Ok here is my next creation for my dd. How does it look honestly? Does it look ok with the two black sleeves or should I change it to one black and the other in the Mickey fabric?

I haven't sewn this much in awhile! You guys are such an inspiration and have really gotten me back into sewing again! Now to work on a cruise dress..

I love it as is!! Who is it for?

Oh my gosh!!!! I just found the MOST adorable TINK set I have ever seen. I may just have to splurge on this one!!!

Not sure exactly what I can post, but if you search CUSTOM BOUTIQUE FUN FAIRY SET it might get you there. If not PM me and I will tell you the ebay ID.

Oh wow it's simply awesome!!!

I LOVE this school outfit! May I ask, how do you make the skirt so full? Is it two times the width of her waist or even more? I love how full and flowing it looks!! Thanks!

Hi, I didn't even measure this time...LOL, but what I did was cut across the fabric twice. So if the fabric is 44 inches across, there are two sections of this, so it's around 88 inches. Her waist is 24 inches. So that means the ruffle at the bottom was 160 inches long...I use a envelope to measure and cut ruffles. I lay a business envelope on the fabric and use it to mark a straight edge and draw on the fabric with a pen. The envelope is the perfect size for ruffles.

I have a whole shelf of "made up" sewing tools too! My friends are always digging through it and asking what I use the stuff for. They usually say that they could never sew because they would never think to use the stuff. I always tell them that they would figure it out and come up with lots of interesting "tools" of their own if they would just get started! Necessity is the mother of invention.

Okay, I think I understand what you were trying to tell me.

You cut accross the fabric that is 44 inches wide. You match up the seams making it now 88 inches across, and then gather it and sew it onto the top piece? Am I reading your instructions right?

Now for the "envelope" tip. HELP!!! I totally am not sure what you are trying to tell me here. Do you cut the fabric in envelope widths and lenghts, then sew together (gather first) and then add to bottom of the 88 inches of main skirt?? Do you fold it over so it is a nice neat end, and the two non finished edges are what is sewn onto the main dress? Is this like a stripwork pattern for a ruffle? It seems simple enough, but then I got thinking, NAAA that is too easy. So will you help some more ??

When I made one similar, the directions on the elastic thread said to make the fabric 2x the width wanted. It gathers itself as you do more rows. Very easy the first time I tried it!

Thank you!! I will give it a shot this afternoon

Yeah I love how it has Tink and Wendy and Peter and I forget the Indian girls name, but her too. I am watching that outfit closely!

Great tip! I just bought a rotary cutter to help me keep my cutting lines straight--and shorten my cutting time. Seems like a helpful tool so far!

I am looking to make a simple peasant top. I found the directions on the bookmarks page but I'd like to use elastic thread to shear (is that the word??) the sleeves. Any tips?

Also, for those that applique, do you applique on the finished shirt or on the shirt before it's sewn together?

Thanks,
Blakely

Well , I have been a lurker on this thread for awhile now and have seen some absoulutly awsome outfits so I was inspired to try to make some customes myself (with the help of my mother-since she has a clue what shes doing on a sewing machine and I dont):lmao: So here is what we came up wit yesterday

I love this shirt! When I saw it, I was actually thinking it would be cute for an adult, also. I'm a bigger gal and it's hard to find Disney things that fit, so I might have to copy for a top for me.....;)

love the mickey halloween shirt...great for the party !! The sparkle bling on the bandana is a great touch...when are you going to the party? We will be there 10/4 !!!

You GUYS!!!!! This thread is awesome!!!!!

Y'all are SO talented! Even you no-sewers out there!

I found an Ariel pattern for my DDalmost3 and my goal is for her to be a MODEST version. I want her "tail"-skirt to be reeeeally irredescent and in two colors of green. I want to sculpt "clam shells" or maybe applique them (so they are not too puffy and look like breasts :rolleyes1 ).

Y'all have gotten my creative juices flowin'!!!!! Now I just need to go buy a new serger because my sewing machine is broken. See, I've been waiting for my sewing machine to break just so I can get a new serger. There's a cheap one at Walmart. Hopefully it works ok.

Now I have to go back a few hundred pages so I can oooooh and ahhhhhh over all your creations!!!!!

Thank you, I love "bling" but I dont have any girls to Bling up, so I had to improvize, and just add touches of bling to my boys clothes-They'll hate me later:lmao:

I lay the envelope across the edge of the fabric and draw a line across the top, and keep doing that all the way across, until I have a long strip, and it will be even because of the size of the envelope. I hem one edge of the ruffle and gather the top edge before I sew it onto the garment..
