AND, my Teal Ariel jumper is complete! It features rick rack waves and fishie buttons! Miss Norah will be wearing it to Coral Reef this Sept. She has a lovely fever and is throwing up today or I'd post it (in all it's glory). Which explains why she's been especially "lovely" lately.

Cute! We need to see a pic of this.

And just when is the famous UtahMama going to be at WDW in September? Forget the hidden Mickey's, I'll be searching for the Pepsi Queen! :rotfl:

It's the darker red, not the bright orangy red, and the dots are about the size of half dollars, not the little dots. The really large dot, Michael Miller style is at Joann's for 7 dollars a yard..Yikes...
I do have a confession, I bought 2 yards of this gorgeous organza with little red roses all over it for my dd's christmas dress...LOL It was over 12 dollars a yard...

I was at my walmart yesterday and it was not there yet! boo hoo! how is it compared to the hancock minnie dots

Here are the fabrics that I bought yesterday at Hobby Lobby.

I'm not sure what I will do with the Nemo fabric, I just thought it was cute.
IMG_0147.jpg

I can't wait to do something with this. I love it!
IMG_0146.jpg

I can't wait to show ds this. He is going to love it!
IMG_0145.jpg

This is the fabric I'm not sure what to do with. I know I want to make dd an outfit for Animal Kingdom, but I'm not sure what. Any suggestions?

IMG_0143.jpg

I just got this outfit in the mail today. I can't wait for dd to get home to see her new outfits I got and made her while she was with her grandparents for the week.

sigh I just love that cindy toille. Don't think it would look good on son though ha ha.

I am going to the fabric store tonight hopefully so I should have some outfits this week. :cool1: I better get busy I will be there in 6 weeks!!!!

For anyone sewing using the red minnie dot, check you local Walmart. I bought a bolt today for only $2.00 a yard. The never have it. They brought it in, for costumes. I also got a cute Disney print with Minnie building a snow man, and Mickey sledding, I think... I will be posting photos this afternoon.

We just got a Walmart in our area and of course they dont carry fabric :headache:  :sad2:

OMG Tom - this is simply stunning! It is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!

I hope your wife is a scrapbooker (or good God, based on your talents, you could even do it) as I think a 2 page layout with pics of the dress and the "story" of how the creation was made would be a simply amazing way to preserve these memories.

And be sure to tell EVERY SINGLE ONE of the many CMs and guests at the Parks who will be stopping you every 2 mins to admire the dress that YOU made it. (Also then be prepared to miss about 1/2 of your Park time signing autographs!):lmao:

Here are some photos of my DD in her dress!

It is a halter style, but you can't see it with DD's long tresses!;)

Twirl factor:

Enjoy!

I can't believe I am saying this, but I am headed out to the fabric store!

There is a sporting goods store right next door, I might have to pop in there when I am done to boost back my testosterone level!

Great things everyone is posting!

Keep up on the good work, and very inspiring ideas!

Whew! This was another first for me: sewing without a pattern! I used the instructions for the boutique twirly skirt on Teresa's bookmarks and it came out great. I did use a pattern for the top, but it was simple. Of course, it was too short on my amazon girl so I added a couple of ruffles to the bottom so she's not giving a peep show!

And, DS asked me to make him some matching board shorts! Woo hoo! So, it's back to JoAnn's for me.

Here is the back, I guess I should have measured her, because it gaps a little. I should have made the elastic shorter but I just followed the pattern.

100_1574.jpg

Twirling, of course!

100_1576.jpg

Don't look at the appliqué too closely, it's not perfect! Hey, look we got her ears pierced yesterday. She wanted me to put her hair up in a scrunchie to show them off:

Steph you did an excellent job and your DD is just beautiful in your creation! I love the combinations of prints. Its eyecatching. Just so you know when she wears it you are going to get two questions: "Wow where did you get her outfit..its beautiful?" and when you tell them you made it the next question will be, "Did you make something for each park?". Trust me I went thru it one day. I had made t-shirts for our AK day. Believe when I say they were very basic. Well, we got so much attention wearing them. I almost couldnt wait to get back to the hotel and take them off. So....in that dress...yessh....she'll be put in the parade or something!! :rotfl2: Keep up the good work! :thumbsup2 See even DH wants you to make something...a real compliment!

Angela, that stinks. Your kids looked so cute, I actually emailed Dh the link to your post, a first. :)

I have a question, we are going to MNSSHP this year and I am trying to figure out costumes. I don't want anything hot since it will probably be 95 with 95% humidity. (I am sweating already, lol) I had thought of mousketeers that would be easy. Then I thought since I was planning on making this for DS:
mickeyjonjon.jpg

What if he wore that and I could make me a minnie tulle skirt and wore it with a black tshirt. Would that look weird? If not what could Dh be?

TIA

Thank you trying to share them anyways.
I was glad I got a chance to see them. :)

We have to get you a sewing machine ;)
I have some extras here, I can drive one over to you. :)

Gotta warn ya though, it's addicting.

:confused3 :confused3 Did I miss something while I was out?

Why cant you post pictures of your kids? Isnt this what we're supposed to do here? I dont understand why someone would make you take pictures down if they were your own kids.

I finished my DD AK outfit, or so I thought. I loved the fabric for the top and since she is almost 8 I wanted to not make it Disney, but something she could wear elsewhere. Now that it is done I find myself wanting to put some Mickey heads on or something, but not sure what to do. The shorts are made of a linen material, not just cotton and are pretty themselves as they are. I don't want to ruin it, but can't help but think about how to make it more Disney. Any suggestions??

Also Thank you to Dena I think for the idea of using dental floss for gathers/ruffles. I was taught at sewing class to use the bobbin thread and could never do it on my own at home, so I had quit doing them all together until that suggestion.

I like this just the way it is. Like someone else said, sometimes less is more. I wouldn't change a thing.

I do not think it would be wierd, if you wear it with pride then I don'tthink it matters. I love that jon jon idea. I do not like making jon jons they are a pain. but that one is going to be adorable when finished. make sure you post pictures!

Need some opinions...

I have an adorable pirate tutu set for DD for Halloween. I want to make her a cool Trick or Treat bag to match, so I bought a black tote at Hobby Lobby, but I can't decide what to put on it.

I thought this was cute, but the hair bothers me a little. (DD is only 3, so not too scary!)

pirateface1.jpg

Or I thought this was sort of cute for a ToT bag...booty=candy...pirate: but maybe too "suggestive" for a 3 year old? :confused3 (not to me, but I guess other people might think its weird?)

booty.jpg

Or there's this face, too, which I can only link to.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=110082267262&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=001

Or I'm open to any other suggestions! Thanks!

At first I didn't realize the hair on the face was hair at all...so I see what you are saying. Personally, I like the booty one for a treat bag. Only some weirdo would think anything of it, but I think it would have to be on say, a shirt or your pants pockets for it to be construed that other way. pirate:

- Pirate something for the Pirate Cruise and Adventureland.
- Something very Minnie.
- Something for Fantasyland. I am doing Dumbo smocking for the babes.
- Nemo dress for Epcot until she changes into the Belle get up so she can dance with the Beast.
- Need something for MGM
- Nees something for Animal Kingdom.
- Something super cute for Ohano's Lilo breakfast. I wonder if I could do Lilo's dress?

Ok, her are some of my favs. Since you'rre going in Feb. Or Mar I wouldn't suggest shorts, maybe capris ar skirts (you can always layer leggings under skirts)

Pirate twirl corset oh so cute!!!
2006_1025MissPirate0004.jpg

Or something more practical.
100_0118.jpg

Very Minnie!! You could always layer a top under the halter
IMG_1558.jpg

Animal Kingdom, again easy to add a layer

Love this for Ohana, alothough not like Lilo!

For MGM - JoJo of course!!

We just got a Walmart in our area and of course they dont carry fabric :headache:  :sad2:

http://www.PetitionOnline.com/savefab/

I've been asking my friendly wallymart employees what the scoop was on this =
This is what we've pieced together, but they don't really know for sure, either ...

Supposedly, "the story" is that they don't want to have to pay for that department to have a person available to "just stand around & cut fabric for $1 & $2 a yard" ...

and another employee told me, it was also because they are sick of the huge inventories in that department, that they have to do 1-2 times yearly = I guess they have to measure every bolt/every inch & tally it all. some times it takes 10-15 (or more) people to get it done on time (within 24 hours?!).

one manager told me it's a "5 year plan" ... the stores that already have the fabric sections that are about to remodeled/updated, their fabric sections will be either removed or cutdown and later removed (within 5 years) ...
and
the new stores & stores that don't have fabric sections already, they will not get one (in most cases) ... but, IF it's one of the few that does get one = it'll be a cutdown version, & be removed within 5 years.
etc.etc.etc.

that's what they say.

I think most of us know there is a trouble maker here. I've seen it several times in the short time I've been around.
