I'm sorry I'm so pitifully behind!! I've been busy (sewing and other stuff)

I have a plea....

Does anyone have just ONE YARD of this Mickey fabric?
blue_checked_denim_sm.jpg

I decided to use it for a dress, but I'm short the fabric for the huge 'flutter' sleeves. Please tell me someone has some they'd be willing to part with! DH wants me to make the sleeves dark blue but I don't think that would look as good. (samples posted below)

If so, send me a PM please because I don't have a lot of time to read/keep up with this huge thread right now. I glance over posts, but am afraid I'd miss a reply.

Thanks SO much!
Robin

I'm not an Amy or a Lisa of any spelling but my name is Tifani and I buy too much fabric. Yes, ever caught in the proverbial "what if I theres not enough" state of mind.

For all of you out there complaining about your basic sewing machines or wishing you had something fancier...Last night I wanted to reconstruct an old mens oxford into a clever tank top for me(liked the thought of mixing the man-ly blue pinstripes w/ something girly)

My MIL has been busy w/ projects of her own. My machine is at my moms. I went to pick it up and she says, really it's acting up I should have it serviced for you- you can't use it now. BUT she has this handy dandy Singer my grand just picked up at a yardsale for 5 bucks ( I don't know it was that cheap but I do KNOW my Grand so I'm sure it wasn't more-it's possible it was free) I look at this ancient NO, WAIT.. IT'S VINTAGE machine and say, yeah but how do I change the stitch..you don't, my mother replies just the size of the stitch. NO zig zag. UM, I can' twork w/ this...SEW'S LIKE BUTTAH!!! and after reading the original 1941 handbook I see that among the 20 crazy attachments I found and have NO CLUE how to hook up- a RUFFLER!!

Now I'm not going to say to hell w/ a satin stitch this is the only machine I need, however I am going to be learning how to attach that darned ruffler!!!

Heres a pic-I found it on e-bay (current bid $149) though I can't convince my mom to sell it. It has the original EVERYTHING including the bottle of oil it came with. and is in mint condition. no pitting no damage brand spanking new looking.

Haven't put the straps on my shirt, I'll be sure to post it when I do, who knows I may just add a little mickey to it for good measure!

My walmart section has it hanging over the "Buy the yard" ribbon. The coins are on a black trim.

Thanks! I found it, but didn't get any because it was $4 for 4 feet! I'm way too cheap for that! LOL!

The hang-bags will hold APPROX. up to 3-4-5lbs, but that's totally depending on the type of hangers & tape/bags, you use ... It works GREAT for patterns, bits of fabrics, unfinished projects, projects-to-do, etc. ;)
For YARD-S of FABRIC = try the mini-bolts in a stackable tub/bin or on a shelf. ... That should have your area straightened up in no time, and with little cost! Have Fun. :)

The link to the hangbags instructions has been added to the links page that's in my siggy, teresajoy's siggy, and the very first post in this thread. If you find any good links, just PM me or teresajoy and we'll get them added. Thanks!!

And back on topic, I found an old mickey mouse twin sheet at good will and since it was $2 HAD to buy it thought I might make myself a dress or a skirt. See, what you've done to me... I'm off to my mom's to make a tank top for me out of a guys oxford shirt to wear out to my DH's gig tomorrow night. I keep wearing the same thing over and over so I decided a reconstruction was in order. I'll keep you posted, though it's not a dis thing.

...t.

I would love to see pics of the tank top when it's done!

I too have found myself looking at used sheets at garage sales and such. I never thought I'd actually do that!

Just got back from Hancock (99 cents McCalls patterns, limit 5...I got back in line!!!)

I wish they were doing that sale online! Either that, or I wish we had a Hancocks around here!

UMama, DD wants that Kitty skirt! Now I will have to see if our WallyWorld has it or not. I think that they are slowly getting rid of the fabric dept., but I did notice some new stuff in there the other day while I was getting some notions!

If you haven't already, make sure you e-mail WalMart and urge them to keep the fabric departments. http://walmartstores.com/GlobalWMStoresWeb/navigate.do?catg=221
You can also call at 1-800-WALMART. Enough people complained about several of our local Walmarts getting rid of fabric, that they brought it back!

Well, I have saved all DS clothes that seemed like they could pass for DD. I had no big plans for them, then I found you all :) So, I dressed up some 18 month overalls - Maybe she can wear them to CP breakfast in Nov.

These turned out really cute! I never would have guessed they belonged to a boy at one time!

:cloud9: sweet dreams of fabric dancing in your heads and outfits to post on tommorows thread.:woohoo:

LOL! I go to bed every night and I can't sleep because the images of my fabric stash and all the possibilities keep going through my head.

t-beri - What a fun find!

I have an antique foot pedal machine.
It was my great great aunt's. She taught me to sew on it when I was little and left it to me.
I love that thing, but everytime I move, the people helping me hate it!

Cool machine!

I'm excited to see you tried a pettiskirt:thumbsup2 If you actually go back to doing them I hope you share it....Is this for the disney cruise outfit? I'm guessing the $80 Kaiya Eve skirt almost seems like a bargain :-)

I did throw out 15 yards of chiffon with a pettiskirt pattern still attached. My children heard some words that only truckers say...that day...:rotfl:

I custom make an autograph book for my DD for every trip. I am truly a scrapbooker, but hang out on this thread because I am also obsessed with custom outfits. The attention my daughter gets from the autograph books is amazing. I have had characters carry it off to show another character their page. It makes my daughter feel special and I am beaming from ear to ear!
Here are a couple of photos.

I thought that was you! I can't wait for mine, that outfit is incredible!!!!

Those are wonderful! I'm more of a scrapbooker as well and have so many ideas running through my head for the kids' autograph albums. Thanks for sharing your ideas!

Doesn't that drive you NUTS!!!:rotfl:

I just got the Hancock's ad in my e-mail and they have the 99 cent patterns online! Here's the link: http://www.hancockfabrics.com/category/viewAll.x/10/2712.html

They also have free shipping on orders over $25 with coupon code EFSZWD.

I haven't tried to combine the free shipping with the 99 cent patterns yet. But, I fully intend to!

ETA: The patterns pages are loading REEEEALLLY slow. I also realized it's still a limit of 5 patterns/person, so you'd have to find $20.05 in other items to get free shipping.

I have been working all morning on my 3 tiered ruffle pants. Have any of you tried them...What a job. I'm almost finished and I will post photos tomorrow...We have thunderstorms here today..But anyway I decided to make them Animal Kingdomish, With minnie dot on the top and bottom tier and leopard print in the middle. They look really neat and would be perfect for a day at the theme parks..

Why is it on days when I'm too busy to be here theres Popcorn and 20 pages of posts to catch up on, but when the boss is out I'm here all alone...

Wish I was sewing w/ you Elisa.. or that you were doing my sewing maybe. Yeah, that would be better. I still have to add the straps to my tank top and I'm trying to decide if I'm going to add some girly like lace or ruffle or somethin.

Of course once I get out of work I'll be in a mad dash to finish up, cause it's an hour away to where DH is playing. It may be a tube top if I don't have time:rotfl:

The amazing top/dress!

I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE this. I want to do something like this for my son. I don't think DH would approve of the twirl skirt but I bet DS would have fun with it! LOL.
We are HUGE LE fans here.

Okay ladies, I spoke with the woman whom did my Little Einsteins designs, and she said I can pass on her e bay ID. I hope this is within the rules here. Please remember that she did my appliques, but Obsessed With the Mouse did the sewing.

Tell her I sent you please!

Maureen

Oh Lisa, I can't wait to see these! I am watching your apron top on ebay! I'm actually stalking you now:hippie: Are you gonna post the pictures of how you sew the cuffs to the shirts? You know us "slower sewers" need picture help!:rotfl2:

AgentPleakley –
And I have a confession.
I spent 19 dollars on 2 yards of fabric yesterday.
It has celery on it.
For me to make a shirt for our DIS meet.
How dumb is that?

That sounds like something I would do :lmao:

I don't have the fabric but I found this same print on some of those denim patch pieces...I don't know what they are called, but its over with the Heat n Bond, and is used for patching jeans or something, its iron on. Sorry I know it doesn't help but I am pleased to find out there is a possibility of matching fabric.

I love the sewing prayers you guys are posting. Amen!

I was at a local store (Pacific Fabric) looking at fabric and the like and we were all done, had our fabric cut and had paid for it, the kids and I were loading into the van, actually they were both buckled in and I was hearing the "lets go home" chant from my DS4. Then I looked up and saw the sign on the door "Butterrick Patterns .99 cents" and some small print I couldn't quite read. Ahhhhhhhh! I almost unloaded the whole clan to check it out, but I didn't. I could just hear it a double meltdown in the pattern department. So, I am thinking of going back to see what the small print says, and maybe pick up the pattern for that apron top some of you have made.

WOW!!! They don't make things like they used to! :hippie: 1941!!!!!

A Ruffler!!! :cloud9:

I OWN a ruffler. Seriously considering a new machine that it will attatch to!

All of our hancocks closed down so no ad!
wait they match ads!!!! even on sewing stuff!!!!!!!!!!!

I went to the 3 walmarts that carry fabric and nothing! none of them have seen the minnie dot!!!!!!!!!!!

Lori

oK, DON'T PANIC. I found it next to the clown prints. In "my" Walmart, it was on an end-cap. I've also seen it mixed in the $1-$2 fabric bolts. Whenever I ask about it, the ladies point out a smaller dotted version. :confused3

castle and anyone else with the embroidery machine experience -

How do you easily thread the thread thru the Q foot?
It's a pain in the rear!
Especially if you have lots of color changes.
I keep a pair of tweezers right by my machine just for this purpose. It makes it a little bit easier.

Do you have the Brother Disney Embroidery machine? I just got mine about a month ago. I love it! Have you found any of the embroidery cards? My Walmart doesn't carry them. I guess I'll end up ordering online.

i just got back from Hancock's where I picked up only 3 .99 patterns, and WalMart where I picked up the ENTIRE BOLT of minnie dot fabrid. 12 yards. What on earth am I gonna do with 12 yards of minnie dot fabric? I don't know, but I'll have fun figuring it out, I figure!
