Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 2

Okay, I'm hoping someone (with more experience and/or a better eye than I!) can help me find a 3rd fabric for a Cars twirl skirt for my dd . . ..

I already have red Lightning fabric and a checked flag type like .

What do y'all think? A bigger, 'waving' checkered flag print like? Or maybe something with the yellow in it?

I just don't seem to be having any luck finding the right fabrics for my 1st project! TIA!!!

There was a girl's outfit listed on eBay recently that used the red Cars and checkered fabric you have along with the blue fabric from the Cars line. Everything looked so cute together!

Here's a pic of the shorts I made for DS1. I DID IT!!!! If you remember, oh 20 or so pages ago, I was having a hard time sewing shorts. They kept bunching up in the middle. I figured it out and here they are! I bought a tank top and put a Nemo & Dory patch on it to match.

They're a little big, but I don't care. I'm just so excited that I finished them. Now to figure out that applique stuff.....

I think it's very "cool". I get yelled at when I say cute for a boy. Since we go in Spt, I make Kirsta's stuff large, then she can have them for play the next summer.

Good for you!!! I love to hear "success stories" because soon I will be in the same boat as you - trying to figure things out!!

In the last week or so, I have spent a boat load (well, more than I would want DH to know about!!) on fabric and materials to make lots of outfits for the girls for our Dec. trip.

I even purchased one of those rotary cutters and a mat; they were 60% off with my coupon.

Now I just need to figure out where to start!!! That's probably half of my battle.

Lisa

I put all of my dds hairbows in a small rectangular style tupperware type container when travelling. It packs *really* well, prevents crushing, and takes up minimal space.

ok,i know this topic has been discussed over 100x, but dh brought me home a new sewing maching (remember a few pages back i said ds broke my old handmedown) anyway, i got a new one! so im feeling daring and adventurous and want to try an applique. but i dont even know where to start. for example, a basic black mickey head. i have the template from somwhere on this thread. i print it out, then what? i trace that to black fabric, then stick it on some of that fusible stuff, then stitch around it. please help!!!

also, what does everyone use to stiffen their bows?

Okay, you people are so inspiring (especially my sister, teresajoy)!! I haven't made an outfit since I tried making my nephew a baby outfit 15 years ago. I think it's still too big for him (yeah, it was pretty rediculous looking). So, keep in mind that I'm a novice when you look at the pictures. :cutie:

I bought a Minnie Mouse t-shirt for $3, a yard of pink and black dot fabric for $3 and a yard of black organza for $1, all at WalMart. I already had the ribbons. I'm just beside myself with excitement! So, I'm going to post the picture of the dress without my adorable daughter modeling it (she's not home and I can't wait). Here's what I made! :woohoo:

That turned out SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute Heather!!!!!! I can't wait for Lydia to get one! I could only find the shirt in white, but I think it will look cute too!!!

I am so excited! Look at you, all sewing and everything! I'm so proud!!!! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Great Job on the shorts! once you get it they aren't so hard!!! Keep it up!

Another use for the tutu?? Happy Fourth of July everyone!!

Here is a real picture, but personally, I like the other one the best!

I like them both, but the one on her head is pretty darn cute!!!!! She is adorable!!!

300 pages! Woo hoo!!!

You ladies are so inspiring! I'm not an avid sewer, but you all make me want to be!

I made some bows the other night to match the Mickey Swirl fabric, I thought they came out pretty nice. I made a polymer clay Mickey head for the center!

That is cute!

I just ordered a matching tee for DS. He'll be 2 when we go. The tee will have Goliath on the front.

The back will match DD.

She's going to squeeze me in between orders (since it's only a tee). I should have it early next week!!! :woohoo:

The JoJo outfit is really cute! I can't wait to ee your son's!

I just wish I had a little girl to dress up! Something tells me that my nearly 16 year old son isn't interested in a twirl skirt. :confused3

A friend of mine will be in WDW at the same time as us in December so I have whipped up a few things for her little one. They are in the mail right now, I can't wait to see what she thinks!

I don't know, I wouldn't mind a twirl skirt!

Happy 4th everyone and happy page 300!!!

I love the outfits that have been posted. The older Nemo looks great and the older Minnie dot. Loved the remade curtains. Very cute. Who remembers Carol Burnett's "Gone With the Wind" spoof? Not that your outfit reminds me of those in any way whatsoever. It's just that someone mentioned the curtains in GWTW and I can't think of them without thinking about Carol Burnett.

I also love the JoJo set. Very cute. I must be terrible at searching eBay. I have searched for things like this and nothing like this has ever shown up.

Oh, and I love the tutu pics. I just went to Joann's today and bought probably 50 yards of tulle in all different colors. It was on sale for $.49/yard, and I had a coupon for 10% off my entire order. Okay going back and doing the math. I think I bought closer to 100 yards. :scared1:

I'm sorry if I missed anyone. It is just so hard to keep up.

I went to Joann's for the tulle too. The cutter looked at me funny when I told her how much I wanted, but it wasn't as much as yours! (32 yards I think).
I found some Cheetah fabric, because I wanted to make the Wild Minnie Princess dress from the site Tink posted a few pages back. But, I didn't get it because it wasn't on sale. Then, on the way home, it occured to me, "Duh! I have a 40% off coupon!!! I think they would have done the 40% and then the 10% if I used them today! I'll still go back to get it, but I'm just kicking myself for not thinking of that while I was there! I also loaded up on a bunch of clearance fabric for an additional 50% off + my 10%, I got some cute stuff!

This is Princess Lexi. I made her dress for her 1st Bday pictures. I don't think you can tell, but I put tuffs of tulle around the hem and a matching bow. I couldn't keep the hair bow in her hair, so I ended up using an old headband and hooking the bow to that. Then I couldn't get her shoes to fit on her big feet! But they fit last month when I got them. But we made it through the photos. I didn't notice at the time the pictures were taken, but in the background, you can see little fairies. I think next pictures may have to be in a Tinkerbelle dress.

Oh my gosh! She is BEAUTIFUL!!!! I love the dress! Those fabrics are gorgeous!!! It really compliments her coloring too! SOOO Adorable! Oh, it makes me want another one!

Those turned out great! I'm glad you stuck with it and figured it out!

Everyone needs to get a good night's rest tonight because in the morning I will be unveiling a new set of outfits that I finished today. ;) :)

And I'm still here trying to get myself motivated enough to get the junk cleaned off of my sewing table so I can get started! You are putting me to shame. I don't even have 2 year old twins as an excuse not to get working!

Well, a girl loses internet for a day & a half and see what happens... you all pass 300 pages! I'm back now but there is no way I can comment on all the posts. You all have shown some great stuff in the last couple of days!

This has nothing to do with Disney but Gracie celebrated her very first Independence day today and she celebrated by wearing the dress I had made and she originally wore to the US Consulate appointment in China in November 06. It was at that appointment that we took an oath so that she would be a US citizen when we landed in the US. The dress was huge in November and fits great now.

I wait for joannes to have a sale and stock up or I use the coupons they send in the mail or sunday paper. my mom helps and gets a set at her house and I borrow them and use hem too! Oh and joannes will use michaels coupons for anything in the store except a cut of fabric! that may help.

Awwww... .she looks so adorable! Darn -- and I didn't even think of dressing my kids up cute for their embassy appointments. :confused3 Of course, for DS we had to go in the back way and climb through a razor wire fence (a month after 9/11). But still, no excuse for DD. And the dress you have was *so* cute!!!
