here is our mini trip report with new pictures!!! Mostly pictures! Got my Photopass an hour ago and I love all the pictures!!! Can't wait to print them out!

Lori

Oh, I just checked it out! Your family is adorable!! I loved your mini-trip-report! :) Looks like you all had a wonderful time! Great pictures! Thanks so much for sharing!

Also, I have a question for you that is a little OT...I have a lot of boutique bows for my dd to wear on our trip, and I was wondering how did you transport yours to WDW so they arrived in good condition? I spent too much $$ on them, for them to get ruined in transit ;)

Thanks! :goodvibes

Funny I was just searching for ideas last night...My boys always pick their own so we'll see what they choose but I have a new baby girl that I'm so excited to dress up for halloween....

My thoughts are - I really don't want to do a princess because it's so expected and I want something different....I would like to do a tutu with the colors suggesting the character (i.e. bumble bee yellow/black, pirate red/black witch orange/purple black etc) I'm just trying to be creative on the idea but keep it simple for her...I'm hoping to do a long sleeve t-shirt, tutu, matching bow (I make bows) and tights....So it's more of a suggestion of a character but not necessarily the character...Does that make sense????

Any input would be appreciated....I would love other suggestions that would fit my idea......

We had friends that made their little girl Tinker Bell and one of the boys was Peter Pan, and the other (older one) was Captain Hook. It was very cute and you could still use your tutu idea and maybe just add some wings or not. I am sure that everyone will figure it out with the boys dressed up. Good luck

I was wondering if anyone can direct me to a site where I could find someone to make me simple dress.

I got a simple KP dress off ebay for the amazing price of $9 and I am now looking for a Buzz lightyear dress for my dd2 so they kind of look alike when we go to MGM. My dd2 really is into Toy STory lately, but of course I cna only find boy clothes. I have seen the Buzz fabric in several stores so is there a site I can go to to get someone who can sew to make a dress?

Thanks for you help.

Silly question but I'm asking anyways....if you dress your dc in boutique clothing year round and not just on vacation AND they are little.....how do you fit the skirts/poof in the carseats? DD is 2 and I have grand ideas of what I'm going to sew for her but it's going to get all squished once we get in the car to go anywhere. We live in the northeast so it gets COLD here in the winter. Ideas?

I really want to try the patchwork twirl skirt this weekend. I have made 3 twirl skirts now and I think I'm ready!!!

My biggest question is this - how do I know how big I want each square to be? I have all the math figured out (how long and how wide each tier should be) but I just don't know what what looks best or works best. Any suggestions? I saw somewhere that you didn't want them much skinnier than 3 or 4 inches wide?

Also, I would love some input on gathering. I have been just sewing one line of stitching (using the widest stitch on my machine) and then gathering. I have seen on a couple of sites suggestions that your should run 2 lines of stitching. Would love to hear what others do!!!
I learned to sew ......ahhh quite a few years ago...LOL..and I was taught to sew two lines of gathering stitches within the seam allowance. It "stands up straighter that way and incase you do break a thread you are not totally messed up. Nana (Nana's Custom Creations)

I put the bows into shoe boxes. took two litle boxes and I just put them in loose but enough in the box to keep them from moving around too much.

Very cute pumpkin, I like how the green "collar" looks Did you see the hershey kiss???? Very cute. If I could just get the hat and then make a silver tutu (Yes I'm very hung up on this tutu idea)

She's 3 1/2 months....and not a bit spoiled:rotfl2: The pic in my sig is from the hospital you can see my boys are simply in love with her:love: They are pushing for her to be tinkerbell. I want to avoid the wings till she's walking. I think they'll be a pain to wear in the stroller. I think all my friends will be shocked she's not something disney related but I'm not in the mood for princess and I can't think of anything else fun so I'm on to other things this year.

She can always go as Wendy!! It would be easy to do and she'd be comfy!!

you know we wear them all year and tulle is very resiliant! It seems to pop right back for us! of course we are in AZ and our winter is just wearing a coat!

I will have them wear leggins underneath the skirt, and then take off the skirt in the car. I like to keep blankets in the car in the winter, so they will then throw that over their laps. I don't let them wear their winter coats in their carseats, (can't get the straps tight enough that way)so they usually have the blankets on anyway until the van warms up.

Wow! I haven't been on for a while - darn that whole work thing - and there is so much to catch up on! Such cute outfits, everyone! Those smocked outfits are so gorgeous! I've been considering learning to smock, but I think DH may cut me off if I pick up a new hobby! Between scrapbooking and sewing, my checkbook has been hurting!

I've got a couple of new creations! One for DS and one for DD - well, not so much for DD as she is just modeling it, LOL!

Ok - now to catch up on all the new posts!

I only have a minute, but wow, that top shirt makes me wish I had a little boy. It is sooo cute! I love the animal print/minnie dot too!:goodvibes

Thanks Lori!

Unfortunately for me, I don't think 10 shoeboxes would fit in my luggage and that's how many I would need because the last time I counted I had 20 plus bows for dd to wear  :rotfl2: :lmao:

Obviously, I'm going to have to leave a few at home, but now I'm thinking maybe I'll just have to ship them to Pop ahead of time!

Anyway, thanks again and you did awesome sewing all those outfits! :thumbsup2

you know I brought 12 pairs with us and they fit into two kids shoeboxes. I was able to put a few pairs in each boxes and then they each wore a pair on the plane! I thought Iwould never get them there either but was surprised how many fit in a box nicely without too much smoooooshing!

I was thinking of doing the JonJon's black on top and red on bottom but, the pattern is 4 pieces and I am not sure how to cut them where they will all line up. :confused3

Try cutting the front and back on the fold. I've often wondered why these patterns are 4 separate pieces instead of 2.
Practice first on muslin or something inexpensive just to see how it would sew.

Really?! Maybe there's hope for me yet! I'll have to try it and see how many I can get to fit without them getting all messed up :)
Good thing I only have a few bowbands for the baby in addition to big sisters bows or I would be really be in trouble trying to transport 40 bows to WDW :rotfl:

leggings!! good idea! i was thinking she'd freeze in just tights but with leggins she'd be ok :goodvibes thanks for the idea!

We brought about 12-15 big bows...Put in quart size ziplock baggies then into carry on.No problem they Puff right back to shape! Cant go to Disney without the bows..:cutie:

Ok, its time for me to stop shopping for fabric etc and start sewing.
I am going to start with a pillowcase dress and go from there, but I wanted to show the fabric I got today. It didn't look like one I had seen before, has it been around already or is this one new?

I am not sure what I am going to do with that but hopefully it will come to me.

And then DS saw this and I thought I could put something together with this for our SeaWorld days.

This thread is addicting and I haven't even made anything yet!
