Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 2

I would love to be included in the new group too. I've been around the DIS for awhile -- but haven't really posted on this thread except to subscribe and watch all the outstanding creativity. I'm new to sewing -- so new that I've only threaded my machine once. I have a ton of fabric I intend to try to make DD some customs for our December trip.

My point on the ebay thing -- I don't get it exactly ... I have bought the instructions on how to make the custom overalls, t-shirt dresses and pillowcase dresses from ebayers. All of them say that they don't care if you sell your designs from their instructions (the one for the overalls gave me 5 different templates for overall appliques) -- but they all do ask not to sell the instructions (which I can understand). It then seems odd that someone would blast you for creating a similar outfit to one they had made -- since basically there are only a number of designs in the first place???? Sounds to me that some on ebay have their panties in a wad. The reason why people are looking for other avenues is the price of these customs -- that is why I bought the instructions and a sewing machine in the first place.

I would love to be a part of this group on ebay also. I would be buying!! I can not believe now overpriced some of the customs are-- they are very tempting.
Everything on ebay that is a custom seems to be a sight variation of another that I have seen.
Anyway, would love to be in this new group:)

Anyone know where I can get some small (1/2") Mickey shaped buttons?

Thought they would be cute on my guy's shirts...

OK, here's the pants. I used the tired ruffled pants from YCMT.com, and the instructions looked really easy. I started on them Sunday morning, and I thought I would be finished with them by the end of the day. I just finished them yesterday evening. The first ruffle was easy to put on, but the middle took me a while to get on. The third one at the bottom was a real pain in the neck!

I started with a pair of pink shorts from Old Navy.

The shirts they are wearing are only a temporary piece until I get the shirts made to match. I have to get the Wiggles outfits finished before I start on them though. The matching shirt will be made from the same fabric as the middle ruffle (blue background with pink and purple stars).

ETA: The one in the big, red flip flops is really confident that she is wearing those today.
My plans and her plans aren't the same.

OK. . .Glad that this is NOT ebay so people are not mad because I used their idea!!!

This is what I came up with. . . . Not great BUT DD says that she likes it!!!

Well, as you all know. I borrowed that idea for the jumper dress from one I saw on Ebay like over a year ago. Now the eBay sharks are out to get me. I posted the outfit and I'm getting tons of messages from the members of the group about the outfit that I listed. They aren't happy with me.
Now since I have bids, what do I do?
Should I end the auction early and lay low?
Or should I just not respond, and hold my ground. The buttons are different and the pants are totally different, also some of the fabric choices. So it's not exactly the same...:rolleyes1
Any advise would be great. I don't want to get in trouble with Ebay either...

Castle Creations--HOLD YOUR GROUND!! There is a commercial pattern available for this **exact** jumper (Farbenmix Marieke)--Who's to say she (or you) didn't use it to create your original designs? How can she claim a copyright to a pattern company's design, claim it as her own, and say that nobody else can use it to create and sell something? This is completley snobbish and ridiculous! The fabrics you used are the same commercial fabrics available that everyone uses for their Disney outfits. Plus you did a lot to change it up and make it your own by adding pants, ruffles, buttons etc. I'd suggest you forget the sharks in this case and not-so-politely tell them to get off your back! Don't let them bully you again!

Castle, I checked out your ebay auctions and your stuff is so cute:) I just wanted to let you know that if someone is harassing you (or for any reason really), you can add them to your blocked list on ebay. You can blocked certain users from bidding. Just search block bidder under help in ebay. Also, add them to your blocked list in your email account and then they can't email you. I've done this in the past with a rude customer.

Castle Creations--HOLD YOUR GROUND!! There is a commercial pattern available for this very jumper.

You wouldn't wanna tell us who has this pattern wouldja? I am nothing w/out a pattern. I can alter clothes and alter patterns but I gotta have something to start w/.

I am also looking for a pattern for a dress similar to this one...I thought I had one that would work but I can't find it and I couldn't find the same pattern when I looked at Joanne's

I can't wait to get an outfit finished so I can join the club!!! I wanna post a pic of a non related project just so I don't feel left out :rotfl:

Thanks for all your help guys.

Gone for one playdate and missed SO much! I must say I get most of my inspiration from looking at others on ebay, nothing could be an exact match, that is just pretty hard to duplicate exactly. The very first pair of overalls I ever made because the same set sold for $220 on ebay! I actually think mine were cuter too! I so usually sell my son's but still have those. They need some fixing up before selling!

Go ahead and post - what are you working on?

With al the new sites being created I hope everyone still feels ok to post here too! I'd hate to see this thread disappear!! :sad1:

Take care and feel better!

Hello everyone. Thanks for all of the kind words and words of encouragement. I won't be able to be on the computer that much in the next few days. I had a minor surgery yesterday...ouch, and I'm not feeling well today. It might take a couple of days.
Anyhow, I did end the listing. I just didn't want any trouble. To answer some of the questions. No, there item wasn't copyrighted. It hasn't even been listed in a long time. I saw this dress over a year ago and just saved the picture. I used my own pictures and even created my own pattern for the dress. I have had problems with ebay in the past and just didn't want anymore. I don't know if we can put our ebay id's on here or not, but to answer the question, yes I'm castlecreations, but my daughter's first name is Ireland and it's her castlecreations...hint hint...LOL...just pm me.
Yes there is another castle creations, but it isn't me...yes I heard it from her too, but when I showed her that I've had that name as my registered business name for years, she shut up...LOL...
I will be signing off now, I'm getting the sickie sweats...LOL
Thank everyone for giving me some advise...btw..I bought fabric to make sea world outfits....:sad2: just kill me now...I'm totally addicted....

I would love to be included in the new group.

On another note, I just got back from Target and they have new stuff out.
I found the cutest Little Einsteins stuff for boys.
I know it isn't custom but it is cute and I got it for 30% off because they had a clearance sign on the rack. They have shirts with rocket and cute little pants that say "pat pat".

:goodvibes That's too funny, I'm glad you guys want me to feel in the loop..

I am working on figuring out what patterns I'm gonna use to make our WDW outfits- still deciding between Snow white (my daughters name sake-sort of ) or a minnie themed outfit for MK. Keeping my eyes out for some khaki shirt & pant's/ skirt maybe a shritdress, to be converted into a safari themed outfit for AK. Love those animal print Mickey icons!!!
We're going the last week of Oct. so it gets tricky to dress at that time ( I'm a native) cause you never know it could be sweltering hot one day and a cold front will come in the next so I have to come up w/ clever "layerable" outfits. So I always think skirts are a good way to go you can add leggings and warmer shoes. Have a knitting pattern for an apple hat that if we go w/ Snow White I'm gonna make in case it's cool. :) You guys have so sucked me into your twisted little world.

but just for fun(and cause it turned out really great) here is a picture of a diaper bag i just made for a girlfriend. It is Ohio State themed (not my favorite project to work on- I'm a Gator girl) It is an Amy Butler Nappy Bag pattern. I used some light grey baby wale corduroy and printed vintage pictures on some printable poplin fabric, you can't see the patches well but they are fused on w/ heat-n-bond then I finished them w/ a tight zig zag stitch. I was pretty happy with the finished product. I can't wait to make another girly one for me.- Thinking (this is all ya'lls fault) of doing a dis-inspired one for our MNSSHP trip.

Anyone know where I can get some small (1/2") Mickey shaped buttons?

I haven't seen them in person so I don't know if they'll work but I found some Disney buttons in the scrapbook section of Joann's online site. They were mickey head shaped buttons.

I hope you guys don't all leave, I love seeing all your outfits! :flower3:

I would love to be a part of your other group if everyone does decide to leave.

I know someone on here did the Mickey bracelet with all of the different colored Minnie head plastic buttons, if anyone know who this is, can them pm me please. I'd love to get one for my vacation...
