Hello Creative Disers - you have all inspired me to try to make something! I know I saw quilted safari Mickey heads on ebay before. If anyone know the seller can you please PM me the information because I cannot seem to find them. Thanks!

Also thanks for posting all your pictures - hopefully I will have some to share too. Also - if there are any good ebayers to watch please let me know - I have not been successful with the search functions.

I got mine from eBay seller paulelyseandi. This was it on DD's Animal Kingdom set. :)

This seller has been recommended before and is very helpful. If you don't see what you want currently listed, just contact her and let her know what you need.

This has nothing to do with Disney but Gracie celebrated her very first Independence day today and she celebrated by wearing the dress I had made and she originally wore to the US Consulate appointment in China in November 06. It was at that appointment that we took an oath so that she would be a US citizen when we landed in the US. The dress was huge in November and fits great now.

I love that dress and the bows!

And I'm still here trying to get myself motivated enough to get the junk cleaned off of my sewing table so I can get started!

You might consider yourself lucky! You see, those of us who have started are having a hard time getting anything else done... it's VERY addictive!

Everyone needs to get a good night's rest tonight because in the morning I will be unveiling a new set of outfits that I finished today. ;) :)

I can't wait!!

Okay, you people are so inspiring (especially my sister, teresajoy)!! I haven't made an outfit since I tried making my nephew a baby outfit 15 years ago. I think it's still too big for him (yeah, it was pretty rediculous looking). So, keep in mind that I'm a novice when you look at the pictures. :cutie:

I bought a Minnie Mouse t-shirt for $3, a yard of pink and black dot fabric for $3 and a yard of black organza for $1, all at WalMart. I already had the ribbons. I'm just beside myself with excitement! So, I'm going to post the picture of the dress without my adorable daughter modeling it (she's not home and I can't wait). Here's what I made! :woohoo:

The dress is fantastic! Sewing is a bit like riding a bike-it comes back to you.

Well, a girl loses internet for a day & a half and see what happens... you all pass 300 pages! I'm back now but there is no way I can comment on all the posts. You all have shown some great stuff in the last couple of days!

Awww, she looks so cute! So, you CAN sew!
I wait for joannes to have a sale and stock up or I use the coupons they send in the mail or sunday paper. my mom helps and gets a set at her house and I borrow them and use hem too! Oh and joannes will use michaels coupons for anything in the store except a cut of fabric! that may help.

I didn't know they took Michael's coupons. I will have to look into that!

Yeah, but you didn't see that outfit! No, it wasn't that bad really! She did make Corey some cute little jean type pants that he wore the day he came home from the hospital. The girls have now confiscated them for their dolls!

Mono~Rail ITS THE MORNING! Where are the new outfits? I can't wait to see. When DS and DD get up and moving, I am off to Joanns for some tulle to attempt a tutu!

LOLOL I thought the same thing!! I seem to remember the curtain rod was still in the "dress" wasn't it? It gave her great shoulder pads! LOL

Yes, with the curtain rod still in the dress. It makes me laugh everytime I think about it. I think that skit has become as much a classic as the movie -- almost.

On searching e-bay: the JoJo was listed as J@J@. To tell you the truth I think I just stumbled upon it. It's still listed - I think she has it listed all the time.

Boy, she has some cute stuff. Love her shoes.

Here's a pic of the shorts I made for DS1. I DID IT!!!! If you remember, oh 20 or so pages ago, I was having a hard time sewing shorts. They kept bunching up in the middle. I figured it out and here they are! I bought a tank top and put a Nemo & Dory patch on it to match.

NemoShorts.jpg

They're a little big, but I don't care. I'm just so excited that I finished them. Now to figure out that applique stuff.....

Chantell

Nice work. Shorts can be tricky at first, but easier once you get the hang of them.

ok,i know this topic has been discussed over 100x, ... so im feeling daring and adventurous and want to try an applique. but i dont even know where to start. for example, a basic black mickey head. i have the template from somwhere on this thread. i print it out, then what? i trace that to black fabric, then stick it on some of that fusible stuff, then stitch around it. please help!!!

I am by no means an expert, but this is what I've done for the few I've made. You'll need your pattern, your fabric for the applique and what you're putting it on), some heat and bond (or something like it), and some stabilizer. The heat and bond has a paper backing, so you draw your design on that. Cut out around your design -- not exactly on the lines. Then cut out your fabric for you applique the same size as your heat and bond. Follow the directions to bond it to your applique fabric. While the paper is still on it, trim to the correct size. When you have the size you want, peel off the paper and bond it to your top, skirt, etc. Now you need to put some stabilizer on the underside of what you'll be appliquing -- again just a bit bigger than the applique. Next you use a satin stitch (or a zig zag stitch with a really short length) and sew around your applique. Practice on some scrap fabric until you get the stitch length and width you want. Tie of your thread ends and trim off any excess interfacing (stabilizer) and you're done. At least, this is what I've been doing. If this isn't correct or if I'm missing a step or if there is an easier method, please feel free to correct me. After all, I'm still learning, too.

I went to Joann's for the tulle too. The cutter looked at me funny when I told her how much I wanted, but it wasn't as much as yours! (32 yards I think).
I found some Cheetah fabric, because I wanted to make the Wild Minnie Princess dress from the site Tink posted a few pages back. But, I didn't get it because it wasn't on sale. Then, on the way home, it occured to me, "Duh! I have a 40% off coupon!!! I think they would have done the 40% and then the 10% if I used them today! I'll still go back to get it, but I'm just kicking myself for not thinking of that while I was there! I also loaded up on a bunch of clearance fabric for an additional 50% off + my 10%, I got some cute stuff!

Well, I didn't get all of the same color. You know, a few yards of this and a few yards of that. I truly didn't realize how much it was until I wrote that post. However, I have enough to make some for all the upcoming holidays through maybe next Easter. I'll be a tutu making machine, and I don't even know if my girls will wear them or not. They may all get listed.

Everyone needs to get a good night's rest tonight because in the morning I will be unveiling a new set of outfits that I finished today. ;) :)

Okay, so it's morning, and I'm well rested..... :rotfl:

Glad you're back, Tink. Cute dress. Now did you make it or did you have someone else make it? Cute nonetheless. Happy belated Independence Day, Gracie. We're glad you found your way home.

I have a few friends who will give me their coupons, too.

Awwww... .she looks so adorable! Darn -- and I didn't even think of dressing my kids up cute for their embassy appointments. :confused3 Of course, for DS we had to go in the back way and climb through a razor wire fence (a month after 9/11). But still, no excuse for DD. And the dress you have was *so* cute!!!

So, where were your children born, design_mom? I wish my dh would finally agree to adopt. <sigh>

Well, we have swim class and a library even this morning, and I told my girls they could have a friend over this afternoon. I'm hoping that means I'll get some sewing in. Have a great day everyone.

I'm waiting for one of them to get up so I can get them dressed. They won't let me just put clothes on them to try out. They have to know that we are getting dressed for the day to go out or they cry and say what I'm trying to put on them is "ugly." Little stinkers! :)

Well, as you all know. I borrowed that idea for the jumper dress from one I saw on Ebay like over a year ago. Now the eBay sharks are out to get me. I posted the outfit and I'm getting tons of messages from the members of the group about the outfit that I listed. They aren't happy with me.
Now since I have bids, what do I do?
Should I end the auction early and lay low?
Or should I just not respond, and hold my ground. The buttons are different and the pants are totally different, also some of the fabric choices. So it's not exactly the same...:rolleyes1
Any advise would be great. I don't want to get in trouble with Ebay either...

It's really up to you, but my understanding is that if it's different and not exact, then you're ok. Others might be able to site specifics.

Ok, I've been lurking here for weeks. I just wanted to say that 1. My friends and family already thought I was WDW NUTS but now they think I'm certifiable. And 2. there have been so many GREAT ideas that I am indecisive about whether I want a Minnie themed outfit or Snow White for my daughter for MK. Of course I have all the other outfits planned-I'm so excited. Thanks for all the inspiration and for making me crazier than I already am.
...t.

Question about patterns.

I have a pattern that includes both shorts and capris. The shorts use the same pattern pieces as the capris but are cut off shorter. I would like to make some shorts first, but I might want to make capris in the future, so I hate to cut up (ruin) the pattern.

Has anyone had this dilemma? How did you solve it?

CastleCreatiions -- I know nothing about eBay, but yuck! I'm so sorry they're out to get you.

Nice job and welcome to our obsession.

Thanks, I think! I feel like I'm not getting much done since I started obsessing over these clothes! Every outfit I see, I think "how could I turn that into a Disney item? How is that put together?

:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: :yay: THAT'S MY SISTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yay: :yay: :yay: :yay:

That turned out SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute Heather!!!!!! I can't wait for Lydia to get one! I could only find the shirt in white, but I think it will look cute too!!!

I am so excited! Look at you, all sewing and everything! I'm so proud!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Aw shucks, Teresa, you're too sweet!

The dress is fantastic! Sewing is a bit like riding a bike-it comes back to you.
Welcome to the Disney Boutique Fanatics anonymous club!!!

Thanks, glad to be a member! I don't think I was ever on the bike, this is all pretty new to me. I am discovering that I really love to sew, though!

My daughter woke up this morning and wanted to try her dress on right away. So, here she is modeling her new dress. She seems to think that putting your head on your shoulder is a "modely" thing to do. :cutie: For anyone who thinks this dress is a little more formal than the board is intended. Believe me, this is casual compared to most of the stuff she wears!

This dress was cute anyway but on it looks adorable! Great work. I have been sewing by hand, waiting unil I have the money to get a machine so I am inspired by you that you could do something like this as a new sewer.

I don;t know Ebays stance but I don't see it being a problem. They are just upset b/c now they have competition. If you are worried you could probably email Ebay and see what they say:confused3

Stick it out! I hate all of these crazy Nazi like people !!! What is the difference between that and everyone "adding' to the Walmart dress? You take an idea, and embelish upon it, it's not like you're selling it saying "Hey LOOK buy this, it's the same thing as ..(insert other sellers name) only cheaper"

If your clothes were close to my daughters size, I would bid on them , and it has nothing to do with a favorite of anyone elses, it is because I love the quality of your work. I fell the same way about the other poster here who got lots of grief. Don't let the "Monkeys" get you down!!!

ok,i know this topic has been discussed over 100x, but dh brought me home a new sewing maching (remember a few pages back i said ds broke my old handmedown) anyway, i got a new one! so im feeling daring and adventurous and want to try an applique. but i dont even know where to start. for example, a basic black mickey head. i have the template from somwhere on this thread. i print it out, then what? i trace that to black fabric, then stick it on some of that fusible stuff, then stitch around it. please help!!!

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but when you use heat n'bond to use the LITE not ULTRA.

Lisa---that is aweful! I would keep the auction up. If the outfit is different than I don't think the other seller can do anything. Your work is beautiful. I had the kids in their safari sets the other day and got so many compliments!
