HA HA, my uncle sings that song to me every time he sees me!! So much that my mom bought it for me when I moved away!

Ironically I think Jennifer was number 1 and that's my sister's name. Apparently my parents were not very creative :dance3:

Same here!!! Now that is too funny!

Hi Gang,

Well I finally have some custom outfits to show my cuties off in ! :cheer2:

This is Sam and Kiley in their Cinderella outfits and flip flops and hair bows I bought for our trip to DW in September.

And this is my drama queen Kiley, who was not a happy camper due to the fact that her sister got to wear her hair bows and she could'nt wear hers, because her Cindy hair clippies both broke before the picture and I had to take them out so I could hot glue them. (you'd never know from the picture though LOL)

Blessed Be,
Tina

THose are beautiful!!!!

OK, I'm almost done with my first every skirt with tulle. ugh.

I am worried that the inside of the skirt (where all the layers are sewn to the waist) is going to be itchy b/c of the tulle. I just stitched it all together last night. I'm going to trim and finish off the seams with a zig zag stitch. Will that keep the tulle from scratching? Has anyone else had a problem with the tulle at the waist?

When I use tulle, I add a layer of muslin so no "itchy" on the skin. The muslin is against the skin.

I am an Aimee too! Just to let everyone know Amy was the second most popular girls baby name of the 1970's.

My parents named me after a Pure Prarie Leauge song!!! I always giggle when I hear it on the radio. I even saved their record.
That wouldn't surprise me at all!! I was born in '69, and my mom named me after Amy in Little Women. I had a friend Amie in college and they used to call us "y" and "ie". And now, I have a friend, Aimee, who is 7 yrs younger than I am, but we share the same birthday, July 18th.

what to know something funny! My parents named me after Lori from the partridge family! ugghhh

I think I understand. I'm still in awe!!! I may try a smaller movable version. Let's see what I come up with...When I do I'll share

I got fed up with just sewing out of a roll-out/fold-away-desk ...
so, I took over an "extra" room ... :)
It was small, so it got filled up very fast ...
I got fed up again.
I emptied the room, made new desks & shelves, put it all back ...
NOW, it's fine. =)
I just hope we don't have to move anytime soon! ;)
(this is a 12'by12' room)

"pack-rat with style" is what my best-friend calls it.

** added later**
Somebody asked how I did all this. Here's How.
http://photobucket.com/practice/?id=nt0xu

BIG RIBBON RACK
It's hard to take a picture of it, because of where it sits ...
It's by a rounded doorway (the black thing there is a curtain), and there's a wall/work counter in the way for me to back up any further.

My ribbon rack is two 2by4's, 16" apart = they are supports for the big shelf, that runs all around the room, up by the ceiling) ...
At first, I was going to put peg board on them & use peg hooks to hang things.
But I thought = I could drill a shallow hole in one board & a matching hole all the way through the other one (level/horizontal with each other)
THEN run a wooden dowel through the "complete" hole (that faces the room), + through spools of ribbon, then sit the end of the dowel in the shallow hole on the other post (by the wall) ...
I tried it, and it worked! I was sooo excited! :woohoo:
So, I repeated this all the way up to the top = tada.

These two boards were painted white BEFORE I ever drilled the holes (it doesn't work well to drill then paint).
To cover the holes (facing into the room) I used white duct tape strips. (don't press it down hard)
I pull off the tape when I need to move a dowel. :)
& put it back in place, to make it look pretty again when I'm done.
(This also stops my girls from pulling out my dowels.) :rolleyes1
I use narrow clear tape to affix the stray ends of the ribbons on the spools.
(I try not to use pins on them anymore, since the 3yr old loves to spin the ribbon spools.)
You can use the ribbon straight from the rack OR pull out the dowel to get the whole spool.

CLICK a PIX to Enlarge it.

Since the big upper shelf was made to hold bolts of fabric = I made it with 2x4 frames underneath (for strength), so you can see these UNDER this shelf. (see the pix = I'm looking UP at that point) ...
Hey! More room for more holes & dowels = I hung my elastic spools from these :)

A friend of mine, needs something like this, so I've been thinking about this more ...
I wonder IF something like this, can be made from of a room separator? like fold-up wall partitions?
She has a semi-free corner in her work room... using two panels would work great for that corner.
Three panels would be better for stability, though.
IF I can not make that work out, I'll try to make a hanging rack for her closet.
IF I make either of these for her = I'll make sure to take pictures of it & share them here!

!IDEA! You know those roll-under-the-bed plastic containers with lids?!?!
I bet you could do this with one of those!!
Don't push too hard when drilling the holes, so the plastic doesn't crack from the pressure.
You could use "cap nuts" for the dowels' ends = screw them off & on, as needed
IF anybody makes one = I wanna see it, ok?

It was hard to describe my big ribbon rack. I hope you can understand it.

Is there a post that has a list of resources for patterns & such? I'm coming in very late and don't have weeks to go back and read 500+ pages. Thanks.

The first post of this thread has an amazing link list!

I like these, too ...
To find clipart ... Try these = (remove the spaces)
www. disneyclips. com
yahoo image search
http:// images. search. yahoo. com/
you can search for coloring books/pages, etc...
& try "words" in "quotes" to narrow down the search results :)

I think I understand. I'm still in awe!!! I may try a smaller movable version. Let's see what I come up with...When I do I'll share

please, feel free to give me a yell, if you need any help or anything ...
I usually have to make things I want or re-do things I buy, because I can hardly ever find things the way/size I need them, already made, that is.
:)

my dad was a mechanic, machinist & carpenter ... so, I grew up around him making stuff all the time ...
I love making stuff ... & helping other people make stuff!
Sometimes, it's the brainstorming that's the best part, though.
Good Luck!

We just returned from our trip to WDW. My two girls each had two custom outfits for each day. We'd hit a park in the AM, take a mid-day break to swim and then change into another outfit for the evening. They received tons of compliments, smiles and attention, but even if they hadn't the fun that I had making the outfits and their happiness at wearing them made the time I spent completely worth it. Those of you who are spending all of your free time sewing and crafting won't regret it!

I have to get my pictures organized, but in the meantime here are pictures of my two favorite outfits. Neither of them are anything revolutionary for this thread, but I love how they came out. I had posted a picture of the JoJo twirl skirt several weeks ago before I had the matching top. I was fortunate to find a wonderful incredibly talented ebay designer to do the applique. I sent her a fabric panel and she sent back the most perfect JoJo applique on it which I then made into the top.

I embroidered the jeans by hand and machine sewed on the ric rack and ribbon. I thought I had come up with something unique, but then while scanning ebay this morning I saw a very similar outfit. Oh well, I guess there's only so much you can do with the Minnie theme.

Edited to add that during our trip I saw only two other families with customs. There was one family with matching tees. I made sure to stop the mother and tell her how much I liked them. We talked for a minute and it was fun to meet someone who shared my enthusiasm. The other family had two little girls with princess dresses that the grandma had made. Again, I told her how cute they were and she seemed happy that someone had noticed that they were not off-the-rack.

Okay, I know that this is OT. But how many AMYs (any spelling) are on this thread. I know I have seen quite a few.
I am an AMY.

Aimeeg- Love the fantasmic idea. I would make it longer like Mickey's robe is. I also agree that the Hat appliqued on the T would be something a little different and special.

**waving my hand in the air** I'm more of a lurker than a poster on this thread and I'm way behind reading the posts, but I'm an Amy too.

Ok 2 things today....First does anyone have a resource for getting "trim" at very good discounts or pricing. I'm sure there's a better deal than going to the fabric store. I say that only because I have found several ribbon suppliers that are a MUCH better deal than Michaels....I know I could use coupons but that gets tedious at times.

Also, y'all remember that navy custom outfit that went for big bucks on a particular auction site? There's now an army one up from the same seller. Can't wait to see how that ends.....

Oh yea...one more thing. Someone mentioned locating a pattern for pettiskirts. I found a pattern on same auction site....Thought someone might be interested. Way beyond my skills...I'm still waiting to start learning to sew a straight line:lmao: ....Thank goodness school starts back in 2 weeks....

Ok now 4 things....just wanted to say a big thank you to seamstress. You have been beyound helpful. I love all the directions on organization. It's very inspiring....Still got to get my kiddos back in school before I can really get serious about it....

That is one of THE CUTEST JoJo outfits ever!! Send it my way when you're done with it ;)

The Minnie outfit is really cute too.

Angie (esab4), the outfits are adorable, I really like the Minnie ones! I can't wait to see more.

Very cute! It is hard to wrangle them around the machine isn't it! My machine has a removable part so I can get smaller things up under the needle. I haven't had to take a seam out yet I am too scared to to it.

THey are cute can't wait to see the shirt for your little guy too!
