Does anybody know if hey Kids Club staff are easy to deal with if a younger child wants to be with his older sister....My son is 6 and my daughter is 9....I guess my daughter is going to be in the 8-10 year old group and i'm sure that my son will want to be withy her....Anybody have any idea's???

The staff will strongly discourage it, and will ask you to try the children in their age appropriate groups before deciding whether or not to move your daughter down to the younger group.

The rule for moving up is that the child must be within 30 days of the birthday that would allow them into the next older group AND have permission of the counsellors and parent. Moving down is much more flexible. However, any move is a "one time only" deal--you can't move up and down at will. That's why they suggest staying in the appropriate group and making a move only if that isn't working.

So...the answer is that the staff is NOT easy about allowing a younger child into an older group. In fact, they are very strict about this. There's basically no way that they're going to allow a 6 year old into an 8-10 group. They will, upon request, allow a 9 year old into the 6-7 group. My suspicion is that the kids will love their own groups as long as they have plenty of time together too. We would read the navigator each day and decide what times they wanted to be in the club/lab....the other times would be swim time, etc.

Not to post to you directly Sgt. Jeff, but I believe on page 2 there is another thread very similar to this.

I wonder why it is always a big deal to have children where they are supposed to be. Our daughter will turn 8 the day after we disembark on our cruise. Naturally I suspect she will be allowed in the 8-9 Lab club. HOWEVER, if Disney would tell me that she would be with the 5-7 year olds in the the younger crowd, then so be it, she is 7, not 8 not 6 not 13, but 7.

If the child thinks that the program is too babyish, then tell them they don't have to attend....

Makes me wonder how many parents would argue with the schools to put their child up one grade, because socially they are too mature for the one they are supposed to be in.....

Just my 2¢

I'm one of those parents who would argue with the school :)

But my main reason for wanting my dd7 to move up is because her traveling companion is turning 8 the day before our cruise. I think they will want to be together in lab, but I'm preparing myself and her for either way so as not to ruin our vacation.

It is much easier (and probably much more appropriate) to move a just turned eight year old down to the 5-7 group than move a 7 1/2 year old up to the lab (where there are 12 year olds and a lot of the kids have check in check out privledges). The 5-7s spent ALOT of time in the lab anyway. If its that important for them to be together, move the older down. (But I, like most people here, would encourage you to try them in their own age groups first).
