Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 2

The kids are all so lovable. They remind me of my 5-year old niece Belinda. It's gonna be her birthday next month and I'm planning to give her an Alice in Wonderland costume. That's her favorite Disney cartoon character. Do you know where I can find her one? If not Alice costume, she probably would appreciate a Jasmine or Ariel outfit. Hope you can help. Thanks!

For Alice, I used McCalls 4567 last year. It's an easy stitch-n-save. Peter Pan collar, puffed sleeves, gathered skirt, pinafore.

It also has Minnie Mouse, Dorothy (Oz), and two others.

Dress for DD she has told me that she is never wearing this. I am trying not to cry. But I will be packing it for our upcoming trip.

All of your outfits are cute! I would let your dd pick out a necklace and bracelet to match her "top" and ask if she'd rather wear capris under it or wear it alone. Letting her make some of the choices might help, I know it does with some of mine! Good luck!

It depends on how much fabric you have, but you could try putting everything for each project in the 2 gallon Ziploc bags and then put them all in a plastic tub. Just a thought.

Great idea! I have a bookshelf in my sewing/classroom that I sort - top shelf is for fabric that I have an idea for and bottom shelf is for "someday".

Here is my latest outfits for my girls and the bag I made to match.

Too cute! Since I homeschool, my kids never get this kind of stuff. I guess I could do it anyway, but I might stick to making something special for field trips.

I LOVE my new Mickey purse:love: . I cannot wait to use it tomorrow. I made the pink one for my mom--it matches her scrubs. I also made the halloween one for her-- she loves candy corn. I love making these. It is alot of fun!!! ---- Mindy

I love the Mickey purse: did you use a pattern? I would use it everyday!

My daughter wants me to tell you that the pink and black one is beautiful.

"pack-rat with style" is what my best-friend calls it.

WOW! That's all I have to say about that!

Amy, would you PM me how to make those? I have the pages, but not sure how to do the covers.

I'm loving the skirt almost as much as that pose! I have that Cinderella fabric, but only a FQ of it and I'm trying real hard to decide what to do with it. I've seen so many cute Cinderella outfits that I'm having a hard time deciding. I don't want to ask DD, because it's a surprise for their breakfast at CRT (which is also a surprise!)

Has anyone used the Disney embroidered stickers from the scrapbooking section? Do you sew these on to make them permanent - or do you use the heat-n-bond? TIA

I sewed mine on by hand, ruined two needles and one thumb :headache: .

Wow those are cute! I love the Mickey purse! Did you use interfacing or anything in between the two layers? I may have time to make myself a little bag to go with my shirts. So cute.:thumbsup2

I used fusable interfacing on both layers (outer and lining) and was pleased with that. On the Mickey one (it is for me:earsboy: ) I used some really thick interfacing that was not fusable. It was kind of a pain but that purse sure stands up straight!!! I most likely will stick to the fusable on both layers. :)

I am going to use the Mickey purse everyday. I used a pattern for a square bottom bag and added the extra fabric panel on top and the ribbon. It is really easy once you do one you don't even need directions anymore.

Thank you very much to your daughter who I think is named Megan just like my daughter ;) (saw her name on her frog shirt). The pink one has pink/black ball fringe on it but only the black ones showed up in the photo. --- Mindy

Can anyone point me in the direction of a pattern or instructions for a peasant shirt and a corset?

I LOVED this fabric too!!! I bought this outfit...

I liked the fabric SOOOO much that I bought some and made this to go with it!!! I didn't even know how to sew when I bought the fabric!!!!

I saw that outfit on an auction site. It is SO cute! You did a great job on the matching shirt!

Here are a few more pictures from our last week trip.

I adapted the licensed pattern for the Snow White outfit. I made it in cotton and the two fabrics actually have a subtle print. I don't know why, but when I saw them at Joann I immediately thought "Snow White." We lost the knot cover for the cape so my daughter kept yanking the cape back on her neck.

It's a little known fact that Belle wore pink Crocs when walking into her poor provincial town. I had carefully packed perfectly coordinating footwear for all of my girls' outfits, but some things are not worth arguing about.

We've all seen this outfit multiple times. Here's my version:

These AK/Minnie shirts turned out to be one of my favorites. They each had a matching bow that I bought from a really great auction site seller.

I am looking for a simple shorts pattern for my DN. Problem is her waist is 35" and nothing matches to that measurement. One pattern even said a women's size 22-24. She is definitely not that big. When I look at the finished measurements, it seems to make more sense size wise. Should I be looking only at finished measurements??

UtahMama I keep meaning to say this, but I love your chickens quote. I say that all the time to my kids!!

ChevyNat Beautiful outfits for beautiful kids!!

I thought it might be fun to know where everyone lives -- if you don't mind sharing.

I'm in Lafayette, TN which is north of Nashville and actually closer to Bowling Green, KY. I'll be in Atlanta in August for a Def Leppard concert!

Ok 2 things today....First does anyone have a resource for getting "trim" at very good discounts or pricing.

I use ribbonretreat.com and ribbonspot.com

I love this Ariel combo, very creative!

i made my dd this cute little tinkerbell skirt out of leftover fabric that i had laying around...

so let me know what ya all think...i have been in awe of everyone's designs...

Good job!

Here are a few more pictures from our last week trip.

Gorgeous, of course!

Ok, there's a short corset in this pattern

http://www.mccallpattern.com/item/M4952.htm?tab=costumes&page=3

But when I look at that I think - ok how simple could that be? Do I need to buy the pattern just fot that one piece?

Does this sound like it would work?

Measure around DD's waist - and figure out how tall I want the corset to be. Cut two pieces of fabric that size (adding seam allowances - but subtracting just a bit from the length so that it will leave just a little gap for the opening at the front). Sew it together with interfacing or something in between two layers to give it a little bit of body. Set grommets on each end of the rectangle and then thread ribbon through to make the tie in the front. If I wanted, I could do a gathered ruffle on the bottom.

Does that sound like it would work at all?

I have made several diaper bags and that is the problem, eventually they flop over. I noticed yours stood up really well:thumbsup2 I like a good stiff bag ya know ;) Do you know the name of the interfacing you used for the Mickey bag? I love it. DId you just use the directions Princessfsw posted for the cute little apple bag?

Thanks.

I would buy a pattern that matches her normal pants size. I never pay too much attention to the measurements listed on the patterns.

*You guys just keep blowing me away with your outfits. :worship:

*I have one or two quick questions... I'm making a t-shirt dress for DD and the t-shirt material is very thin -- so much that it keeps rolling up ... any tips to keep it unrolled to make pinning to skirt easier?

*I second the question about C & C thread. Mine did the same thing -- it kept breaking every time I tried to pull the ruffle. I eventually switched to the dental floss (mint flavored - that's all we had).

*Will I be able to make an applique out of a furry fabric (it's not chenille but feels like it - but it has a tendency to roll like a t-shirt) -- sorry = newbie here -- I have no idea what the name of this type of fabric is -- hopefully-- someone will be able to figure it out. I was planning on trying a Mickey head with it.

* When will I be able to learn how much fabric to buy? I've made 2 Harry Potter-type cloaks, 2 blankets, the Nemo outfit and I'm working on a cow t-shirt dress. I have SOOOOOOO much fabric left over?

*FYI: The new issue of Family Fun has some cute little pocketbook designs -- they are no sew -- DD feel in love with the furry pocketbook- so I guess we will have to try this out. I may attempt sewing to make it stronger.

TIA
