the appropriate spots so they could be slipped over the overall buttons before the fabric is stitched in place. I considered doing that but and actually liked it better with the top edge of denim than if I'd covered the whole thing. I'll admit I also decided it would be simpler to not have to worry about trying to stitch alongside the buttons. ;)

Thank you! I think I am ready to try my hand at this again.
The quote you have is a combination of my question and a similar question Tina asked and part of a post from Nancy. Somewhere along the line our posts got combined...my dis-name and her sig but we both had the same questions so no sweat. Sorry, rambling.
Thank you very much. and what a cute pair of overalls! Love the ruffles! I think I may need ruffles...that will have DH rolling his eyes for sure  tee hee :rotfl:

How have I missed this thread!!! After I post this I am off to view the previous pics! The first 3 pics are from our trip to DL - and the last is of DD in an outfit we just received in the mail today for our trip next month! I have two more outfits being made (a Tinkerbell and a Hannah Montana), and I am working on embellishing a pair of jean capris to match a High School Musical T.

Thanks for understanding! Yeah I deleted a lot of not so nice Pm's, and am moving on...live and learn!!:teacher:

Can I ask a dumb "newbie" question? Feel free not to answer if no one wants to. What are the issues on here and on ebay? Why are people jerky/snarky? I thought the whole point of this thread was to share and support each other as we create clothing for our kids. Does it have something to do with copying designs? I just want to be sure that what I do is safe, especially if I get to the point of posting the outfits I make for my DS/DD. Could someone enlighten me?

I have never used that brand, but have purchased some from Hobby Lobby. They go up to $9.99 but sometimes are 50% off and other times, I just use a coupon. One shirt I did for my daughter has been washed many, many times and (oops) even dried a couple of times. And it still looks great!
Well, here is a picture.

No Hobby Lobby in my neck of the woods.
They look great! I looked at our Michaels and found nothing, I'll try Joann tomorrow. In the meantime I found a couple on a certain auction site I think I need ;)

I love shopping on "that auction site". Am I allowed to share a cool boutique? I think it was called "The Pedal Pushers" or something. She has a good eye for color and lines. I love her pillowcase dresses, and she is for sure a huge Disney fan. Is she one of you? :)

I just bought something from her this month! Not Disney, actually, but a pillowcase dress with chenille daisies for my DD2. I love it so much!

Would you, Tom, or anyone who bookmarked it, post the link that Tom shared with us for making hairbows? I saved the page but the text didn't save. I'd like to find the page again!

Thanks in advance!

See, I knew I'd found kindred spirits when I opened this thread. LOL I knew I had a problem when I was at the cutting counter and before I could tell the woman the length I needed, my then 3yo DD said "We'll take all of it". I realized that too often that's exactly what I'd say myself so I've tried to really scale back. The most I'll buy now is 5 yards unless I have a specific need for more - and I never really do. Still, I know if I added up what I've spent for fabric in my stash, I'd think of it in terms of how many Disney days that would have bought me instead. :thumbsup2 Here's a photo of just some of my stash.

Your dresses are awesome. I really like the Nemo dress! Great job on these.:thumbsup2

Here is the skirt that I "dreamed" up after my son woke me up and I couldn't go back to sleep. It was inspired by someone else's HMS skirt.
What should I do for the top? I was thinking an applique megaphone with either GO TEAM or EHS on it. Any other ideas.

disboutique021.jpg

I made one like this also. No pattern, just a random thought. So, maybe we are getting subliminal messages from our fellow dissers...:rotfl: :rotfl:

you've created a fabric collecting addict out of a newbie... I even went to Hancock's today and bought 5 patterns (you would think this is hilarious if you knew me). I also bought some more fabric... (THIS TO ADD TO THE 3 boxes of DISNEY FABRIC)

This was from an online store that I rec'd in the mail today . . . not Disney but cute:

And, I found this at Hancocks-- I thought it would be great for when we eat at Prime Time Cafe....(now I know I'm freaking out -- making outfits for Disney restaurants) ANY IDEAS ON WHAT I CAN DO WITH IT?

Fabrics8-2-07002.jpg

By the way : Aimeeg -- -love the nemo dress!!!

I love this fabric! It does scream 50's scifi~ Maybe a 50's style bowling shirt?

I used the iron on bling to add the skull and cross bones to my daughter's dress:

100_1554.jpg

Wow, I felt like I haven't posted in forever. Love all the new outfits! I just finished a project but my youngest is in the bathtub yelling for me to turn on the water. I'll try to pop back on later.

I saw that pirate bling and wondered what I could use it for. :rotfl: Now I know!:thumbsup2

Okay, someone on here is being nasty and rude and that's not okay. :sad2:
I must not have posted anything they were jealous of, because they havent been snarky to me yet. ;)

LORI123 You must be on this threads wavelength. The red polka dot skirt looks like the fabric everyone on here is talking about finding at Wmart! ;)
