Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 2

I made this yesterday. It took me a long time  The pattern said it was an easy 2 hour fashion:lmao: It was harder because I had to cut the pattern at the shoulders otherwise the princesses on the back would have been upside down!

I have to make the pants to go with it still. I didn't get enought fabric to finish. It will be for my niece.

IMG_4860.jpg

What do you think?

I made a skirt out of the fabric for my daughter and she loves it so I know your niece will too. I'm not sure I would have noticed about the upside down princesses on the back until after I cut it out: so good job!

Right now I am stuck on something I am making for my daughter. I thought it would be really simple but it is quickly turning into a headache! I will try to post pictures Thursday when I finish.

I also have pictures of the kids at the 4th parade in their custom outfits to share when I get a minute to download off the camera.

I decided to try to make pjs for me! I wanted this really cute Tink fabric but it was $9.99/yard so I got some pretty clearanced fabric instead. Hope to finish that tomorrow too. Good night!

Thanks! Maybe I will give it a try next time Butterick patterns go on sale at JoAnns. It could be cute to do something like this for MVMCP, then I could layer it over a tee, or a turtleneck -- whatever suits the weather.

BTW, I like your added ruffle. Did you add it to the back piece, too, or just the front?

Thanks! I only added the ruffle to the front. The pants will be made out of the same fabric as the ruffle with the princesses around the bottom of the leg. I am thinking about using some of the purple to add a ruffle to the legs but I am not sure how that would work. I don't know if the princesses will look very good all gathered up. :crowded:

I know it isn't clothes, but I'm so excited. A while back, someone sent me a template for an autograph album. It has over 100 characters and today I finally got it cut and bound with the coil binding. Office Max did it for 5 dollars.

Did you print that out from your computer on card stock paper?? I think that I have that same copy I was trying to be adventurous & make my own but I am having problems with the borders :surfweb: (trying to split the page in the middle) maybe I should just print it out & be done with it. Yours looks great!

Here's my latest creation. It's another "homemade" as opposed to "custom", but my girls love them. DS wanted in the picture, even though he doesn't have a "custom" on. Sorry for the picture quality. I don't know what happened.

A close up of the applique that I did on the sewing machine. It's my first try at appliqueing.
MinnieApplique.jpg

As I said, I sewed the big Minnie applique on the machine. The little Mickey heads around the bottom were another story. It was too hard on the machine, so I hand stitched some of them. Neither way turned out that great. I wished the Minnie applique stitch was closer together, but I couldn't get it to work. I stitched around it twice. I didn't know if that would work, but it looked better. I was too scared to go around a third time. Has anyone done it like that?

Ummm, I don't think I understand the reference between homemade and custom. Arent' all custom outfits homemade? Your outfits are cute and creative. Great job!:thumbsup2

Have you thought about using sheets for fabric? Wiggles fabric is hard to find. We just used Wiggles colors and I cut out the Wiggles yellow "bubble" from a pillowcase. Just a thought... :)

wiggles-1.jpg

That Wiggles outfit is super cute. I love the appliqués. I think a sheet is a great idea. I think another poster suggested that as well. I have only been to Target this week (actually like 50 times waiting for the summer stuff to get marked down to 50% off. I could have saved the more in gas than I will on my fire pit, but it is just principal now ). I really need to get out and look for Wiggles bedding. I am thinking Wal-Mart may have it? I just want to add that I had been boycotting Wal-Mart for 3 years until I found this board. I broke the boycott for Disney fabric! At least it was an important reason.

I am also game for the Toledo area meet up. I live in the Columbus area, but love day trips. I was also bummed when the Columbus area store closed.

OK, we need a new thread titled Toledo area Hancock Fabrics get together, lol! I am also in the Toledo area and would love to meet you all! Imagine the stares we will all get when we storm the place with our custom outfitted kiddos!

Evil Queen...organize it! :thumbsup2

Oh boy! I just realized if we go through with this.... We meet at the door, smiles, maybe a hug... pictures taken with our cuties. We go inside and start fighting and throwing fabric around the store because " I WANT THAT FABRIC". LOL I guess we would have to take a vow to let those living furthest away(ME) buy what ever they (ME) need first, then the rest can get the leftovers :lmao: JK! It would be a lot of fun though!! Can we make it for the end of July, early August?? I have a Birthday party for both the kids on the 22nd, and I really need to get that out of the way before I try to leave the house to go fabric shopping hours away... OH and that will give me time to convince DH I NEED to go :goodvibes :goodvibes

Sounds good to me, I have already bought everything I want from there, lol! :rotfl2: There is also a Hobby Lobby just a few blocks down the street from Hancocks, and they usually have good deals there...

OOOH! I love this, where did you get the fabric??

Here's some things I made in the past 2 days since being inspired by this thread. I wanted to try out the outfits for Disney on other material before using my Disney stuff so here goes. :)

This shirt will go w/ a pair of red pants I'm going to make and have some of the Veggie Tales ruffle at the bottom. The boys will have matching button up shirts from this too and maybe an applique type tee.

This is the front of the other outfit.

These are adorable! You did a great job. I would call them customs!

We are roughly here.....

Cute picture! We are south of you just north of Indiana. The great thing about living in Michigan is that you always have a map on you to show people where you live. :rotfl:

Wow, there are a lot of you guys from Toledo! I was there a little over a week ago, and I'm going back next week. Maybe I should wear my LGMH just in case I pass one of you on the street! :lmao:

I did do the lanyards... and I still have some! :lmao: around 400 of those things are floating around! The meet was a lot of fun. We all went on the jungle cruise together:goodvibes

It is a play area and the state was in the middle, it's at the Michigan welcome center. We stopped there for the kids to stretch their legs. We aren't quite up that high, more like where her left heal is. :lmao:

So does that mean you will join us for a meet????

I've been lurking on this thread for months and I don't even have kids. I just dream of all the outfits I'm going to make my future daughters.

Then I bought these super cute minnie polka dot shoes.

I started thinking I wanted to make a shirt to match them to take a picture with Minnie. I usually do iron-on's but I decided to attempt a custom shirt.

Here's my first ever try...
P7100065.jpg

P7100067.jpg

P7100069.jpg

This took me around 3 hours, but I imagine if I did it again I could do it faster. The hardest part was figuring out how to get the shirt to be stretched out when I was applying the ribbon. It would probably be a lot easier with a t-shirt that doesn't have to stretch.

I used some type of iron on stuff for fabric that TravelinGal reccomended. A big thanks goes out to TravelinGal for putting up with my phone calls and PM's asking questions!

Originally I was going to put one strip of the red polka dot ribbon with black on the top and bottom. After I put on the red ribbon, I tried on the shirt and it was way toooo low. It looked ridiculous. I almost gave up. Then I decided I could just put another strip of red ribbon on top and put the black in the middle. I still felt like it was too low, which is why I put the Minnie up higher.

I love the way it turned out!!!

Funny, when I saw where she was sitting I thought, "hmm, that looks more like 4 hours from Indiana to me." But, now that you say it's by her heal, that looks more like three hours! :lmao:

Hmm, I could possibly drive to Toledo for a meet up! I'm traveling with my parents this next weekend, and we'll be pretty busy. We are going to a convention at the Seagate Center Friday and Sunday, and Saturday we are going to the zoo or the COSI.

It did turn out great!!! I love that you made something for yourself! The shoes are adorable too!

robnkris: I love what you did! Is the Mickey head out of felt? I have been thinking that we need to make something for ourselves and not just for the kids. Those shoes are fierce, but I don't know about walking around Disney in them!

What time does Hancock open? 10am? Okay, let's meet at say... 11am??!! :rolleyes1

Late July/early August would be great!!! Can I just say I can't do Tuesdays, I have a few kiddos I babysit that day. Mondays are AWESOME for me!! How about the rest of you?? Oh, and we are camping Aug. 1-3.

I am really excited about this!!! I think it would be so much fun!!

LOL! Who knew there were so many in the Ohio, Michigan area?!

I could only do a meet-up on a Saturday since I work full-time. (Bah! Work interferes with *everything*) and we're going to be Out of Town the last weekend of July and the weekend of August 10.

Since my schedule is so tight, don't plan around me, but if it works out it would be fun. LOL at *MickeyFan*'s idea of setting up a priority system for who gets what? I wondered the same thing -- or if we should tell them in advance to stock up on Disney stuff! LOL!

I think we/you should all wear nametags when we go so we can recognize each other. I'm chuckling to myself about someone with a nametag that says "1EvilQueen"! LOL!

P.s. Adoptionmomma, sounds like we're pretty close to each other. I'm in Powell.

The shirt came out great...and I love the shoes! LOL! I have the same ones but in brown and white-and wouldn't you know I was looking for them in red and white! :rotfl: Oh well, I got polka dot flips flops and a purse in the red and white dots instead...had to settle! Very cool...You'll look great for your pics with Minnie!! ::MinnieMo

This turned out adorable!!!!! Can you PM your trick on how you figured out how to adhere the ribbon keeping in mind the material was going to stretch? Id like to see if I can make a couple for me and DD.
