That doesn't help as I always get here by my user cp and that option is not in the cp...;) Oh well, just keeps me on my toes...:thumbsup2

When I go to my user CP, I have the option of just clicking on the name of the thread, and not the link that says, "last page". If you click on the name of the post, you will have the option of clicking on "View First Unread" :thumbsup2

HELP!!!! Can someone point me to the directions for a triangular halter top? Do I need to make it like a pillowcase dress or is there a better way? I had an epiphany on an outfit !!!

Thanks

Jen

I have some halter directions on the bookmark site. I think there is one for a bandana type top, you could modify that for regular fabric. (link in siggy)

OT - but still a sewing question...

Anyone know where I can get free patterns for doll clothes? Someone just gave DS a boy Cabbage Patch Kid, but he's nekkid!!!

He was really stinky (was from a smoking home...yuck) so I threw him in a pillowcase and washed him. So, he's much better to be around now. LOL But we need something for him to wear ASAP!!

The searches I did only yielded barbie/action figure patterns - and, obviously, those won't fit a CP Kid.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I'll even make him a Disney outfit, IF I can find a pattern for pants and a top!
I may have some, I will look into it!

Edited to Add: I just had a thought. I have some premie pajama patterns on the site, those would probably fit a Cabbage Patch Kid.

I did a little too much fabric shopping this last week (especially since I have grad school finals next week that I should be focusing on) but I found a couple of great deals that I am just so excited about...

Yesterday I was near a Hobby Lobby I don't usually go to, stopped in and found the princess purple toile fabric for $2.00 a yard. Then this morning I went to a different Wal-Mart than usual and found the Winnie the Pooh blue toile for $2.00 a yard.

Now I just need the time to finish all of my existing projects and start the new ones...

Now, why did you have to go and tell me that??? I may have to run to all the Hobby Lobby's around looking for that!

I APPLIQUED!! :cheer2: :sulley:

It's not great, but I'm going to post a picture anyway. This is the first time I've tried to applique. I was pretty pleased that it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I think it looked better before I tried to go around Nemo. Black thread would have looked better, too. But, it was a learning experience. The model is my incredibly sweet 1 year old son, Sawyer.

Sawyersshirt.jpg

OHHH!!! He looks too old!!!! Stop it with letting him get bigger! You sure did a good job on your first applique! And, Sawyer looks ADORABLE!!!! (That's my baby nephew! I cut the cord when he was born!)

I know you can get doll clothes patterns for 18 inch dolls (think American Girl). But I don't know where.

I have some bookmarked, I will try to find them and add them to the bookmark site.

I guess Al Pacino doesn't have much to do with it. :rotfl2: He does this thing in "Meet the Fockers" where he points to his eyes with his first and middle finger, then points with his pointer finger at someone. It was decided this was the official Diser greeting. I just love this place! :grouphug: In honor of your question, I have updated my signature! Behold- the lime green Mickey head family.

My sister is a dork, but I love her.

And, I must admit, I almost died laughing to see the lime green Mickey ears on everyone's head! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

The guy is actually Robert DeNiro :goodvibes I gave the "finger point" a LOT during my last trip :cloud9:
The tag fairy is someone that puts different color sayings under your DIS name. cute quotes, or something funny you may have said.:goodvibes

Robert DeNiro, Al Pacino, what's the difference? :rolleyes1

A-ha! The mystery of the tag fairy is revealed! Thank you!

Boy the boards are kind of quiet tonight...I was just posting on the DCL and there were crickets chirping...LOL
I've been working on my orders...and I managed to make another Sea World top for my dd (4) and I'm making a little mermaid halter and twirl skirt. I may try something new with the skirt, I'm not sure what....
See you all in the morning...LOL...I hope everyone had a good weekend...
I had the pleasure of making room for one more in my house. My brother is here to stay, while he works out his marital problems..:sad2: I hope they can work things out...

I can NEVER remember which one is which! I gave the official greeting several times on our last trip, mostly met with blank stares, shielding of young children, and a hurrying of pace! I was not deterred though, and actually met a few DISers!

Me too! About the Ariel outfit! We LOVE Ariel around here! AHAHAHAAAAA AAAAA AAAA (That's Tessa singing the Little Mermaid song, she loves to do that!)

Hi everyone! I have two (well nearly two) outfits to share. I've even redone the top that I accidently botched with that stupid snap tool last week (BTW DON't buy one of those tools) Can anybody fill me in on how to post a picture on this thread? I'm afraid I'll have to go open a photobucket account and figure that out first before I can post pictures here. That may take a while, I'm NOT all that computer saavy :confused3.

Anyway. I've been practicing, practicing, practicing applique for my next project. I borrowed my mom's vintage Bernina machine for applique becuase I don't have a stitch width adjuster on my machine. It does a beautiful work on applique. I shouldn't have borrowed it though, she may never get it back:rotfl2: . Anyway, I think I've got it down--even those pesky ears with the sharp corners. I've done so many pracitice appliques that I think I could do an "evolution of the mickey ears applique" quilt if I wanted to. :rotfl: I should've used better colors for practice!

Yep, first you go to Photobucket and open an account. After you sign in and go to your album, on the top right side, you will see some boxes with a browse button next to it. Click on browse, a box will pop up, and you click on the picture (from your computer) that you want to upload. Keep doing this until you have all the ones you want. Then, click on "upload" now you wait, when the pictures are uploaded to Photobucket, there will be a message at the top of the page that tells you that the upload was successful. You will also be able to see the pictures. Now, click on the picture you want to put on the DISboards, (or click "Edit" above the picture)click "resize" (above your picture after it opens in edit mode) there is a resize option that says "message boards" click that. Now, if you go over to the right, there are some links for your picture. Click on the link that says "IMG Code" click that, a little box should pop up that says "copied". (You can also copy the IMG Code by clicking on the IMG Code link right under your picture in your photo album). Now, come to the DISboards and start a new post, and hit CTR+V (or right click and hit paste) If there are more pictures you want in your thread, just hit IMG Code again, paste it into your message, and so on until you have all the pictures in your thread.

Hope that helps!

Thanks so much! I'll try this tomorrow! Good night!

I am kind of a wait and see mode here- and I mean literally, I "see" tons of outfits I love- but I am "waiting" for a sewing machine so I can make them! Good thing my bday is coming up! Our next trip isnt until 2009- so I guess I have the time! Thanks for posting all teh super cute and amazing outfits!

Ok, either my posts keep getting lost, no one wants to share their tips for fear that I might outdo them on ebay... hang on... :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: ... Ok, I'm back... or everyone is underestimating their talent and thinks they can't help me with my overalls. So, here's my questions for the last time:

1 - When covering the bibs on overalls, what is the best way to deal with buttonholes? Make them on the custom, or put the custom below them?

2 - What's the best way to do ruffles on pant legs? Should I sew them upsidedown on the outside of legs and let them flip over and down? OR, should I just sew them on the inside? I'm afraid if I sew them on the inside they will be too long.

Even if you've never made custom overalls, and you have an opinion on how to deal with these issues would you please tell me. DD is anxiously waiting to see her Donald Duck overalls and they've been sitting on my desk since Tuesday just taunting her!!!

I don't know how to do bib on the overalls.

I do know that when I put ruffles on things I sew them on upside down (right sides together) Then you let it flip over as you put it. When I make a night gown or pajamas I then stitch again on the edge of the nightgown or pantlegs to keep it down. It also gives it a little more strength.

I haven't made the custom overalls though.

It was me!! My FIL is one of the deans for the University of Florida! I thought they would get a kick out of that outfit

I'm sorry it took so long to answer. We've been busy and the storms here knocked out our cable (and my modem) for a bit. I'm in the process of making a twirl skirt out of the orange and royal blue, too, so yes, feel free to pass it along.

Truth is.... I'm not a Gator. I'm an LSU Tiger, but I live in Gator country now; so the orange and blue are plentiful. I'm going to list them, so we'll see how it goes.
