wearing her mouse ear clippies. I really need to take a picture against a light background! She wasn't very cooperative today.

Can you please PM me the seller of the clippies??!! I found one seller on eBay, but yours looks a little different - I love the bow. :)

Thanks!

OK, this outfit was the hardest I've done and I am so proud of it! I went to JoAnn's almost every day this week to get it done. Here is a summary of my misadventures:

Trip 1: Bought fabric, ribbon, elastic and thread. Mom gave me the pattern.
Trip 2: Finished the capris and noticed that I needed red thread to sew on the red ribbon on the bottom. Bought red thread.
Trip 3: Sewed the ribbon on and it looks like crap. Went back to JoAnn's to buy Mickey head buttons to glue on the sides. Covered the bad spot and looks cute!
Trip 4: Finished the top and it is way too short! Went back to the JoAnn's to buy more fabric to make another tier. Had to rip out hem and everything.

And I appliquéd! I was scared but it really wasn't that bad. I even used the scraps and made myself an appliquéd t-shirt. I appliquéd the pink fabric onto the green fabric and then ironed the whole thing on the t-shirt. I am not brave enough to appliqué onto knit yet! Megan made a bracelet out of the leftover buttons. I was worried the lime green and pink were too bright together, but my husband said at least we won't lose her at Disney!

You outfit came out beautifully. Well done!! I like your shirt too. I haven't made anything for myself, but it's on the list of things to do...LOL

Very nice job on the top and capris. Your top looks great too. I've made something for everything, even DH, but haven't done mine yet.

For those looking for the mouse ear clippies-they sell them at Disney. I have seen them at the big World of Disney store and at the toy store on the main road at MGM. I think they were like 6.00

Hope this helps someoneprincess:

Okay, I need your help one more time (I promise it won't be the last:cutie: )

I had plans for appliqueing a snow white (ala princess pillow panels) onto a bag I'm making. HOWEVER I got blue and red mickey icon fabric to use as lining thinking it would play up the blu/red in her dress, hairbow and lips...BUT in order to blend snow white into the pillow panels they turned all of her red to PINK. I have never appliqued do all of you experts out there think I could embroider over the ink parts w. red ? or is that too much?
You know how I get when I hit a snag...this is KILLING me!

TIA,
...t.

OK I have been looking daily at these threads for weeks and have lots of ideas to try for our upcoming trip, BUT I DO NOT HAVE A SEWING MACHINE !!!

So...I decided to start with some costumes for MNSSHP...
DD - 7 wants to be Minnie, so DD - 11 agreed to be Mickey, but didn't want to be all "costumed"...

I got a red skort from Walmart and heat and bonded the minnie print over one layer...a little lace on the bottom, some ruffled material heat bonded to a white tank etc...lace on the bottom and back was hand sewn

Mickey was just some ruffled ribbon to the edges...she is happy with that...now just some ears and white gloves they are set and I am ready to try my techniques at some custom tops...stay tuned :)

Wow! I'm impressed. I'm one of the non sewers that keeps reading this thread thinking some day I'll take the plunge. For now, I've just been buying customs. Maybe I'll have to try a no sew creation too!

I am not an appliquing expert, but can you post a picture so we can see what you mean? I think a lot of us are more visual thinkers and it would help.

Wow, how creative! I love the costumes and the girls look adorable!

Sure, I don't know how much this will help. but the snow white I have is like this one on Lady Rob's LOVERLY design.
snowwhite009.jpg

You see, Snow whites Hair bow, lips and sleeve insets are pink instead of red. Doesn't really work w/ the red and blue fabric that I have for this project but I thought I might be able to embroider over those areas w/ red???

Does that help at all???

BTW- :tink: CONGRATULATIONS AMY!!!

I hope things go smoothly and that hubby will be here for delivery. I have a girlfriend who's hubby is deployed and she has an 8yoDS, 6yoDD and 19 mo old twins- She keeps saying that the most frustrating thing is the other wives of men who have been or are deployed saying "I know what you're going through" when clearly they can't- so maybe I could hook you two up-b/c she would KNOW what you're going through!

I am worried about trying for #3- my 30th b-day is in the not to distant future, I'm 20 lbs over weight and it took me 1 year to concieve the last time. But Dh and I had been planning on another. I guess I'd better get to work and hope I lose a few pounds in the process.:rotfl:

Have you considered inking over the pink with a red fabric marker? I'd try it somewhere inconspicuous first to see what it looks like.

Deb

I was going to say the same thing Deb! I think a fabric marker might be less noticable than appliquing it, but you would have to test it first.

Thank you! If it makes you feel better I just turned thirty last month and I'm more than 20 pounds overweight. Probably more like 40, and that's with just losing 13 over the last three months :rolleyes1 So much for getting a good figure back :rotfl2: Of course conceiving is not a problem for us. DH looks my direction and another baby is on the way :lmao:

My brain is so scattered now! I have three sewing projects going and I can't focus on any of them. Hopefully my brain returns some time soon :scared:

Thanks! Do you know if they are actually "clippies" or are they on a headband?

So here's a shirt I made for DD. She's 17 and gave me as much attitude about having to do a picture than my 5 yo does. The wind was blowing and puffed it out more than it already is and she was freaking out about how fat she looked. She'll really be mad if she finds out I posted them! I didn't use any pattern, just some phone calls to Dena and voila! She's already out the door in it for a big friday night on the town. She likes simple stuff like this so everyone who has teens, there is hope as far as getting them into customs. I'm making her and DD5 matching Jacks soon.
That is really cute!! Your daughter is very pretty.
Here are my latest outfits, shoes, shirts, whatever...LOL
Everything looks great! That Cinderella is one of my favorites.

I am going to try and post pictures now. These are for my 2 DD and 1 shirt for my DS. Thanks for all the inspiration from you all, most I have copied from someone on here.
CUTE!
Gracie's Jojo outfit made by Designed by Dena. We love it!
I love it too! Just perfect!
:yay: :yay: This was my first attempt at sewing!!! Not Disney, but not too bad!! I have to put buttons on and maybe add a ruffle - DD wanted to wear it to our Model-T club brunch this morning. I started and finished it all last night!!! :cool1:
It doesn't look like your first attempt. Great job!

I love lime green and I think it's looks great. I LOVE your appliqued t-shirt. The green outline really makes the pink fabric pop.

I had this problem when I was using cheap thread. Once I switched to better thread it hasn't happened again. Hope this helps.
