Just wondering if well-behaved kids are welcomed there. We have 10 and 12 yr. olds who may enjoy the fine dining experience. Thanks, Sue

Sue,
There was just a VERY VIGOROUS debate about this. I'll see if I can find the thread.

Here it is, right in the Restaurants forum: V&A and children
Put on your flame retardent suit - this got very personal for some folks.

One side: This is an expensive place with long (2+ hour) meals primarily focused on adults. Children won't enjoy it, and their fidgeting/roaming/crying will ruin it for me.

Other side: Disney does not prohibit children, so I can bring mine. Some (my) children have been exposed to cultured dining before and will behave better than some adults.

Have fun and good luck,
Erick

OH no again is right!! Anyway, Disney will not stop you from bringing your children into V&A's, but they won't make any special accomdations either. There is no children's menu, so if you want to spend $90+ for each of your children to eat dinner, enjoy!!

I'll really try not to be mean but let me share my experience. We had just left our two boys, age 3 and age 5 months for dinner at V&A, our first night out since the little one was born. We walk into the beautiful restaurant for our "adult" evening to be greeted by a table of about 12 with three children who would not sit still and who were very loud as were the parents who were trying to be them to sit still and be quiet. Our evening wasn't ruined but it wasn't what I wanted or needed. There are many other "fine" dining experiences in WDW that I think your children would like better such as the California Grill, Citricos, even Shulas.

We dined at V & A's in Nov. 2000 and there were two boys there about that age with their grandparents. They were well dressed and well behaved. We didn't even know they were there until they came by our table and requested a song from the harpist. They were adorable and not unwelcome at all!

If your children enjoy going out, are adventurous eaters and are prepared for the experience - I think that they will enjoy it.

If they were half there ages - or younger - I'd suggest that they might have a more enjoyable experience elsewhere...

Even a character meal can be made to be unenjoyable by a group of unruly guests, regardless of their ages!

Long gone are the days of children being seen and not heard, and I'm not an advocate of going back to that. However, I do wish that common sense and good manners would make a comeback!

(for the record - at age 11 I would have loved V & A's, but I would not take my now 11 year old niece...she's way too picky of an eater yet to enjoy it even if she'd be polite and well behaved during the experience)

10 and 12? Sure, why not? Just keep in mind that it's a LONG meal, and make sure they are aware of this and ready for it...it would be an expensive mistake otherwise.

Other points to ponder...no kids menu, and no half price for kids--regardless of age, you pay the full price. Also the food is very gourmet, and the menu is limited and changes daily, so you can't really plan ahead. IF theya ren't really adventurous you might want to think twice about it.

If you decide it's not a good option at this point, there is childcare at the Polynesian that they would enjoy. The childcare at teh GF is really geared towards the younger crowd. We left DS there while we dined at V&A's (he was 10 at the time) and he was very bored.

I suggest calling V&A directly if anyone is concerned about the menu and children. I seem to remember in the past that someone was able to get a childs meal from one of the other GF restaurants (Citricos?)
please unless anyone knows for a fact that children must order of the regular menu at full price, don't say that it is a fact. It remind me of those on the other thread who insisted that children are not allowed.
