OK - this isn't remotely Disney (although, depending on the response, I may do it in a Disney fabric for our trip in Sept) ---

I made this sundress. I'm fat. No mincing words. Is this something I can get away with or just shouldn't wear? I mean, I'm big no matter what I wear, but does this really look bad? No platitudes please - HONEST opinions. I won't have hurt feelings. (well, truthful facts won't hurt...name calling would make me cry -- note that I called the picture mooooo :rolleyes1 )

I'm posting the link to the picture because I'm to embarrased to have it posted here.

That is gorgeous! I don't think I could make that. I love the fabric, not sure what I think of it with mickey all over it, probably cute though. I honestly think you look fine.

I really like the dress as well. It looks very nice. The Mickey fabric is a little loud. I would use it as an accent. You could do piping or a tie of some kind. I would pick a solid coordinating fabric and use MM as an accent. You could even do Mickey as a hand bag to go with.

I think I would select a less obvious all over print...like the blue with mickey heads all over. The print that you made your dress in is flattering, and I think the Mickey heads print would be too.

Jen your Ariel outfit came together nicely, you did a great job! The ruffle tied it all together, and the red rick rack on the bodice was the perfect finishing touch. I agree with a PP, the sizing does not look off to me...

1st_trip4us the overalls are adorable! Are they stitched or ironed on? Either way, great job!

MouseTriper Piglet turned out really well for your first try, bravo! Faces are harder, painting may be easier! I don't think that Piglets face looks bad though!

Castle, nice job on your latest outfits, good luck at auction!

I am sure there are others I need to post to as I have been out of the loop here for a couple of days, will check back and post again!

A frustrating day of fabric shopping! I have called every Joann's within a 1 hour radius trying to find that mod circle mickey/minnie print - no luck! Don't you hate it when you get your mind set on something and then can't make it happen!

Did I miss something...which mod circle Minnie print?

The title of your picture made me laugh. Mooooo. Anyway, I think the sundress is really pretty and looks fine on you. I like the Mickey fabric, but think it looks too young for an entire dress. I might buy it for my DS1. I really like the idea of using it as an accent fabric with something else.

I love your dress in the photo. I'm pooh sized myself, should I mention that I'm sitting here eating my second piece of cornbread..:rolleyes1, anywho, I never wear anything that shows my arms...but when I'm on vacation, I always think, heck, I'll never see these people again, who cares, and I wear what I would wear if I were thin. Sleeveless dresses, skirts with heels, shorts...egag...the s word...LOL...
Seriously, I like the one in the photo, I'm not so sure about doing it in the mickey print. What about making a mickey head out of that and appliquing it to a white tee, and making some matching capris?

Castle disney-a-go-go is looking for the Mickey/Minnie fabric like you used for your wrap top...big dots with Mickey and Minnie in them....

I have some, I'm not sure how much though...Did you know how much she needs?

I made this one a size 3 in the dress style with a ruffle on the bottom edge instead of the bias tape. The pattern makes either a top like my DD was wearing or a dress.

I think it may end up on a certain auction site.

A tip for anyone making one of these, the pattern calls for you to make a loop and sew it to the back for the ties to go through. I didn't like the way the ties looked when you tied them.

When I made DD's top I left the loop off but the front of the top kinda kept sliding down. I think I will have to go back and add two loops to it.
So when I made this dress I put two loops on instead and it works better.

Will you take the MOO out of your tittle... I love that dress on you.

I am not sure of an all over mickey print though..

Now, before you say "oh my, she posted a pic that almost shows her dds bum" She did have shorts on, so it didn't come up that far!

LOL! I love the twirl skirt! You did a beautiful job. I want to try to make one of those.

Well here it is. It took me a couple of days because I have been so busy but I am pretty happy with Emma's JoJo

I love the Jojo outfit! Great job on the applique!

:lmao:

diet coke all over the screen!!!!

I would like to apologize for all of the ruined computer screens, wet pants, befuddled husbands, and sore cheeks from the laughter my outfits caused. :rotfl:

Ok. Here is my first Disney print top. My dd10 of course will not wear it to school because Pooh is too BABY for her.

I absolutely LOVE that Pooh top! I was thinking I would wear something like that myself, too!

I showed this to Brian (dh) and he was all but rolling on the floor laughing! He couldn't even catch his breath! He really thought the Crocs added just the right touch! :rotfl2:

What? Man, I guess I'll have sell the one I made for Brian on ebay. :sad2:

I will try to remember to post pictures tomorrow of my DD from the wedding. She was a stinker and when it came time to actually be the flower girl she chickened out. I thought that might happen!

I couldn't find any red that I liked, so I went with the mermaid, and put some more rick rack on it :goodvibes

I love the way the Mermaid outfit turned out! I have some Mermaid fabric and I'm trying to figure out what to make with it. One of my flower girls (I had 2) chickened out at the last minute, too. Totally understandable! I can't imagine how scary that must be for a little kid!

For any of you looking for jeans for your boutique outfits and applique projects, I wanted to let you know that our Old Navy's clearance has a lot of jeans. The kids's sizes seem to be mostly $3.97 per pair. Couldn't believe I got DS four pair of Jeans for $15.88!!!!!

I will have to go to Old Navy this week. Thanks for the tip!!

Well I did it! My first sewing attempt in 20 yrs. Please be honest!!!

It turned out wonderfully! I love the fabric you used and your DD is a doll!

Okay....here is my very first attempt of an applique.

You did a GREAT job on the applique!! If you want to try your hand at hand embroidering, LadyRob posted a link to this site that has videos of how to do simple embroidery stitches. I learned a few stitches to make Ariel's face pretty quickly!
http://www.needlenthread.com/2006/10/video-library-of-hand-embroidery.html
After seeing everyone's great applique outfits I decided to give it a try.

Great job! It turned out great and your little guy looks too cute!

You did a beautiful job on the sundress! I think if you wanted to make the dress out of a busier fabric and then wear a solid colored button up cotton shirt over the top, that would be really cute!

Okay, now that I have spent an hour going over the posts from the last day, here's my finished Ariel applique. I'm pretty proud of myself! Thank you so much LadyRob for the embroidery link!! It was super-easy to figure it out after I watched the videos on that site. Now I wish I wouldn't have put this on the back of a sweatshirt. I thought it'd turn out so bad I didn't want to waste a good shirt with it!

Okay....here is my very first attempt of an applique. I chose Piglet because it matched my DD's skirt and shoes...hahahaha! We are going to be eating at the Crystal Palace for the very first time and I thought this outfit would be cute. However.....I have come to the conclusion that I can NOT applique faces....!!!! They are way too hard. I think I may try to redo this and just use paint for the face??? What do you experts think??? I love all the designs and gorgeous outfits you all come up with. I am now officially addicted....!!!! :goodvibes

(Oh and even though you can't really see it in this picture...I used a really cute pink button for the flower that Piglet is holding).

1piglet.jpg

Great job!!! Way to go!!!

After seeing everyone's great applique outfits I decided to give it a try. It's a Pirate Mickey theme. I still want to add a skull print bandana for my son to wear on his head. For the treasure map on the bib part I really love the way this turned out. Kinda hard to tell in the picture, but I chopped up the edges then put fray check on all the cut up part so it wouldn't fray. Well the fray check stiffened the material so it almost sorta kinda resembles paper. It really gave the map part a distressed old treasure map look to it. I also did that on the map on the leg. I still want to add a jolly roger skull flag to the very top of the ship also.

Heather!!!

Your Ariel is AWESOME!! Great job! Want to do one for me ;o)!!!

Great job to everyone who has posted lately - I'm especially impressed by all the appliques (probably because I'm too chicken to try one myself :)).

Anyway, I'm looking for some bows to match some of DD4's Dis outfits. Does anybody have the name of a good seller? If so, please pm me.

TIA

What about this fabric? I'm making Easter dresses out of it and was considering making myself (pooh sized) a skirt or shorts to match the girls.

Ok. Here is my first Disney print top. My dd10 of course will not wear it to school because Pooh is too BABY for her. She will however wear it out with me!?!?! I love it though. It took me a long time but I will keep practicing. She is just out of the shower with pj bottoms on but I had to get it on here. :thumbsup2 The other is a twirly skirt I made from some fabric at Wallyworld. Of course it is too baby too:confused3 , so I will have to resize the elastic for a friend of mines daughter. --- Mindy

Where did you find the pattern for the shirt? My DD would love it.
