Would someone please either PM me or direct me to the directions for appliques? Thanks!

I also wonder if the directions for the skirts made with vertical strips have been posted. Can't seem to find them in my browsing. Thanks again!

I have never sewed a shorts without a pattern. takes the guessing out of the crotch seams. that never sews right for me without a pattern.

Lori

OMG! Those are our dates too! So if you see a crazy lady running up to you yelling "You must be Tink!" it'll be because I recognize you from the board. LOL!

That will be funny! We're staying at Port Orleans, how about you?

Lori do you mind if I ask what pattern specifically you use? :confused3 I want to mimic your ds' outfits. I have been all over the internet for a pattern but can't find one! :surfweb: Hey imitation is the best form of flattery right?? :rotfl2:

Sorry to hear about your finger...I did the same thing with mine and never used it again. I feel your pain!! :sad2:

I am wonbdering if Mono~rail's screw on the back of the rotary cutter is on too tight. You can loosen it and the wheel blade will spin better. Try that. I have been using one for 16 years and can't quilt or sew without one. Don't give up!!!

BTW, they are great for cutting curtain fabric! Esp those long lengths!

Your outfit is so cute. I love the top, and the poofy crotch, doesn't look too poofy, It will be comfy for her.
how did you do the letters on the top? Is that her name, Sailor? Too cute!!

I used iron letters I found at Hobby Lobby. And for the Mickey head if anyone wants to know, that is actually an iron on patch. Dritz brand, the big black one my mom used to put on inside the knees of my jeans. I scrapbook, and have a Cricut cutting machine with the disney cartridges. I just stuck the patch on the cutting mat, in about ten seconds I have mickey head any size from 1 in to 5.5 inches.

And yes, that's my girl Sailor Isabelle!

ok my fellow disers I have 2 questions!
1. I made the lovely tulle skirt out of that pink/black walmart mickey fabric! Do you think a black tank top with the same mickey fabric as the mickey siloutte applique is too dark for summer? Or should I stick with a standard white.
2. We are going july 7th - 14th any other disers going then!

Lori

I haven't sewn shorts in a while, but was thinking of tracing my sons. Have them folded in half and cut for seams, not sure if it will work or not, but the fabric should end up looking like the pattern a PP pointed out. I have used a pattern in the past but couldn't find one the other day and then didn't know what size I wanted. A pattern half the time to me is a foreign language anyways.

I made DS a bib to match his crib set and high chair. It was about 4 years ago and the only thing I had sewn before that was his crib set. It was simple. I'll take a picture in a bit and post it. Have to take one of an outfit also, so guess I should do that.

I'd go with black.

Not a problem. For the shorts I always go wiht a simplicity pattern I use #4203. I do not remember what the front looks like. it goes from sizes 1/2 - 4. I use that for all o-4 sizes I make. Girls or boys. shorts are shorts. But I think you could use almost any shorts pattern. I like that one, I used just that one for the last year, I am not sure what happen to the other parts of the pattern, bought it just for the shorts!

Thanks for the comment! We leave in 12 days (not that I am counting) and I made 8 little shorts outfits for him, plus overalls etc. my hubby thinks I am nuts, but babies never stay clean and he has to look good at disney!

Lori

Ok, I have decided to take a stab at a twirl skirt for my daughter for the 4th of July. There is an e-book with patterns and instructions on that YCMT website but it's $12.95, which seems kind of steep. I was going to go to Joann's tonight to look at patterns there and see if there is an easy one for less.

There is an absolutely cute outfit on Ebay that I am planning on copying: except it is brown and pink. It has an Old Navy tank with a star sewed on in the skirt fabric. I can't wait until I put the kids to bed so I can start my mission!

Did anyone else make an outfit for the 4th? I would love to see them!

Thank you so much Lori! I'm brand new to sewing but I'm determined to try. If I fail miserably I will be bugging you for some customs when you get back!!! :rotfl2: Enjoy your trip and take tons of pictures of course!

I just painted right on the shoes without priming. I used regular fabric paint. It didn't say anywhere on the bottle that I should prime first, so I didn't. I don't know if it will come off easily--I figure if they look good for the 2 or 3 days that I want them to wear them in the park, then I will have gotten my money's worth. The shoes were only $6 at Walmart and it took me maybe an hour to do each pair.

Just went to Walmart (very pricey little shopping trip today). Got the sneakers for both me and DD and I will give the fabric painting a whirl. Thanks for the info. ;)

oh, feel free to bug me. I enjoy sewing. Shorts are a great first thing to master in sewing! have any questions ask me!

Lori

Here is the bib. I decided I must have made 2 of them because I sewed on velcro to close them up and there is nothing on this one, just open, so I never used it.

His whole room was out of this fabric and one more pooh one that coordinated. I made everything I could think of for it! Even his boppy pillow matched, highchair pad, organizer, diaper holder. Everything! I had so much fun.

Oh, I just traced a bib I had for the pattern.

These are 6-12 months. I have no use for them, just killing time until I bought some jeans I needed to get so I'll eventually list them on ebay.

Back of dress. I still have the bows to attach. Red on front and black on back. They also have a little diaper cover with a Mickey head on the butt.

Ok Girls! I have 3 outfits to share. While viewing, please keep these things in mind: I hand sew, they aren't perfect, Only the Pooh dress is done, The Nemo gauchos still need to be hemmed and the appliques on the top haven't been stiched around, the ice cream dress' applique is unfinished as well. I just couldn't wait to share!!! The Pooh dress is for MK and dinner at CP, Nemo for Epcot and dinner at Coral Reef, Ice Cream dress and bow for night at Boardwalk and dinner at Beaches & Cream.

I just love the Beaches and Cream outfit! Do you recall where you bought the fabric? I like all the outfits! I just bought that Pooh fabric at Walmart, not sure what I'm going to do with it yet though.

Hi everyone! I just wanted to say that I LOVE this thread. I've lurked around for some time and wanted to say first that you all are very talented! I love looking at your beautiful craftsmanship. I'm a beginning sewing, I wanted to do something fun for my girls and started when they were 5 (now 7). I've taken a three month sewing class and learned from an old timer :flower3: I'm still rusty and have a long way to go...but I wanted to share with you my girls latest outfits. They were flowers in their school play right before the end of the year. Not too bad without a pattern?

I'm working on matching outfits for their first trip to DW this October. Any must do outfit recommendations?

I should add...I only had a week to do their outfits!

Very inventive! I think they are very cute! :cutie:

I remember when I saw it I thought it looked very summery. However...this is Florida and WDW, so I think pretty much anything goes :)

I just checked Joann's online and they didn't have it. We don't have any around here either. We're going on vacation soon so I'll check a few fabric stores then. Thanks for the info!

I think I may have a bunch of it if anyone is interested....

I don't have a Hobby Lobby near me....:sad2: I wish I did, I love those letters...
Sailor is too cute!!
I love the idea of the iron on patch for the Mickey.
