Kids breakfast at Steakhouse 55?

Have you ever taken young children to breakfast at Steakhouse 55?

We’re thinking about having breakfast at Steakhouse 55 on a non-park day. My kids do visit restaurants pretty regularly so they don’t behave terribly but I would hate to have a 4 and 1 year old in a restaurant that’s inappropriate for them to be in.

Thoughts?

I take my grandkids to Steakhouse for both breakfast and dinner. (They are now 3 and 7, the 7yo has been going since she was 2.) It is not inappropriate for well behaved children. I have been there when there have been kids up and running around the restaurant, acting like it was a playground, and I think everyone would have been happier if they were at Goofy's instead.

We have never been for dinner, but took our 8 year old and 2 year old (16 months) for breakfast.

My kids are used to restaurants. (We frequent Catal) And we are usually prepared (with our own activity books/toys.) however our 2 year old is a tad restless. She doesn’t leave the table. She just switches from my lap to her seat. She’s not misbehaving but excessively moving so much that it can be distracting. They aren’t loud kids. It helped that our table was in a corner.

Servers were friendly and accommodating. Noise level was fine. Not too quiet. I think breakfast has a more relax vibe and many guests are on their way to the park.

The food was great.

Edited to add: I would take them again. And I would have taken them when they were 1 and 4. Honestly, 1 year olds are easy. They have mickey shaped waffles and mickey shaped watermelon (!) slices that made my kids happy.

I've had my kids there twice for breakfast I think. They were as young as three at the time. Zero issues.

Here's an excerpt from my February 2015 Trip Report. Victoria would have been 2.5, Charlotte would have been almost 6, and Katherine was 8.5:

We arrived at our destination, and Joe inquired with the hostess. While we were waiting, the kids were playing and getting to know each other. Katherine was particularly smitten with Ian. Charlotte just wanted to lay on every chaise/chair around. We were called up by the hostess a few minutes later and taken to our table. Joe and Theresa both got some up close and personal time with our children as Katherine scooted down next to Theresa and Victoria got the chair next to Joe. We placed our orders, I the New York Steak and Eggs, Amy got the Huevos Rancheros, and we grabbed a few of the Kids' Junior Scrambles with REAL bacon instead of the Turkey bacon provided. Theresa ordered a Sunrise Burrito and Joe opted for the Two Times Four. In hind sight, we should have ordered the Two Times Four for the girls and just had them split it.

While waiting for the food to arrive, we chatted, and Katherine challenged Theresa to a few games of tic-tac-toe. Be warned... she's a reigning champion. Victoria amused herself by stacking, restacking, and restacking the jelly containers. When the food arrived everybody dug in. Katherine quickly obliterated what was placed in front of her. It was right about this point where she saw Joe's pancakes and lamented not having any. Charlotte chimed in with pancake envy as well, and Joe being the kind person he was had no choice but to relent and share some with the two of them. Many thanks for that, you are a generous individual. Katherine then spotted his sausage and started negotiating for some of it as well. That kid is going to have to go into sales or something in her future.

It is our go to for the final day of our frequent DLR trips. To cement it into our plans..We are a gluten free family and our son (10) discovered GF french toast at SH55 the last trip. It's so peaceful and a great way to end our trips. If we stay at the DLH we often do breakfast there twice. It's never been that crowded even during dapper days. It is one of our hidden gems and highest recommendation to those who ask for advice. We see kids of every age there with no problems.

We will be there again on Labor Day!

Mike

I just have to say the Pork Belly Chilaquiles are amazing. Also, it's not readily apparently on the menu but you can get mimosas/bloody mary as well.
