Does the Oceaneers club provide snacks? My kids get kinda hangry if they don't have a morning snack and an afternoon snack. I know the counselors won't really encourage the kids to eat, but can they ask for something? Or should we fill them up before we send them in?

I haven't heard of snacks being offered ... just mealtimes. So you'd probably either have to fill them up, or head down there an hour or so after you drop off and see if they want to join you. My kids were 50/50, sometimes we would say do you want to come grab an ice cream etc and they'd be all for it but other times they really wanted to stay in the clubs a bit longer.

I’ve never seen them offer snacks in the clubs unless there was a cooking activity. There have been snacks (mostly crackers) in the nursery though.

I would plan to check on them and take them for a snack. My kids are the same.

I think we’ll just have to load them up before they go. My kids will be 3 and 6 and they’re pretty attached. I know if we stop by and offer them to go get a snack and come back they’ll just want to hang out with us. But mommy wants some spa time and some Palo brunch :-D.

You might want to consider the small world nursery for the 3 year old. It is a slight extra charge, but they get so much more one-on-one attention there that I think a little who is very attached to mom would do much better there, since the nursery staff will do their best to cheer up and distract a kid who is asking for mom, whereas the oceaneers club just message you on your wave phone to come get them ASAP. Had to interrupt my spa trip and bingo game on my first cruise because of oceaneers club calls for my older children... and it turned out that while the kids asked for me at one point, they were fine by the time I got there and didn't even want to leave, grrr....

If you tell the oceaneer staff at drop off that you have a spa treatment (or Palo reservation, etc.), they will make a note and did their best to distract your kids so you're not disturbed.

I did tell them; didn't seem to make any difference.

Bummer! I've had good luck with it on 2 different cruises! They even told me when I picked up how my dd asked to be picked up and they distracted her.

They try their best. They are in a difficult position. Imagine a parent coming to pick up their child and being told Mom I asked them 10 times to call you and they didn’t do it.

It probably just depends how busy they are. We were on the dream in summer, so it was understandably packed in the club!

LOL so I actually expect my 3 year old to be more cool with the clubs than the 6 year old. I'm expecting DS6 to be willing to go as long as DD3 is there to play with too. They're very close. Anf I don't think either of them will ask for us - they're used to daycare, where they can't ask to be picked up. I'm guessing they'll be sad when we drop them off and then fine 5 minutes later. But if we come back to get them eat I think it'll be harder to extract ourselves. I think it'll be easier to feed them right before they go, and limit it to 2-3 hours unless we decide to leave them there for a meal like lunch or dinner.

Did your texts actually say come ASAP? I remember ours always said “kids name would like to be picked up” and the one time there was an actual urgent issue it said “please contact Oceaneers for urgent message related to kids name”.

If we were at dinner or the spa we didn’t stop to rush to pick him up if it was the normal message but we’re also mean parents
