I missed it too! popcorn::

ETA- sorry- I posted my popcorn before I read the alleged "drama"

I'm THAT bored.

I think I'll applique something to see what all the hub-bub is about....

Stay tuned for a Flippy-Fit!

there's no "BIG ORDEAL" going on girls.
sorry you got the popcorn out.

I was just saying I didn't mean what I said LIKE someone MIGHT have mis-understood it.
And I apologized for the misunderstanding, IF there was one.
No harm, no foul.

No big deal. I think everyone took your post in the spirit that it was intended. ;) I do graze the posts sometimes (so hard to read every single one and still work)...so I thought maybe there was an issue. Sometimes if you don't phase something all gooey and sweet, some person will take issue with it on these boards :sad2: so I thought maybe that was the case here and I missed it. You do great work...I am truly jealous of your talents! ::yes::

I'll go back and read the pages I missed tomorrow - but tonight I have a question -- I started on this dress yesterday around 10am (started taking the old dress apart) - I worked through lunch - all afternoon - DH made me stop to eat dinner and I worked on it until 11:30 last night. Got up this morning and started on it again - got it done around 6:30 tonight with just a short break taken for lunch. And, I'm in way over my head.

To start from the beginning: I had a dress that I just LOVED - to death... DH said I HAD to get rid of it because it was getting so threadbare. So, I sat down yesterday and cut it apart - well, used a seam ripper and took all the seams apart. I then used the pieces to make a pattern. (first time every trying this). Biggest problem is that the original dress was gauze. So, needless to say it stretched out horribly. (couldn't find any plus size sundress patterns that had godet insets in the skirt or I'd have just gone from there! ---- godet - "A triangular piece of fabric usually set into the hem of a garment to add fullness.")

I got the dress to where I like it/ want it now except for the neckline. It pooches out funny. I have no idea how to remedy this.

Here's a pic of the neckline - and a photoshop image of the dress. It actually has 4 panels in front and 3 in back (center back piece was cut on the fold) and 8 godets (3 each front and back and 2 side). The front was originally cut on a fold too, but I put the seam down the middle trying to remedy the gap in the neckline.

Thanks for any help you can offer!!

Once I get this last kink worked out, I'm going to use this pattern for a couple of dresses for our trip. It's more comfortable than the pink dress I made (and posted) a week or so ago.

Did you stay-stitch the neck? It looks in part to me, like it stretched.

I just wanted to thank everyone for the prayers and best wishes...We aprreciate them all.. Our Pediatrician called (She is on vacation this week and not only gave us her cell phone number but has called us ever day to check in) It looks like we are going for and EEG next week and probably an MRI...

Heather - PT stands for physical therapy...

Castle Creations ~ You mentioned spitting soda out when reading Utah Mama's posts....isnt she the funniest!!! :rotfl2: LY UM!!!! ;)

So I can't really practice sewing without fabric, right????, so I went to JoAnn's today and the Disney Store for more of those appliques. So here's what I purchased (everything was on sale!):

Cute patterns for DD9, DD3, DD2 which I can mix and match:

IMGP3482.jpg

IMGP3478.jpg

Thats a lotta fabric...I got 2 to 3 yards of each!

And back at the Disney Store I purchases some iron on transfers but I do intend to design and make some appliques with above fabric:

IMGP3476.jpg

OK so its not as exciting as seeing the finished product but at least its a start. I first need to finish my trip report and scrapbook of my June trip and then I will be off and sewing! I will keep you loverly ladies and gentlemen (Tom!) posted!!!! :thumbsup2

Do they happen to have anything boyish in the applique transfer things at the Disney Store?

Oh sure Cheerbop, they have Mickey Mouse of course and I think Pirates and maybe Cars? or something else....I can't remember since I was focusing on the girls. They don't cost much ($5) and are very easy to iron on. Remember I did this outfit with them??? I am not sure if they wash well in the long run?

I am sorry is this too many pics? :rolleyes1

Ok here it is.. I found this dress at the thrift store for my dd (11) and thought it would make a great cruise dress. I added the sailor collar and the applique of symbol of the DCL. How does it look? Do you think I should add anything to the front and if so what? It is for an older girl so she doesn't want it too frilly or babyish as she would say. It was hard to explain why I made this dress to her since the cruise is a suprise!

Now I am off to check out all the outfits/posts I missed today while busy sewing.

PrincessLeighsDaddy ~ You did an AMAZING Job! :cool1: DD loves the dress! She wants to know why her Daddy can't do it! :lmao:

2cutekids ~ Nice Work! Love the Cindy!

Heather~ Great job! You are really cooking now!

OT we have had some bizzare things happening with our 15 month old.. She has a 6 month gross motor delay and both the Pediatrician and the Pediatric Neurologist know why... Her PT has been pushing really hard and she has developed some pretty intense fatigue. It is causing her to have an eye roll in and sometimes up... Yesterday we thought she may have had a seizure but the Docs think not.. I just haven't have had a lot of time to create but I am living vicariously through you all! Say a prayer for us !

Aww...I will keep your daughter in our prayers!!!!

Wow very creative! I don't think you need to add anything at all to the dress...I just love it...maybe a cool bracelet or necklace would be neat...one with mickey heads and cruise ships and pinapples and palm trees...colorful trinkets???? Great job!!! :thumbsup2

Thanks for understanding. I used the double layer tutu twirl skirt instructions from youcanmakethis . com.

OMG OMG OMG!!! :yay: First off, thanks LadyRob for posting the website. I have alot of instructions in my shopping cart on that site ready to be purchased! :thumbsup2

Second, I went to Hobby Lobby and spent $40 on fabric! OMG, OMG, OMG, OMG! :yay: As soon as I pull out the camera, I will post the pics. I bought fabric that I am needing design help with.

Anyway, thanks again. I'll post later.

Do they happen to have anything boyish in the applique transfer things at the Disney Store?

I almost bought some of those iron ons and yes they had boyish ones. They had Mickey, Cars and Buzz Lightyear.

I didn't buy them because I didn't have my coupon with me. I was worried because on the back it said they weren't permanant and I didn't know what they meant by that. I was afraid they would come off after one washing.

Have you washed yours yet twob4him? If they are working out well I will go back tomorrow with my coupon! They are really cute.

Okay a few more pictures nad then I will quit hoging the thread! I am just tickled that I finally figured out how to post pictures (after months of lurking!!! and random posts!). Thanks to everyone who has helped me and to everyone I have *borowed* ideas from.

Love these! What a great idea, I might have to try this since my dd has a bunch of jean skirts and I can jazz one up.

AGAIN!!! I missed the drama. Can't you guys at least wait till I'm HERE!!! Crap.

ps. how sad is it that I was looking at the fabric that's sitting in my DD's room waiting to be made into curtains (and other various things) thinking-MMMM..those patterns are great, add some eyelet and they would be an excellent double layer stripwork skirt!

PATHETIC!!!
