Ok... I have my 3 rows done for a twirl skirt,,, I am a little nervous since the 3rd row is taller that me lol.

Can someone point me in the right direction to show me how to gather the rows to attach them together.

Oh how scary that must be for you all. I hope all goes well and you have a great time enjoying your DD 1st birthday with your family. I will keep you in my thoughts!

Thanks so much! It really means a lot that so many people have my little Sophee in their thoughts and prayers. We are looking forward to her birthday. The Tinker Bell cake is adorable!

Hello Ladies,
I just finished Destiny's Ariel outfit. I think she likes it!

Wow she is a doll! I love the Ariel outfit. Great job LadyRob.

Hi All,

I just bought this onsie on Ebay for my DGS Cayden. I can't wait to try it on him when it gets here. If the applique is hard to see it's a baby with Mickey ears and a pacifier. I also have a bunch of clothes ordered for my DD's and once they all get here I'll take some pictures and post them.:)

Not sure who orginally posted (I don't remeber ever seeing the first one!!!) The second one is by nanascustomcreations. Hope this gives you some inspiration!

Thank you! I love this one. I hope I have enough fabric. I also need to learn how to applique. hmmmm I only have about two weeks until our trip too.

I'll give it a try.

Thanks for all the lovely comments on my first dress (it was the cute-skull corset dress). I'm still way behind on the thread because I've been sewing. I attempted a tulle skirt but didn't care for how it turned out. I've looked at the photos from those of you who posted and read tips and am ready to try again :woohoo:

In the meantime, I've finished a Pooh dress for my youngest. It gave me loads of trouble, but I do like how it looks on her. Thanks for letting me share.

Which one of you creative gals posted the pick of the little hair clips with ribbon and buttons and such on them? I think there was one that was black with white polka dots and then a flower on it.

Anyway, I have been trying to find these kind of clips. Where did you find these? And what are they called?

Thanks!

hi everyone.

i really love the shoes that have been posted recently. i might try and do something like that for my ds8- he likes anything at the moment that has skulls on it. he has been wanting me to make him something like some of the other mums on here have mentioned.

i've been brainstoming a ariel top for dd6. i have a plain white singlet top (the same kind as the one i used for the strawberry shortcake top, i brought a heap of them because they were reduced to $2 as it is winter here) i would like to do ariels whole body with her face on the front but her body continues around one side of dd to finish with her fins on her back. does that make sense?

i have some pictures of the dresses i have been working on. i done shrilling(?i think thats what it is called) on the top, approx 15 lines of it. i still have to add ribbons to tahlias princess dress i dont like the way it looks too old for her wthout them, plus she was jumping on the trampoline earlier and almost lost it much to the amusment of her older brother! i have also made her one using the ariel bubble fabric but its not finished yet. Ash decided she didn't want her picture taken again, so i took one of her back anyway.

i will have to post them later as photobucket is down for maintenance?!
melissa.

Okay ladies- I did my first boys shirt and fancied up some jeans. They are a bit big for ds, but we still have 5 months till WDW so I figure it's better to have it big!! So what do you guys think?

That is awesome! I might have to make a shirt like that for Dallas. I have the fabric setting here. I haven't made one in quite a while that style, since before he was born in fact! I LOVE it!

I would like to do a larger daisy shape with a smaller Mickey head in the middle. But am trying to figure out if I need the middle Mickey head to be a hole or a second applique. A similar look to this keychain...
3187M.jpg

I would cut the applique for the flower and then cut a mickey one for on top. Trying to cut in the middle is not always easiest but can be done.

IF I want to do that I take something simple, this would work, fold in half so I only have to cut out 1/2 the shape but when unfolded is whole, just cut on the line, like when you made valentine hearts in school.

just tring to post pics that i had trouble with earlier.

tahlia- i still have to add some straps to this to help it stay up, plus i think it looks too old on her without them.

Ash - didn't want her photo taken

hope they work this time, melissa

Hi all! I haven't posted in a while, I've been really, really busy! Had a yard sale two weekends ago. I made enough to pay for plane tickets and rental car and $175 for spending money!:cool1: Originally we were driving, so this is great!
I had decided I was done making clothes. I already have more outfits than days being there! I had to make a spreadsheet to figure out which outfits go to what day!!!!!:rotfl: Then Dena had to post that awesome small world outfit. So here is my version! I even made shoes! This is my second attempt at an applique. Not bad I don't think. I still need some more practice. Oh, and I drew the face on. I tried to applique it about six times and kept trashing it.

I love the shoes, can you make my dd a pair?

I was looking through the photobucket link and to my surprise I saw the autograph book I made. I cannot find who posted it in the 6000 posts but, if it was you how did you like it? Did it turn out okay?

Second question does anyone have the mickey head graphic they can share with me so I can try some applique? TIA!

Hi, I was the one who posted the autograph book. It looks great but we won't be using it until next month!! We go in August!!

Hello All - You have all been such an inspiration to me. I used to sew and have just returned from a Disney trip. Unfortunately I found this thread about 10 days before we left for Disney so all I could churn out were some matching t-shirts.

Unfortunately in my area we are definately lacking in stores...and a fabric store is out of the question. I called 9 stores including Jo Ann's Fabrics (45 min away) to see about getting what I needed. Course no one had what I wanted and I didn't want to bother DH with ordering off of Ebay. So I went on an all-out search Monday to find what I needed. I got a cute purple outfit in her size from KMart that had the colors I liked. Then I found a tank top with the most beautiful Ariel applique on it. I bought it too. Then I drove an hour to the fabric store and looked around. Then I went to the mall and the Disney store. Here's where I struck gold. They actually have iron on appliques and they had Ariel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited. I went back to the fabric store and found some green striped fabric that sort of resembled sea weed. I snagged some sea shell shaped buttons and some ribbon and I was all set!!!!

So that evening and all day Tuesday I assembled my Ariel masterpiece. The only problem was that I had never appliqued before. It isnt too hard but does take practice...by the third letter I was getting the hang of it:rolleyes: I tried my best. I would really have to master appliqueing before I actually would sell something but I think it will make a nice gift for our little friend.

Here are pics galore:

You did an awesome job on this! I must have been very tough finding that purple outfit so you can put the Ariel on it. I think it looks cute and your applique looks great! I can get fabric from Wal-mart for you if you need for your next project. Pm me if you want. They have plenty of Ariel, princesses, nemo, pooh, and some tinkerbell as well. Oh yeah, Mickey, too. It runs about 3.94 per yard. I am pretty much there every week getting groceries. Hancocks has some too but I don't get there as much and it's only good if they are having a sale. We also have a hobby lobby that I go to occasionally. There is a rumor going around that our 2 Wally fabric places are closing but the clerk said that it will be open "until further notice" It's always busy there so I don't know what the deal is.

You guys do the best work, I'm so jealous! There hasn't been anything on this thread that I've seen that I wouldn't put on my kids. I love to lurk here and gather ideas. Now I need more ideas for my 4yo ds outside of the button up shirts I've already made, he doesn't need 10 of those! :rotfl2: We also don't want to do pants b/c it will be hot. Is 4 too old for Disney shortalls? He wears his Cars one still we bought so I'm assuming no. Here's some things I got done for the boys and a pic of the pieces I'm putting on white tees to match and then the Dori one is for Ilana's jean jumper.

These aren't the best pics of her dress, but the others are not uploaded yet.
My daughter makes this terrible squishy face when the cameras out and says Cheese, we can hardly get a picture of her not making it!

Ok... I have my 3 rows done for a twirl skirt,,, I am a little nervous since the 3rd row is taller that me lol.

Can someone point me in the right direction to show me how to gather the rows to attach them together.

I just do a basting stitch (the widest stitch my machine has) along the top of the row then pull on the thread to gather it up until it's small enough to fit on the row above. The sew two together (right sides together). Start with the bottom tier and go up.

I have still not mastered getting it all gathered and sewn on perfectly. I always seem to have some puckering and uneven gathers. I know there were some suggestions some ways back on how to get the gathering done evenly but I have no idea how on earth to find them!
