Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 2

I guess not all Joanns are created equal. I made the trip the one that was listed as being the closest to me (didn't even know they were near me)...but I was terribly disappointed with their selection. I was so excited, then so deflated. Guess I have to keep looking around for some good places nearby for the kids fabrics. I'm jealous of you all that have such great places in your area. I love that Mickey swirl fabric. I bought some about 2 or 3 weeks ago online (Ebay) but the background is yellow. One day instead of shopping for my fabric stockpile, I'll actually get to some of this sewing that I'm meaning to do.

The Joannes, and walmart, sell the disney so fast, that they are gone in just a few days. you really need to be there when it gets in or you can forget it.

We finally convinced my mom to start doing some eBay selling on her creations, so here's the dresses that she just sent the girls that will be her first design. What do you guys think???

Oooooh! This is gorgeous! I love it! The fabric combos are awesome! :woohoo:

I have been away for awhile, but wanted to check in. We went to the Magic Kingdom for a few hours today and I saw a few boutique outfits!!!!! Atleast one I saw was on here (white tee with riboon and mickey ears).princess:

Yikes!!! You miss a couple of days and now I can't find my last post, so I have no idea where to start looking.

When I was looking real quick, I did see that someone asked if they could forward the pics of my Gators outfit to their in-laws. (At least I think it was in-laws.) Kids were screaming, and I couldn't respond at the time and now I can't find the post and who was asking. Anyway, yes, feel free to forward the pics.

Everything I've seen looks great ya'll. I don't know if I'll ever catch up again on this thread and I may just have to start from here. Welcome to all how have since joined us. Be careful though. It is addicting.

The name of this fabric is by Alexander Henry "Smiles around the world"

I have seen it on Ebay. I have not had any luck around here though.

Hope this helps!

Thanks so much for the info! I searched online and found it. Not sure what I will do with it yet, but I'll add it to my collection until I'm inspired. :thanks:

Rather, GUESS WHAT I JUST MADE?!?!?!?!?

I SEWED SHORTS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
And it only took me 5 hours!!! :lmao:

This is the first thing I have ever sewn to wear. DD is wearing them now!! They are okay, I will certainly let her out of the house in them!!

OMG!!! After all the problems I had on Friday, I was half way tempted to toss the sewing machine out the window and return all of my fabric!!!!

I did have to use my seam ripper twice...;)

Thanks ladies for your encouragement and telling me not to give up! Sometimes that's all we need.

I still need more practice before I start using my good Disney fabric! I'd like to be able to sew something without using the seam ripper!!

I guess it's a good thing that I am starting this early for our December trip!!
Good for you! I guess there is hope for us yet.:thumbsup2

Hi...Thanks for the kind words. I am feeling better. Just a little sore still.
Which outfit did I make for you? I'm a little short brained right now...LOL

The Safari outfit. DD is not girly so when I showed her the outfit you posted and she flipped for it, it was like a dream come true for me! My DD just was never the princessy type (sometimes I wonder if she was swapped out at the hospital...I was always into the princesses). Anyhoo, now that she's hit those teen years (and discovering boys in THAT way)...she is coming around to her frilly and flirty side. :rotfl:

I did a little too much fabric shopping this last week (especially since I have grad school finals next week that I should be focusing on) but I found a couple of great deals that I am just so excited about...

Yesterday I was near a Hobby Lobby I don't usually go to, stopped in and found the princess purple toile fabric for $2.00 a yard. Then this morning I went to a different Wal-Mart than usual and found the Winnie the Pooh blue toile for $2.00 a yard.

Now I just need the time to finish all of my existing projects and start the new ones...

Do you live in Flordia? Did you ask if they were on the DISboards?? Did you see any green mickey heads? :goodvibes

Ok all you talented ladies, I need idea help. I have custom overalls---princess themed for when we do DTD and the BBB for DD4. She will be changing into a Cinderella dress for 1900 Park Fare that night. I needto come up with some type of otfit for DS1. I want them to match every day. I was thinking a shirt saying I'm your Price Chrming or something like that but I want it to be boutique"y" so I need some ideas. HELP!

It was me!! My FIL is one of the deans for the University of Florida! I thought they would get a kick out of that outfit

Can anyone venture a guess as to what sewing tool this is and what it's used for?

It looks like a mini-rotary cutter, except it has somewhat sharp points instead of a smooth "blade". It doesn't look like the blade can be changed. The blade is about 1/2".

I'm sure it's at least 30 years old, and has a red handle and the brand is Heart.

TIA!
Lisa

I APPLIQUED!! :cheer2: :sulley:

It's not great, but I'm going to post a picture anyway. This is the first time I've tried to applique. I was pretty pleased that it wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I think it looked better before I tried to go around Nemo. Black thread would have looked better, too. But, it was a learning experience. The model is my incredibly sweet 1 year old son, Sawyer.

Good Job!!!

He's incredibly cute, too!!

I did not see any Green mickey heads (What is the green head thing?):confused3

The tee shirt family was walking the other way so I did not get a chance to ask if they were Disboarders.

Yes we live near the Mouse house

You did a Wonderful job!! Way to go!! Your son is a cutie too!

Hi Lisa,

The sewing tool that you're talking about sounds like a tracing wheel. It was used mostly for tracing darts. To use it, you would place a special tracing paper between the wrong sides of the fabric, and trace along the lines that you needed.

AHA!!! I knew that b&w fabric looked familiar- It was a bed sheet wasn't it? Or it's the same as a disney bedding set... I'm all for repurposing sheets. I think that was clever.
...t.

OT - but still a sewing question...

Anyone know where I can get free patterns for doll clothes? Someone just gave DS a boy Cabbage Patch Kid, but he's nekkid!!!

He was really stinky (was from a smoking home...yuck) so I threw him in a pillowcase and washed him. So, he's much better to be around now. LOL But we need something for him to wear ASAP!!

The searches I did only yielded barbie/action figure patterns - and, obviously, those won't fit a CP Kid.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

I'll even make him a Disney outfit, IF I can find a pattern for pants and a top!

I know you can get doll clothes patterns for 18 inch dolls (think American Girl). But I don't know where.
