What is the oddest creation your little darling has served up, and did you eat it?

DS 11 has always had an interest in cooking. He has actually gotten quite good. However, when he was about 7 or 8 (in the era of green ketchup) he decided to help me with dinner by preparing the baked beans. I told him what I typically put in them and let him have at it (no knives or appliances of course, I would handle the baking part myself). Well he used the green ketchup. And it did not blend in! We ended up with baked beans that were the color of those little green army men we had way back when I was a kid! DS loved them, I was able to bluff my way through since DS knows I don't care much for baked beans anyway. DH could not even handle having them on his plate :p . Of course after this DS wanted to use the green ketchup every time we had beans. He actually did repeat the dish, but only when DH was out of town ;) .

My children aren't cooking yet.

The green ketchup reminded me of the time I made meat loaf and the only ketchup I had was.....green. My husband could hardly eat it.:p

I get migraines from time to time. My kids know that mommy needs to sleep to be able to get over them. They surprise me with things when I wake up to make me feel better. One time, my ds decided I needed some hot chocolate (he knows mommy can't stand hot chocolate, btw;)). His concoction was seaweed green. When he left the room for a minute, his sister told me a few things that was in it-pickles, hot chocolate, mayonnaise, eggs, dish washing detergent, LOTS of food coloring, and some things she couldn't remember. Luckily, my migraine and the nauseous stage of it had assed. No, I didn't drink it, but he doesn't know that.;)

My DS made a cake ~ all by himself today! A boxed cake, so nothing complicated. Then when he finished, I poured the batter from the bowl into the baking pans. He loves to cook/bake.

The last 2 times we went to Disney, we signed him up for the "Grand Adventures in Cooking" at the Grand Floridian. Last week he had a little presentation at school since he was "Star of the Week" (each 2nd grader gets their turn). Anyway, in his little presentation, he had to fill out & deliver orally, a little autobiography & he said that when he grows up he wants to be a Chef at a Disney restaurant! Hey, I'm all for it!!! It would be great to know someone who works there!! :Pinkbounc

DD's cook every Friday night. They always get out the kids in the kitchen cookbook from TPC a few days in advance and plan what they're making. Thankfully since they are following a recipe, it turns out fine!

They like making english muffin pizzas the most, since they can put as much or as little of everything on it...DH and I usually eat something else on those nights though...

Cooking with kids is a blast, my mom use to let DB and I do the same thing, we always enjoyed it.

DS(4 today) loves to cook. We're not sure how he got into our family as that's not something we really enjoy doing. Loves to watch Emeril on TV -- will sit there through most of the entire show getting new ideas.

The strangest he ever came up with had to be Strawberry Soup. DH helped him make it and it sure took a lot of time to add all the "extra" ingredients. I know they used strawberries for the base and just about every spice in the house. Up front, I casually mentioned that Mommy didn't like strawberry soup. DH bluffed his way through tasting it.

The other thing he gets really excited about is asparagus. We've bought it twice in the last couple of months and he get so excited to make "special dinner". He will sit with a plastic knife and cut the asparagus up into little 1" pieces. He'll then cut up some peppers. They then go into the wok and he'll patiently watch as they get cooked up. The last time, DH talked him into adding some strip steak in too. That dinner we actually ate -- a bit unusual but not bad.

DS4 also loves to crack eggs. He's practicing to learn to do it with 1 hand. One afternoon, not long ago, I had a woman here from the USDA food program for my daycare. In a matter of minutes saying goodbye to her at the front door, DS took out the carton of eggs and cracked them all into a bowl. Yep, scrabbled eggs for snack that afternoon.:teeth:

I just bought him a little chef outfit for his birthday. I can't wait to see him cooking in it.

12yodd is our resident cake maker and cookies too. This past year she has been helping me with dinner. (per my request)
In fact last night she BBQ'ed for the first time. She made brats on the grill.
I am trying to teach her everything I know.

Ds is more into making up strange drink items. He doesn't put anything toxic in them (they may appear that way though;) ) He usually tries them first. Can't tell how many have been dumped:p

When we were young my brother made a green cake. I know it had a basic cake mix, green food coloring, graham crackers, and a few other things in it. It was not too moist when he was finished.:o We have pictures of him and what is now known as "The Cake" somewhere:)

Please forgive anything spelled wrong or sentences that don't make sense. I'm trying to type with a cat kissing my nose and standing in front of the keyboard and screen

DD wasn't in to cooking much when she was a child (she still isn't). My dear nephew loves to cook and actually cooked some pretty good meals when he lived with us. DD's niece (husbands sisters daughter) loves to cook. She already wants to be a chef when she grows up. Personally, I love to cook. It is actually therapuetic for me.
