thank you.. one last questions... did you use the swarovski or rhinestud

I used swarovski simply because that's what I had started with. I think I want to try the rhinestud ones because they are so much less expensive, but I haven't used them yet.

thanks... I am going to go with the rhinestud since I need over 400 per shirt and I am doing 2 shirts. Ofcouse the color I really like is under swarovski.

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I'd show you the "size 7" overalls that were delivered yesterday from "the site-which-must-not-be-named" mind you I specifically asked for a size 7 so tell me what you think. To be fair I am receiving a refund for them. And I have already found another cute Dora set for DD for her breakfast at Nick Hotel, I hope we can get it. (this was when it finally hit me OMG I am addicted to custom clothes LOL). She was so disappointed she really loved the bow in Dora's hair.

This was the red flag that something was not right.

Ok, I have finally finished this outfit! I had completed the jumper part a week ago and it was way too short. I knew it was going to be, but I only ordered a yard of the fabric online so I was stuck. I am the opposite of most of you, when I am up at the fabric counter I panic and yell "one yard!" DH suggested bloomers (duh, why didn't I think of that!) and here we are. ]

Steph - This is just so adorable and I love the bloomers....so creative!
(I dont know about you but I get my most creative when trying to "cover up" mistakes! :rotfl: When I appliqued the first time the needle zigged when I thought it would zag...so I put a little button on the corner of the letter and no one knew ;) .)
DD look so cute...perfect with those socks and shoes too...love it!!

Here's my latest finished project. I think the shirt needs some pink ribbon or something. Any ideas??

My mother will iron absolutely NOTHING when she sews. It drives me crazy!! I have to make sure I press every seam. I like to use Spray starch with sizing. Any way, I was pressing away and all of a sudden it smelled terrible. I'm wondering what that horrible smell was. I looked at the can of starch, and it wasn't starch. It was spray glue. Now I make sure I double check what can is sitting on the end of the ironing board.
OMGosh that is hilarious...sounds like something I would do!! :rotfl2: I hope it didnt ruin the fabric

LOL at the spray glue. That's definitely something I could see myself doing. :)

I don't like to iron in general and usually just machine wash and hang to dry the clothes I make for DD. Once they are dry, I toss them in the dryer for 10 minutes to "fluff" them. Sometimes I'll touch up some areas with the iron, like halter straps and sashes, but I avoid ironing ruffles.

When it comes to construction, though, I think ironing is a must. It makes the construction easier plus I think it actually cuts down on the need to iron after washing (could be imagined LOL). Some fabric seems to need less ironing, too.

Is it only me or do you iron the pattern pieces before you cut them out. For some reason, I really like flat ironed pieces and it makes them easier to pin and cut around. Course you are so good at this point....maybe you dont even need pattern pieces!! :flower3:

Just spray it on the fabric and iron as usual. I've been doing it to my fabric before sewing with it. I read a tip somewhere to spray starch the fabric because it made sewing easier--the fabric's less flipsy flopsy. I didn't get the heavy duty kind. I just picked one that said no white mess and something about making it feel nicer. There was one with Teflon for stain resistance. I should have grabbed that to coat my 2 year old with every morning. ;)

Hahahahaha:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Actually that isnt a bad idea! :rolleyes1

Doesn't matter to spray on right or wrong side. I just lightly spray and iron at the appropriate setting for the fabric. It'll make a sizzling sound but it's ok.

So crisp and easy to sew on! I am now an iron-er!

Now you are truely addicted! I think this thread has subliminal messages going... :rotfl: ;)

These are dresses I made for my three little girls for the twin 2 birthday. we took them to Disneyland. I wasn't going to make one for the oldest until I came across a polka dotted moo moo at the swap meet for 2.00. I bought it and took it apart and had about 1 1/2 yards to work with. The pattern for her dress was made from three different patterns I had. I am excited to hear what all of you lady's out there think I love all your work. It was my first time sewing dresses with sleeves.

This is the cutest picture I have ever seen! Look at those cute dresses and matching ears! Look how precious they all look sitting together....And are those DREAM FAST PASSES I spy around their necks????? I bet that made for one loverly birthday. Ummmmm, my BD is in April... will you take me? :rotfl2: ;)

I just found a site with some really cute knit fabrics. But I have never used knits before other than a couple appliques.
I think I should get a pattern or two for shirts before I buy all this fabric.
Any favorite patterns for knits?
Any tips for sewing on knit?
would spray starch help?

This is one of the fabrics.....

It screams PJs to me. But the others I like I am thinking shirts, maybe raglan style for DS?

She is not climbing the wall... It just looks like it:) You can see the patch I had to make to cover the botched appliqué. It was sooooo BAD!

I think that fabric is great! Great job! I can't wait to see your NBC outfit too!

Here's my latest finished project. I think the shirt needs some pink ribbon or something. Any ideas??

I love it! I think the shirt looks great. I might add the black stripe at the very bottom of the skirt too... it would draw your eye down to the bottom of the outfit.... for me the last layer gets a little lost. Just my 2cents.. hehe and by no means do I know much... heheh so feel free to ignore me! :)

I didn't use a pattern but basically it is the same as Castle Creations cow outfit (w/o the double layer skirt) but with the ties behind the neck. I'm not sure what pattern she used, if she did, for that though. It's basically a lot of rectangles cut to fit my child. I'd be happy to tell you what I did if you would like.

CASE- Copy And Steal Everything (it was coined by someone else, but I don't remember who to give them proper credit.)

You all are so funny...LOL...I CASE all that I can, the rest, I make up and claim it as mine...:rolleyes1

Ok, I am going to be making this soon:

BBQ.jpg

Question...Should I use the standard red gingham as shown or use this gingham:

redblack.jpg

Keep in mind that the outfit has to match this one:

100_0602.jpg

If I use the red/black gingham, will it match my daugther's outfit? Which one looks better?

Hi! Definitely like the red & white gingham better. Matches your DDs dress better and looks more like a barbecue! Love the overalls.:hippie:

He was with Eastern? He is lucky he got out and found another job with Continental. It use to be if you worked for an airline, you were set for life. Not anymore. I'm still happy dh still has a job while I am adding on to my nurses degree. He said he was going to retire when I graduate and become a stay at home dad. Yeah right. :lmao:

When Eastern went under, somehow Continental picked him up. When he retired he decided to take his pension in a one lump sum, even though he would get a lot less, because he feared the airline would go bankrupt, and he would be out of a lot of money in the end...His fiance, is still a flight attendant with Continental...
I'm working on my degree right now...and will soon be adding to it...LOL...

I would ask for a refund...just based on the hole...LOL...Unless the seller lists that the item is used, and some do use, previously worn demin...YUCK!!, they should issue you a refund...if they aren't willing to take the item back, I would ask for a partial refund...

Here's my latest finished project. I think the shirt needs some pink ribbon or something. Any ideas??

I love the outfit the way it is...maybe some pink and black matching hairbows...LOL...I love the Minnie head on the shirt...where did you get it...it's perfect..

Tina--

The overalls weren't like a distressed denim, were they? I embelished a pair of overalls once and they had holes in them, but only because they were "distressed".

Hello twob4him Yes they were dream fast passes. The twins birthday was may 26. They had such a great bday. And they got so many comments on their dresses. I worked for two solid weeks on all three. You can't see in the pictures but both the twins had matching bloomers on under their dresses.

My question is does anyone have any ideas for high school musical. I want to do something cute for dd6.
