Oh ok,I know how it is. I make cakes occasionally and I am so particular when I do it for others. Anyhow, do you mind me asking what patterns you used? I wil try to get my Grandmother to do it. thanks so much

Thanks for understanding. I used the double layer tutu twirl skirt instructions from youcanmakethis . com.

You say "evil" like it's a bad thing :confused3 :confused3

Hi Celery!! "Ms. Stalker"!

Ok, I have only done actual wearable items in high school (My mother used that apron I made for years because she felt sorry for me). So I read the instructions on my "SUPER EASY pattern" carefully and said many clean-cuss words...and "The Purple Ariel Outfit of '07" was born. I Just finished "The TEAL Ariel Jumper '07" and it has a liner and a blind hem!!! :cheer2: I'm so proud! But my model is pissy right now. I have to psych up for a photo session with Her Magesty with about a 44 ouncer of cherry diet pepsi and some kind of chocolate :rolleyes1

MY pathetic jumper is not worthy to grace this thread after the cool Cow one just posted! But I will to prove that even a super-dork beginner like me can create something marginally passible (just don't look at the underside).

Somewhere between the pissy, her magesty, 44 ouncer of cherry diet pepsi, and cool cow, I snorted some ginger ale out my nose. :rotfl: thanks!:lmao:

Here are some photos of my DD in her dress!

It is a halter style, but you can't see it with DD's long tresses!;)

Enjoy!

I can't believe I am saying this, but I am headed out to the fabric store!

There is a sporting goods store right next door, I might have to pop in there when I am done to boost back my testosterone level!

Great things everyone is posting!

Keep up on the good work, and very inspiring ideas!

You dd is beautiful ....Love her hair and the dress of course...yes..you may want to go look at some fishing rods, and fake deer sent to boost that manliness back up...LOL

Ballle 98 - Great work on all your Disney outfits. I also have 2 daughters that I have dressed alike forever but now that one is going into 2nd grade she doesn't want to look like her Kindergarten sister. You did a great job tweaking the designs so they are similar but different.

How did you do the little silvery minnie heads? Are they three crystals glued together?

Since you guys know "everything" and are super helpful:woohoo: . Can someone tell me how to block someone on the DIS boards?:sad2:

I tried my hand at appliqueing last night on some scrap fabric and although I need to practice it went pretty well. I was feeling good.
Then I tried another practice on a t-shirt and well...YUCK!
My stabilizer started to come off, my stitches look messy and my thread keeps breaking.
Any tips for T-shirts.
its a good thing I have lots of scrap fabric...looks like I am going to need it.;)

what do you mean by block? private messages or all a persons messages

The only thing I know of is to got to your private message folder. on the left at the bottom there is a isgnre/buddy list. I think that is what you may want

So, I've been "lurking" about this thread for about a week now. Happened upon it when I did a search for some outfits for our upcoming DW trip. I just have to say I am in complete awe of all of the work I have seen ya'll post! I just started sewing again, but it's been quite a few years since I have had the sewing machine out! You all have such talent! I was able to put some shirts together for my dd and my niece for our trip, but they are not worthy of posting esp. w/the stuff I have seen posted on here. I searched ebay, but my dd is 10 and most of the stuff is for younger girls. Thankfully, I was able to find someone that made Disney stuff up to size 12. What a relief, because DD was veryupset that I couldn't find anyone who made things in her size. Anyway....I had to register before I could post anything...so hopefully I can practice, practice, practice and in a few months post some pics of things I've made.

Welcome to the DIS!
and this highly addictive thread ;)

FYI: This thread began 1-30-07. I joined 2-24-07, for THIS Thread.
I l-o-v-e to sew, applique & help. I am NOT here to SELL.

I made some custom outfits for someone, in a private sale.
I've been sewing for her for 2-2.5 years. :)
She posted several pixs of her children Here.
They were pictured wearing MY creations/outfits AND others'. :)
Many "who made it" questions & PMs, quickly popped up,
She didn't know what to say on my behalf,
To be nice & save time, I posted a simple "I-made-that-for-her",
I added the pixs of the outfits I had made (to not take credit for others').
I was just pointing out the ones I had made: to answer the ?'s.
I meant NOTHING more to it. :)!

I Really Loved Seeing Pixs of them wearing my work! :)
It was my 1st time seeing them! I'm glad they fit & looked nice.
Thanks for all the nice compliments!:)

I am Sorry, IF anyone MISTOOK what I wrote, to mean something else, OR to be "snotty".
I did NOT mean THAT, at all.
It wasn't NOT "code" for anything.

On a more pleasant note :)

Everyone's outfits have been an inspiration to us all!

I know that I was the first male poster on this thread. I bet I am the first male sewer on this thread also.;)

DW used to sew all the time, and I would occasionally help her with threading the machines, and the general maintenance and cleaning of them. Well, I guess I kinda taught myself too in the process.:rolleyes1

DW has developed skin allergies and now finds it hard to sew. She still wanted DD to wear customs at the park and for dinners, so I decided that I would give it a try.

Also, I just have to say that the bookmarks on the first page of this thread were a GREAT help. It answered some questions that I had, and also saved me some bucks on custom bows for DD. DW used to buy them on the popular auction site, but now, we figured out how to do them ourselves!

This was also the first time that I had done any kind of applique work. I practiced on some scraps, until I got the hang of it. I think it turned out o.k.

So.... should I trudge on and try to make some more? DW has about 20 rubbermaid storage containers full of fabic and "stuff". I hate to see it all go to waste! :sad2:

Since I am new here can you direct me to bookmarks you are talking about, I am still in awe that you, Daddy made this. I think I am definitely getting inspired to pull out my sewing machine.

OMG, I can't believe, you daddy, made this. My husband can not even match my kids clothes. Don't take me wrong and I love my husband dearly, he is my best friend. But i just can't get over this.:worship:

SO PRETTY!! I want one for my DD(5)!!

And your DD is so beautiful!!:cutie:

And the bows too!!

I am loving it!! You should be so proud of your self!!

I am so loving this thread, I guess it must be my creative side and my love for chilrend's clothing. When my DD(15) grew up I was so bummed cause I couldn't buy anymore cute little girls clothing, but then God blessed me with another daughter:cloud9: (10 yrs later):)

Thanks Danica. I can imagine how addicting it is.... it looks like ya'll have a good time on here. Look forwar dto being part of the board.

What you don't see on the outfit is the one mistake or should I say "mishap" that happened when I was adding the ruffle on the bottom.
I had my DD on my lap, she was "helping", and I accidentally caught the bottom of the dress into the cutting knives of the serger.
DD actually saw it first as green rick-rac was poring out of the serger! :scared1:
Luckily I caught it in time. (I really didn't want to redo one whole side of applique work that I had worked so hard on!)
I had to "mend" the area with more fabric, reapply the rickrack and all came out well.
I told her that it was our little secret! The first thing she told Mommy when she got home from work, was that I cut a hole in her dress. DW even had a hard time finding the "mend", but it is there.

You did a great job on the dress.

I just had to laugh at your mishap story because I'm not real talented but I've been working on a shirt for DD for a while. It was *just* about finished and my sewing machine decided to eat it when I was trying to applique some stuff on, I ended up with a hole trying to get it unstuck (along with breaking my seam ripper! ). DD was at her grandparents. She came home, I didn't say a word. She spots her shirt and all of a sudden does a "WHAT HAPPENED TO MY SHIRT" -- oh, yes dear, the sewing machine was hungry :rolleyes1 . I didn't even think she would notice too much as it wasn't sitting anywhere obvious but she passed it, happen to see the snag/hole & stopped mid-step :lmao: I have put that one aside to deal with it later as I don't think I can save it but may try some other time.

You deserve credit for your work. You worked hard on those adorable outfits!!

I am grateful to see the beautiful work. I was trying to figure out the length I wanted for a pair of overalls for my DD. They won't look as elaborate as yours but I appreciate you sharing your talents with us.

Thanks for sharing the links for the free crafts.
