Kids are all grown up - Are you still going to Disney?

Yes !!!!

Only now they bring fiances. When DH and I say we're going to Disney, they say, "Great, when are WE going?" I always reply, "Who said anything aboiut WE?" But they wind up coming with us anyway.

We have been going to WDW for the past seven years without any kids. We didn't DVC until last year. Our kids are 30, and 24. We are just waiting for the grandchildren to come now so we can spoil them with WDW.

Our sons are 14 and 15 and they constantly tell us that they will be going to DVC resorts as long as we will take them! Someday, (hopefully not in the near future) we will be taking grandchildren so the window of opportunity for my DH and I being alone at WDW is quite narrow. ;) ;)

I think it would be fun to go alone (just DH and I) once, but we have such a good time with our kids!

Our kids are 29(DS) and 17 (DD). We bought into DVC 5 years ago and use it more now than when we bought in. We are taking in-laws(79+80) and our kids and grandson(1 1/2 yrs old) to Vero and getting a Beach Cottage for them.

A lot of the times we just go by ourselves(just got back from cruise

) and don't bring any kids.

...we have owned DVC for around 3 years now. Although our home is VWL we have made numerous trips to Vero as a couple and had a great time! Also took a Christmas trip to VWL last year and had a fabulous time just the two of us. Enjoyed the jacuzzi (indoors and out), bike ride to Ft. Wilderness, great dinners at Epcot and Artists Pt. We jumped on the boats and went all over th place. We had time to explore the resorts and savor many things we missed when our boys were small. Although we look forward to taking grandchildern someday, we are enjoying a different aspect of WDW at this point in our lives. We have tried numerous times to get or kid-less family and friends to join us but they just can't seem to believe that there is more to Disney than just jumping in the teacups with toddlers! Oh well.

We joined DVC back in 1992 when our kids were still in their teens - now they are 22,27, and 29. If I'm really lucky I get dh and myself down there 3 times a year. The kids ask to come along once in a while. It's just nice to go home again and again and again! I will never regret the decision to purchase and enjoy every visit every time!!!

Okay, just got home from a loooong week at work and now trying to work on my taxes, so pardon me for not reading the whole thread.
That being said, I just can not ignore this subject...
My wife and I absolutely love Disney, and have little or no desire to vacation anywhere else. I say that as someone who has visited most places in the US, and several in Canada, Mexico, Bahamas, Bermuda and the Caribbean.
We are childless (so far), and we bought DVC to use with, or without children.

Even if we are not fortunate enough to ever have children, Disney will always be a place we wish to visit.

Our kids were already married and gone when we puchased. Both of their families love Disney also and they are both thinking about puchasing DVC. There is lots of things for just adults to do there. We think it's a great place to just sit at the pool and relax too.

We vacation during the year to other areas, but DVC is the only vacation my 20 year old insists on going to. She never seems to let us leave her behind for these trips. We also have a 10 and 7 year olds, so it will always be kids or grandkids.

We've been DVC members for 10 years now. DS is now in college, but still looks forward to the return "home".

DW keeps wanting to use our points for exchange purposes closer to the house.

Lately, she's been getting her way. But, to steal a quote from a classic movie, DS and I feel "There's no place like home!"

Wouldn't if be nice to have ruby red slippers that could save
on airfare?

We too purhased "Conch Flats" from Disney in 1992. Our use year is Sept. Just wished we had not taken it so much for granted then. Free passes, wow what a deal!! I should have gone more then when my daughter was 12 and son 15(DH's kids were already on their own) but didn't and banked many points from year to year. Now we own 1200 points and rarely go with our kids. This year we have let my step-son and family go to Vero on us, older son and wife to Lake George concierge collection, youngest son and daughter and spouses to OKW in 2 bdrm and finally daughter to OKW with friend in January in 1 bdrm. All the kids from our blended family have always opted for OKW when staying at WDW. This is where they feel "at home". This year we have a family reunion with my dh's kids and grandkids in Vero in April and a trip to Disney with oldest granddaughter in 10 day. She will be in a studio at OKW with her roommate and we will be at VWL in 1 bdrm. In June we take our 6 yo GS to SS. In Sept we are going to OKW with my neice. She will be in a studio with her new husband and we will be in a 1 bdrm. There are also many vacations for DH and I alone. All in all, we don't need to worry if we will use our points, we always do. And we can do it without kids or grandkids. In fact sometimes I greatly prefer it.

If the truth was known, DH bought this for ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!:earsgirl:

I'm the Disney Nut :hyper: in the family. I'll be going to WDW long after my son has grown up.

I'm hoping that my love for the "World" as an adult will rub off on him. I dream of bringing "grand children" to WDW.

Alas, I guess however I have a bit of a wait. He's only 14!

We didn’t join until we were in our 60’s and since then we have been to WDW a total of 37 nights during four stays and during each of those stays at least one of the kids showed up for a few days. We all went last Thanksgiving…fourteen of us. I guess you can say we bought into DVC because of the family. Now I doesn't think it will feel right without any kids or grandkids with us.

I had been to DL when I was 8 yrs old. Tried for yrs to get DH to take our kids but .. no. Talked him into taking grandson when he was 3 and the following yr I bought into DVC . I have made a trip every year since then (7 yrs ago) . With DH once , grandson 6 times and the GREATEST GIFT to myself is the 4 trips BY MYSELF !!! Just sorry I can't make a 50th birthday trip (TOO BUSY in PARKS for the 4th of July)

Looking forward to May and the HOMECOMING where I hope to meet some of the wonderful DVC members for the first time !!

I could definately go to WDW ALONE!!!!!:wave2:

DD22 loves our WDW trips. She has a fellow who has never been, but will be going with our family in the future. They are getting serious and if that boy knows whats good for himself he will love Disney. Oh that's not a threat just a strong suggestion ;)

My kids are 18, 15, and 12. They still love going to Disney. Now the two older ones can do the parks pretty much on their own..We also go to VB, HHI and have done 7-day cruises. Going to Disney this Aygust, HHI for Thanksgiving. We're also planning a summer 2005 cruise and all my kids are still coming on all the Disney vacations. We also go with another Dvc family from our area on the cruises.

Although we have gone to Disney several times, we just bought DVC last summer and our son is 17. He has never outgrown the desire to go to Orlando (nor have we!). His tastes have changed over the years and a few years back, we added US/IOA to our time in Orlando. Sometimes we will do US/IOA in the am and then do Disney in the afternoon/evening. We also noticed with having only one child, that once they became a teen, it was wise to take along a friend.

We are looking forward to his "college years" and the opportunity to sneak away to Disney---just the two of us again!

We love WDW without kids! We are looking forward to taking our grandchildren (and their parents) someday, but it will be a whole different kind of fun, focused on their needs. I'm sure it will be great, but I'm also sure it will be tiring too - especially since I will do a lot of cooking to keep the cost and the hassle for them down. I know I will go right back into "mom-mode" - I know this because that's what I do as soon as see my married daughters now. What can I do to help? Change diapers, do the dishes? Whatever.

Now it's just pure fun. My husband and I can get dressed and get to the parks early, ride the rides we want to ride before the crowds get bad, eat a nice, quiet, sit-down meal every day in any restaurant of our choice, go back to the hotel (we're only DVC wanabees at this point) and nap and swim on our schedule, and then go back to see the fireworks at a park of our choice. It's very relaxing to meander around with nobody's needs to consider but your own. It's a very different experience from all the fun memories I have of running from ride to ride with our daughters when they were small. but it's great! We're completely hooked and hope to buy into DVC someday to keep the new memories coming. ::MinnieMo
