What are your kids using to carry their IPhones around the ship? DD is 11 and we are hoping we can stay in touch with her on the IPhone. She won't have pockets to put it in or if she does, they will be too small. I thought about a small cross body pouch or attaching it to a lanyard somehow, but do your kids find that something around the neck gets in the way?

My DD was 11 the first time we cruised and has always used a crossbody bag to carry hers. In addition to the ipod touch (or now iphone), she carries her autograph book with her in case she decides to go to a character meet.

It’s so much easier with girls. My teenage son insists on carrying it in his pocket, even though I’ve got him a clear waterproof pouch on a lanyard. BUT I guess that’s not cool. Mr. Cool knows if he breaks or loses it, he has to pay for the replacement, so it’s on him.

DH found on Amazon a band that you wear on your ankle or arm that holds a phone....that may be an option for a boy. DD rejected them.

DS carried his in his pocket, DD in a small purse. I should say they were OLD OLD OLD iPhones that only had the Disney app loaded on to them so we weren't going to be heartbroken if they were lost. DS lost his once in the lab, kids club staff turned it into guest services and we got it back as soon as he realized it was missing. Both my kiddos are 10.5 and it was awesome to keep in touch with them on the cruise.

Another option is a drawstring backpack. That way if she doesn't want to wear her lanyard she can put her lanyard in the backpack. Additionally, if she is doing an event with Edge (since she's 11) and she wants to carry her swimsuit or items for a scavenger hunt she can.

This is our problem too, phone lanyards are not cool! Both of my boys (9 & 11) carried their phone/ipod in their pockets and luckily never lost them.

My girls have used the waterproof Dry Pak pouch at the beach and it works really well. You can even use your phone when it's in the pouch. Great for poolside and Castaway Cay. My kids didn't complain about it getting in the way...and my brother surfs with his phone in the pouch inside his wetsuit.

My DDs have also used a variety of other small crossbody bags and wristlets--they really liked the Coach wristlets that you can get deals on if you're near to a Coach outlet.

We don't let our boys carry them for a lot of activities. Clubs, sports deck, pool, etc, no phone. If they are going to the movies or just doing midship detective, than they carry it (in hand) for messaging purposes. The cost of replacing a broken or lost iPhone is not worth it. Really they only use it for messaging, so we can get around it the old way. Meet here at this time.

Mine carries hers in a little running pouch I made. If you're crafty search for DIY running belt. DD was excited to choose her own fabric. Otherwise, you can find these for sale on Amazon. Spybelt is a good one.
