Kids Club question

When we sail in August my grandson's will be 9 and 10, and from looking at a copy of the kids Navigator it looks like they will be in separate groups ... this is NOT a good thing as the boys are going to want to be doing things together.

And if they can't be together in the kids clubs, they're going to want to be with ME ... not a bad thing, but after spending 5 days with them in WDW before the cruise I'll need some down time and would like to be able to sit and read or do some adult activities.

Has anyone been able to bump a kid up or down?

BTW my oldest grandson is smaller than his younger cousin and would probably "fit" better in the younger group.

Thanks!

DCL usually has no problem at all bumping a child down. It is sometimes a challenge to move a child up. Your 10yo should be able to move down to the 8-9 group.

Bumping down rarely presents a problem especially considering the closeness in age as well as the childs size. Bumping up can be done but is closely watched to determine if it is working out and can be ceased if it is not working (parents agree to this before placement - We had a 4 yr old relative bumped up to the 5 yr group with my DS5 at the time and it worked out fine). Hope this helps. - Mike

That's great, I'll plan on bumping Christian down ... the boys are really looking forward to spending time together on our vacation.

They spent lots of time together until last Spring when Christian and his Mom moved 5+ hours away ... now they only see each other once a month at the most :(

I was just going to ask the same question. My oldest will have turned 8 two weeks before we sail. So it should be no problem for him to be in with his 5 yr old brother and sister? Thanks for all the great info.

Mike

Thats great so will my just turned 13 before the cruise be able to go in the clubs, i don't really want him in the teen club as the boards have mentioned they're not very structured, lot of older teens just hanging out etc , i know he'd love to do the stuff in the 10 - 12 group, what are my chances ?? and who do we approach to get him in.

Bumping down is almost always a given. We bumped my DD down on both of our cruises. First cruise, she turned 10 in March and we went in May. 2nd cruise, was in January of the following year (she was almost 11), but had no problems keeping her in the 8-9 group. I just said that she does much better with younger children, and they said fine. She's relatively small for her age. I think as long as you don't ask to move 2 age groups, or have a really big child who bullies, you will probably be able to do this.
