Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 2

I lay the envelope across the edge of the fabric and draw a line across the top, and keep doing that all the way across, until I have a long strip, and it will be even because of the size of the envelope. I hem one edge of the ruffle and gather the top edge before I sew it onto the garment..

Okay, I "think" I understand. I want to try to copy your dress idea, but with these fabrics

Picture1304.jpg

I am thinking a plain purple (not bought yet) for the top bodice, cutting out daughters initials and putting them on the bodice either with fabric glue or applique, have the very full dress (your 88 inch idea) the alphabet letters, and then the bottom ruffle the stripe. Or maybe the bodice in the stripe too? Not sure, I'd love idea help. I am off without kids on Wednesday this week, so i am hoping to attempt this outfit. My daughter will not be going to pre-school, but she can walk her big brothers into their classromms.

Thanks for your help Castle Creations!!

all your new outfits are amazing! I wish I could sew but I know i would get so frustrated comparing anything to what I see you guys do and what I buy on ebay. Im such a big addict of the clothes and been buying some of the most beautiful things from ebay I wouldnt be satisfied with what I could come up with. That tink outfit advertised is gorgeous but I always have to order in order to get two of an outfit. keep up the good work guys ,its so enjoyable to see the new creations everyday!

I FINALLY got the buttons I ordered (over 2 weeks for them to ship/arrive) so here's the shirt - all finished!

This is off topic but . . .

I know a lot of the DD's on this thread have American Girl dolls. We are going to NYC next month for the day. DD wants to bring Kit to the American Girl Doll store. I am looking for a bookbag made to carry the doll. I checked the website but no luck. Does anyone know where I might get one?

TIA

Hey UtahMama~ Welcome aboard!! When are you going back to Disney World?? :goodvibes jen

Great Job everyone!

Heyyyy! I "know" you!!!!

I'll be there in 61 days. I think it's that many??? We're departing 9/22 (then coming home 10/2).

I am hiring a seemstress, I guess, to make my elaborate yet modest Ariel because my sewing machine is broken and I can't afford to get a new serger before we leave.

You guys, I'm seriously back to page 400. Thanks a-LOT for keeping me occupied. My chores can wait :rolleyes1

You GUYS!!!!! This thread is awesome!!!!!

Y'all are SO talented! Even you no-sewers out there!

I found an Ariel pattern for my DDalmost3 and my goal is for her to be a MODEST version. I want her "tail"-skirt to be reeeeally irredescent and in two colors of green. I want to sculpt "clam shells" or maybe applique them (so they are not too puffy and look like breasts :rolleyes1 ).

Y'all have gotten my creative juices flowin'!!!!! Now I just need to go buy a new serger because my sewing machine is broken. See, I've been waiting for my sewing machine to break just so I can get a new serger. There's a cheap one at Walmart. Hopefully it works ok.

Now I have to go back a few hundred pages so I can oooooh and ahhhhhh over all your creations!!!!!

Make sure you check out the Photbucket page with most all of the creations on it. It might save you some time! It's listed on the first page of the thread.
And WELCOME!!! It's nice to see you over here!

Thank you, I love "bling" but I dont have any girls to Bling up, so I had to improvize, and just add touches of bling to my boys clothes-They'll hate me later:lmao:
And, a big WELCOME to you too!

Here is the new Disney fabric I found.

Fabric002.jpg
I saw some fabric that looked a lot like this at Joann's on clearance a few months ago. Unfortunately, I saw it at the cutting table, where the lady in front of me purchased the whole bolt! She offered to let me have some, but I didn't know what I would do with it. Now, I'm wishing I had taken some!

I FINALLY got the buttons I ordered (over 2 weeks for them to ship/arrive) so here's the shirt - all finished!

The buttons really add a nice touch to the shirt! It looks great, and what a cute little guy you have!

My DD10 and I went to the AG Place in Chicago last summer and they sold a backpack there that also carried the doll. I thought they also sold it in the catalog and on the website but I don't see on there they one they did have. My daughter got the doll tote item #7117 and that will actually hold two dolls. They sit facing each other and they you can store "stuff" underneath. Don't know it that helps or not.

I like these ideas. I wouldn't add any ruffles to it either.:thumbsup2

Thanks for the suggestions, ladies! I agree that it probably shouldn't have ruffles. I like the idea of adding the cuties fabric to the cuff, and adding the ribbons with bows on the sides. Now let's see if I ever get around to doing it!

Ok here is my next creation for my dd. How does it look honestly? Does it look ok with the two black sleeves or should I change it to one black and the other in the Mickey fabric?

IMG_0868.jpg

My vote is 2 black sleeves- definitely! It looks more expensive that way!

Oh my gosh!!!! I just found the MOST adorable TINK set I have ever seen. I may just have to splurge on this one!!!

Not sure exactly what I can post, but if you search CUSTOM BOUTIQUE FUN FAIRY SET it might get you there. If not PM me and I will tell you the ebay ID.

Oh wow it's simply awesome!!!

Wow, that is TOO cute! Of course, now that I made one "easy" pattern outfit, I'm thinking "I could make that." :rotfl2:

Also, for those that applique, do you applique on the finished shirt or on the shirt before it's sewn together?

Thanks,
Blakely

I appliqued Ariel on the finished product (because I didn't make the shirt). But, I'd probably do it that way even if I did make the outfit. I'd be really mad if I appliqued it onto some fabric and then screwed that piece of fabric up when I was sewing the outfit together or something.

Oh and we dont know how to applique, this was our first attempt so overlook the flaws please:goodvibes

GREAT job!! I love to see different ideas for the little boys! I think the applique looks terrific!

I FINALLY got the buttons I ordered (over 2 weeks for them to ship/arrive) so here's the shirt - all finished!

The shirt is adorable, and so is your little guy's "little man" hairdo!!

I know this has been posted before, but I thought I'd repeat it since a lot of us miss stuff on this fast-moving thread.

As I was getting my fabric cut at my local WalMart (on Shaver Rd in Portage, MI for any locals), the woman at the fabric counter told me they're probably going to close the fabric department when they turn the store into a Super WalMart. This has already happened at one of our WalMarts (Gull Rd in Kalamazoo, MI) and they're thinking of closing them all, or just scaling them back to selling "notions" and no fabric. She told me to either call corporate or e-mail corporate if I want them to keep the fabric departments open. She said to get everyone I know to do this, as it's a chain-wide issue. So, here's the info you need to keep WalMart fabric departments open:

Phone number 1-800-WALMART
E-mail corporate (it's a link on WalMart's website): http://walmartstores.com/GlobalWMStoresWeb/navigate.do?catg=221

Please call and e-mail, and encourage everyone else you know to do so! Many of us don't have any fabric stores, besides WalMart, nearby!

I knew I was not crazy! Thanks. I was looking too for that bookbag and cannot seem to find it. I think I am going to get DD the tote for Christmas. My MIL goes to NYC once a month to visit her sister and we are goingt to tag along next month. I just do not want to lug that doll around for 12 hours. I know she will not carry it!

 HI! We are going back in 98 days!! DD is really excited to "hug" Minnie again. It's so nice to tell her that we have a trip coming up. :) Have a great time! Good Luck finding a seamstress! :goodvibes

I just put in my 2 cents to WM. Thanks for posting a link! :goodvibes

Steph~ Love the colors! Where did you get the fabric?

Hi, I got it at JoAnn's. The minnie head fabric was $7.99. I found the lime green over by the quilting stuff.

Well , I have been a lurker on this thread for awhile now and have seen some absoulutly awsome outfits so I was inspired to try to make some customes myself (with the help of my mother-since she has a clue what shes doing on a sewing machine and I dont):lmao:
100_1680.jpg

Great job to you and your mother! It really looks great!

Here is the new Disney fabric I found.

Fabric002.jpg

Wow, I love that! I saw the Halloween fabric with the new Halloween stuff but I have never seen that retro Mickey stuff.

I FINALLY got the buttons I ordered (over 2 weeks for them to ship/arrive) so here's the shirt - all finished!

EMickeyStripShirt.jpg

Cute! The boy and the shirt I mean. Great job on it.

Well, I'm off to complete my daughter's pirate outfit (got some more thread). It doesn't really look very piratey so I bought an iron on skull to add to it. Will post pictures soon (I hope!).

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHh

ok.. just needed to vent... working on my first tulle skirt and issues already... and I haven't even gotten to the tulle. Time to go hook up with my best friend the seam ripper.

Why not cut a long pair or fold them up to make capris?? Or, are they for a boy? If they were for a boy, you could still cut them and add a fabric cuff or let them fray for a different look!

HMMM they are for a boy. I wanted to add applique a Mickey Head. I like that Frayed idea. He has a little pair of khaki shorts from gymboree that are frayed. I do like that idea. I wonder if they have any left? I looked at Old Navy . com and Gap . com and no luck no shortoveralls at either one.

Thank you! If I get some I will post a photo! I spent all day looking for the treasure map fabric! No luck but I did find something I like. Now I need to get sewing and cutting and sewing, our trip is coming up soon!

Hi Utah Momma! :wave2: I love your trip reports!! I just wanted to give you a shout out because you made the most adorable autograph books. You posted a photo of them in your first Big Fat Disney Vacation!

My kids and I tried to make our own on Saturday. It was fun and easy!

Welcome to the thread. Can't wait to see what you create.
