ok, i know this was posted way back and i think again a few pages ago, but my brain is not working (just finished a week of VBS at church) and my son broke my sewing machine a few hours ago (ill get to that in a minute!) so my question is how do i "make" and attach a ruffle from material. so many of these darling skirts have a ruffle made of all of the fabric colors in the skirt and i think i want to try. im gonna put a plain white one on another skirt, but ill buy that ruffle by the yard and walmart and save myself some time!

on to the sewing machine crisis....i finally moved it from the kitchen table to a table in the basement (boy was dh happy!) anyway, my son tripped over the cord and it came crashing off the table. the big black wheel thingie on the side busted to shreds (sorry, dont know its real name!) not the little knob that moves the needle, but the bigger outter wheel/knob thing. the machine actually still sews, but the machine shakes (think washer off balanced) my dh thinks its cause part of that wheel is missing and when it spins around, its off balance. does anyone know if it can be fixed? the machine was a handmedown from mil. its an old (20 + yrs) pfaff hobbymatic. (story goes that she paid a small fortune for it and never used it!) anyway, theres no # to call- just a germany address!:rotfl:

im thinking i should just hint for a new one (bday around the corner). so, whats a good (im basic new sewer- pj pants, twirl skirts), easy to use machine in the $200 price range?

thanks!

I bought my Sears Kenmore for under $200. It's a Consumer Reports best rated machine for the $$$ for several years running. It's a great, easy-to-use machine and *gasp* custom buttonholes are a breeze!

my custom Minnie outfit bought on e-bay...sorry don't remember who origionally made it, it was a resell...

I know her face is dirty. Sorry! Unfortunately her face is messy quite a bit! I'm just so stinkin excited about being able to post pics! Tomorrow, I will post ones with her clean, and in customs hopefully!

Another big thank you to ObssessedwiththeMouse and ebay! When I saw this, I knew I had to try it so here is my Belle outfit. It's nowhere near as nice as the original but it only cost me a couple of dollars as opposed to a couple hundred dollars. :thumbsup2

Congratulations on another great outfit. You have so many!

Hi Everyone! I've had a lot going on so please forgive me about not posting lately. Here is an outift I made yesterday. I had this retro Mickey fabric, but a tiny amount of it. I've held onto it for about a year. So this is what I finally did with it. I also saved enough for a hairscarf, headband.

Minnie tote bag?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Has anyone seen a really good custom tote bag? I was watching the Disney vacation planning guide and they show a shot of a family walking up to the castle and the mom has a really cool Minnie tote bag. I looked at my husband and said "I WANT HER BAG!!".

This is so funny! :goodvibes I said the exact same thing to my husband when we saw the video. He even contacted stores at Disney and searched online trying to get the bag for Mother's Day- but no luck. Can anyone help? We're going to DW in Sept. and would love to have that bag!

First trip and can't wait!!!

I can't believe it. I just finished the most darling Minnie inspired top for my dd. It was absolutely stunning! The last step was to simply put a snap in it.

My DH has noticed my little sewing obsession lately and brought me home a new little gadget to feed my obsession--a snap plier tool kit (bless his heart--he wanted to do something nice). I'd always either sewed in my snaps or just done it the old fashioned way, but I wanted to give his little gift a try. So after giving it a few tries on scrap fabric, I was ready to try it on my darling little top. Well, it uses a soft rubber to hold the snap pieces into place which much to my distress shift when pressure is applied sending the snap prongs jutting out all over--ripping a HUGE dime-sized hole in my new top:eek: :sad1: I can't believe it. I'm so discouraged right now I could cry. It's beyond repair and I'm almost too discouraged to start it over again due to the bad memories. Maybe I'll remake the top after I've moved on to something else with better success. I just can't believe it, aside from the stupid snap, the top worked perfectly---130" of ruffle detailing and all. :sad2:

*LadyRob* Your Belle set is amazing!! Did you take your appliques to an embroiderer after all? It looks stunning!! I love it!

Oh noo..... I'm so sorry. Where is it on the dress? You could put a small patch on the underside and a "hidden Mickey on the outside.

Again, I'm so sorry.

Ohhh... I am heart-broken *with* you. That would be horrible...especially for us novice sewers. Will you still post a pic? I promise to ignore the hole. I bet it would have been beautiful.

On a not-quite-as-tragic-but-still-frustrating note, last night I finished a new pair of pajama pants for DS. The last thing I did was trim off the threads. While doing so, I got a little excited with the scissors and accidentally snipped a hole in the fabric. I was so upset. It's not a huge hole, but I imagine it will get bigger (and it's right on the edge of the waistband, so I can't cover it up with a patch or anything). And this pair of pants turned out really well...untill then.

I pieced all of the appliques together except Belle. Originally, I tried to piece her but her face looked more like the "beast" than the "beauty". :scared1: I decided to give up on that and just so happen I found a pillow panel at Walmart. As far as the name, I printed that from Print Shop and appliqued it.

:rotfl:Too funny!

No embroiderer yet but I've found that I will need one for my princesses. Those faces are hard to do.

:rotfl: Girl, we have the same taste! I'm going to post the original (I only paid $150 for it---what a steal  ) Yours looks so similar! I like that your fabric is different. Ours will be worn over Christmas, so I like my corduroy material, but love your fabric for a regular trip!!
