My question is does anyone have any ideas for high school musical. I want to do something cute for dd6.

I was just thinking about doing an outfit. What I'm going to do is use red and white smaller polka dot fabric for the bodice of a top, stitch "HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL" on the front, and then use different coordinating fabrics....such as a music note fabric print...

Good luck!

Hello! We are Ravens season ticket owners! I haven't made my daughter anything for the Ravens yet. I'd love to see your outfit! We only VERY rarely have any Ravens stuff for sale around here. Crazy 'cause there is always tons of Redskins (yuck!) and Nationals and Orioles, but not Ravens. The dark purple must not be popular here on the shore.:confused3

My dad is a ticket holder also and I can usually pry away seats for one or two games for me and DH (he has 3 seats). there is nothing like being at a game! I will post pics this weekend---I am still teaking it a bit. I see that you are on the shore---where abouts? I am headed to OC at the end of August. Love the beach, this is the second trip this summer. I know I have asickness b/c I was thinking of doing some beach inspired customs when this trip was planned 2 days ago but my plate is a little full with disney customs at the moment.

cant wait to see it! im working on a ravens twirl skirt for dd! shes not into football but dh will think its cute. i also mader her an orioles themed skirt for her first game- orange black and white- which can be used again next month at halloween!

One of my projects "to do" is a twirl skirt for DD to wear with her jersey. I picked out a bunch of fabric today but still want a football print to add in there. I know I saw some that I liked online but I cn't remember where. I can't wait to see yours---you have to post it! Love the idea for the O's skirt doin double duty for Halloween. I will have to keep that in mind for next year---she will be 5 so hopefully still into the custom bit since I am just discovering it and we are done having kids.:sad1:

I just found a site with some really cute knit fabrics. But I have never used knits before other than a couple appliques.
I think I should get a pattern or two for shirts before I buy all this fabric.
Any favorite patterns for knits?
Any tips for sewing on knit?
would spray starch help?

This is one of the fabrics.....
Mickeyoncloudsknit.jpg

It screams PJs to me. But the others I like I am thinking shirts, maybe raglan style for DS?

Do you mind giving me the site for that? I am making pillowcases for the kids to get characters to sign and that would be perfect for the edging on the side. I am going to have "Disney Dreamin" embordered on the center of the pillow and have the characters sign with fabic pens. I have no time to do the custom autograph books that I usually do since they tend to be about 150 pages a piece:scared1:

I need ideas ladies!

I have purchased osh kosh railroad overalls for the kids (DDs is a dress and DS I need to turn into shortalls) for them to wear to the Choo Chool Soul concert. I need ideas on embellishing them also if anyone knows sources for me to find appliques of maybe the train or the logo that would be great. Put those thinking caps on!

Ok, I am going to be making this soon:

Question...Should I use the standard red gingham as shown or use this gingham:

redblack.jpg

Keep in mind that the outfit has to match this one:

If I use the red/black gingham, will it match my daugther's outfit? Which one looks better?

I like the standard gingham. It looks more like a barbeque/picnic.

OT - but so cute!!
DD's birthday is coming up and she's having a princess party. (Go figure!!) I wanted special invites and this is what I found!!

OK, went to wal-mart and spent way too much time and money. I didn't receive an answer to my question about appliqueing and using the tac over again stuff so was hesitant to buy too much true Disney for me and dd. I did buy several outfits though!! Found 2 pairs of the cutest shoes too!!:woohoo:

I bought several tanks to do the mickey heads on for dd. Can anyone tell me how to do the pirate mickey. I believe I saved the mickey head that was posted but I need toknow how to do the bandana on his head. I bought the coin trim and am going to try and put it across the bottom. We're going to try and attach an earring to his ear too. I bought the rhinestone cross bones to put on her shorts.

I have the fabric to do the animal print. going to work on that one first and see how it goes. I hope my machine can handle the knit to applique. It's a little tempermental like I am. :furious:

Any help on the pirate mickey head or applique tricks are much appreciated.
thanks

I would ask for a refund...just based on the hole...LOL...Unless the seller lists that the item is used, and some do use, previously worn demin...YUCK!!, they should issue you a refund...if they aren't willing to take the item back, I would ask for a partial refund...

Hi Lisa,
They were listed as new. The seller is giving me a full refund for these so I am satisfied. I also ordered a size 5 for DD4 and they were fine. The size tag was also still in DD4's overalls. After I tried them on her I took them off and looked for the size tag because I knew they could not be a 7 and I saw that the tag had been cut out. I wrote the seller, told them they were way too big, asked about the missing size tag, asked for a refund or a replacement pair by a certain date or I would file a dispute with emails and pictures to back it up. They got back to me right away and told me they would refund my money . DD was disappointed but I'm working on that :) .

Blessed Be,
Tina

Tina--

The overalls weren't like a distressed denim, were they? I embelished a pair of overalls once and they had holes in them, but only because they were "distressed".

Linda,

No they were listed as new. I was the only distressed one. :rotfl:

These are dresses I made for my three little girls for the twin 2 birthday. we took them to Disneyland. I wasn't going to make one for the oldest until I came across a polka dotted moo moo at the swap meet for 2.00. I bought it and took it apart and had about 1 1/2 yards to work with. The pattern for her dress was made from three different patterns I had. I am excited to hear what all of you lady's out there think I love all your work. It was my first time sewing dresses with sleeves.

Love them! Too cute!

Well, here is the Wiggles outfit. I am not really finished with it. I am changing the ruffle on the pants. It will be one of the ruffles that goes on top of the hem, so I can hide part of the appliqués. They came really big so I am going to cut them in half and it will look like they are peaking out of the ruffle. I hope :) I technically am not doing the appliquéing. I had to call a seamstress to do them since I really messed up the small one I tried on the back. I should have the outfit back by Friday. I will post updated pic's when it is really finished.

Anyway- This is the Butterick apron dress. I just lined it with fabric, so I didn’t have to use the seam binding. I also pieced together the back out of all the Wiggles colors, since I could not get Wiggles fabric in time. Please be honest about what you think. I don't want DD to look silly.

*** Disclaimer*** this is the first real outfit I have made. I have never used a pattern before. It is not perfect, but I think it is ok! Also, DD will have matching bows (I make them), a white tee under it and I am not sure on shoes. I wanted M2M, but I don't have time to order them and my drawing skills are worse than my sewing skills. So I think it will be keds, with matching ribbon instead of laces.

I am also open to any ideas you all have to spice it up a bit. I don't want it to be clownish, just Wiggle Fabulous :)

Thanks for looking.

Absolutely no disclaimer necessary! The outfit came out wonderful!

We are off to Cheerleading in five minutes but . . .

Here is the Pooh Pillowcase dress I did for Sophee. The arms are way to big for her but it will fit perfectly in March. I used antique ribbion I had been saving for years! I think it looks nice together. Hannah is getting a halter pooh dress to match. That is next on the agenda.

Great use of the toile and nice touch with the antique ribbon.

Here is my latest CASE outfit. It was my first attempt at the halter style dress. At first my older DD said she didn't want one but then she saw it on her sister and decided she'd take one too. :)

Thanks for all the great ideas.

Nice! I have the same fabric and your pics confirm to me to pair it with lime green.

What are you all lining your bodices with? Most of DD's lined bodices are a thin, almost see through material. Is there a name for this or does anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks!
I asked at Joann's and was sent to a section marked "linings." I bought the thin stuff and hated working with it so I'll be looking for something a bit thicker next time.

I really need to log on everyday! Whew tons of posts :)

Here's some new stuff I've been doing

There's still more NBC stuff sitting here waiting for me to finish.Boo me.

Love the fabric! Very nice.

I love the outfit the way it is...maybe some pink and black matching hairbows...LOL...I love the Minnie head on the shirt...where did you get it...it's perfect..

I took the Minnie off a tank I got on clearance from Kmart. They also had Ariel, Mickey and Tink.

To be honest, that dress was one I kind of made up as I went along. I don't remember all the steps to even begin to document them. LOL Unless I get another request for something like it, I probably won't make another one. I really prefer dresses like this for my DD if I'm making her something dressy.

I really like the way the patches are staggered. Do you have a trick for the order you lay out your squares?

Here is a picture of Ocean City from my house. This is the view from the second story of my house. Not a pic of my house. About 2 minutes by boat. What you are seeing is the Carousel Hotel on 118th street.

We have been Ravens season ticket owners from the beginning. We only have 2 seats though. I actually am grateful for that, because I almost bought three becasue we only had one child, and then we had 2 more, so someone would always have been left out. Actually since the #3 kiddo, we end up selling the tix on "the site that must not be named." The drive and the time away from the kids, the cost of a sitter, is just "WOW" anymore!!

It would be fun to do a Cheerleading skirt with coordinating fabrics.

When I was little the Carousel was my absolute favorite hotel! I loved the indoor ice skating rink! Are you on the bayside?

We are thinking about heading down for a day soon. My Dh needs to figure out when he can take a "sick" Friday. That way he will not come back to work with a sunburn!

It is a small world after all. (I know so cheesy.):rotfl2:

You guys all have great talent!!!! I really wish I could sew something. I have this great sewing machine, and have no clue how to use it. I wish I could find someone in my area to teach me.

We actually live in Ocean Pines on St. Martins river , which leads into Assawoman Bay. Yep it IS a small world after all:rolleyes1 How appropriat for this thread!

Someone posted a while back asking for a drawing of Zero of Nightmare Before Christmas. Has this been done and I missed it? I'd love to see something that i could copy like that awesome Mickey head about 500 pages ago. Oh yeah a Jack Skellington head would be cool too. Pretty Please!!:goodvibes I bought some black and white fabric from Walmart that looks like Oogie Boogie. I really dig NBC. It's the one movied DD sits down and watches. It must "play" with her mind!

Thank you!!! I love the things you made for your daughter!!! She is so cute!

That is my DD in the 2nd picture and the pattern I used was this one: http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M5083.htm?tab=infants_toddlers_children&page=4

It has the directions for a plain back and the split back with ties.

I have also used this pattern for the plain back too: http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M5351.htm?tab=easy_stitch_n_save&page=2

These patterns are sooooo easy. I have made the pants capri length and full pants too!

Here are some of the clothes that I have made with those patterns.

Welcome, its hard to just watch around here. I used this pattern for a pillowcase dress. I don't know if its the easiest but I like the elastic in the neckline.

Oooo! I like! Can you get the loose crystals at any local stores or just online?

Oh my Hello Fellow Marylanders! :grouphug: My family will be in Camping Griswald's neck of the woods on Thursday, my sister is in OC til Saturday and we're going down to stay a day or 2 with her.I live in the burbs of Baltimore County. We're big Raven's fans too. We were up at training camp last Thursday. DD 7 caught 2 footballs kicked by Todd Heap ,she was surrounded by all these bigger kids and she just stepped right up and caught both of them. Todd Heap , Ray Lewis and some of the other guys on the team were laughing about her catching them, and told the ball boys to let her keep one, but the ball boys made her give them back, she was not a happy camper .

Blessed Be,
Tina
