Hi all, new cruisers here. DD is 4 yrs old and me and DH were looking forward to some alone time. We are going on the DVC Cruise in February. I'm wondering if the kids clubs are still running even during docking days? We will have one day in Nassua and 2 days at Castaway Cay. Any thoughts from past cruisers? thanks, kim

The kids programs do go on when in port at Nassau. We left DD in the lab (she was 9) and walked around Nassau. On Castaway Cay Days, the kids programs move to the island; they're still open just on the island.

My apologies, but this is sort of a hot topic. I've seen numerous posts about folks asking about leaving their kids in the clubs while going on shore. I don't believe in doing so. IMHO our kids have been exposed to things that 99% of other kids have never seen and they appreciate it; we are fortunate. It's a family vacation, we do things as a family. If my wife and I want some time alone, we go out to dinner, here, at home in our own country. Yes, the kids clubs are open and it is allowed, but at what distance to the pagers not work? What if something would happen to your child while you're on shore? What if something would happen to you/spouse on shore, and you're child is on the ship? Most times, you're in a foreign country. Lose your KTTY card, picture ID, passport? Good luck getting back on.

My 2 cents.

Doogie, not that I owe you any explanation BUT I'm not suggesting that we would leave our daughter alone the WHOLE cruise, I'm asking to be able to go get a drink w/ DH or swim in the adult beach etc. She is 4 yrs old and finally spent the night at her grandparents house just last week for the first time! We bought into DVC for numerous vacations WITH our daughter. the activies planned for her age on the regular cruises look spectacular. And I know she would love alot of them. I'm sure she would much prefer to be w/ other childrens at times during the day then w/ her parents who entertain her CONSTANTLY at home. I wasn't asking for an opinion on leaving my child OR NOT I was asking about the activities on board.

Many people love cruising on Disney because of the superb programming they offer for the children. I would not hesitate to take advantage of anything that would make the cruise enjoyable for the whole family.
