Hi

I want to get my DD2 1/2 a kids camera for Christmas. Trying to decide what would be the best one.

I found some from V-Tech, Fisher Price and couple others. Anybody have any recommendations or suggestions.

Thanks

The image quality on those "kid" cameras is horrible. I would suggest buying the cheapest "regular" camera that you can find. Won't be too expensive, and you can actually take some pictures that way.

For a 2 1/2 yr old the camera will be really more about play than about picture quality, so I recommend the Vtech. It's very kid friendly. Both of my kids started with that camera (actually, son started with a Polaroid kids camera which was a complete piece of junk!). My DD8 still uses hers. DS10 upgraded to a "real" digital camera last year.

I misread that at first and thought it said DD 12 1/2. I was thinking oh my, that girl will be humilitated when she opens a kid camera like those listed!!! LOL I was wondering what are these posters thinking?!?! Get a 12 1/2 year old a real camera, please!!! I'm sitting here laughing at myself, glad everyone else is at lunch!!:rotfl2:

ITA! Got th FP one for my daughter years back. The picture was so bad that you could barely make out what the picture was of.

In that case, why even get something that actually takes pictures? It just seems like a lot of effort to download bad pictures to your computer, especially if the kid can't even make out what it is a picture of.

I agree 100%. And with the Vtech recommendation. The Vtech takes decent pics for a kids camera, also has video and games built in the camera. My grandkids were very proud of their pics and videos no matter how they turned out.

We rarely downloaded our kids' pics to tell you the truth. A 2 yr old isn't going to care about having the pics downloaded and/or printed, she's going to care that she took a picture or video and can see it on her camera. The pics can even be incorporated into some of the games. My kids would take pictures, keep them for a while and then delete when they didn't care about them anymore. The camera is certainly not going to take the place of your own camera, but she'll have a great time being a photographer!

I'd go with the V-Tech. My niece got one a few years ago and she still uses it at 5.5yrs. Her older sister borrows it to take photos also.

The games on the camera also keep her entertained.

I don't believe my sister or bil have had any of the photos developed that were taken but my niece still enjoys taking photos.

My in-laws got my DD a camera for her 3rd birthday for her big trip to Sea World and Disneyland. They got the Crayola one that can be found in the camera section at Target. It's GREAT and we love it! My nieces had the FisherPrice one and weren't big fans of it.
