Why you wonder?
Ive spent 3 lovely hours in our local walk in center with our darling 3 year old who thought my decorative twigs with beads would make a great new toy, especially the beads! which she handpicked then pushed one into her ear ..we was seen after 45mins then the nurse Hmmed and ahhed you can see the tip of the bead but its that far in! we was then sent back out whilst they discussed what to do,waited another hour and half to be called back in,another nurse tried to use very fine tweezers and a little gripper but NOPE no avail its well and truely lodged in,after a quick chat she rang ENT but no one there to take the call we was then told "take this number ring it tommorow,Ill send all files onto ENT who will see you within 2 weeks, they will have to see you within this time as it was no doubtely get infected...." yes her words.
We left confused with a 3 year old batting her ear.

Well instead of waiting Ive rang earlier and we have to go to another town to see a ENT specialist tommorow, its looking likely they might have to put her to sleep Im praying not.

So our DD as a bead for her ear
Here's hoping they can flush it out, etc? anyone any experience with it? lol surely it cant be just our curious child whos done this?:confused3

I cant believe they was going to see you in 2 weeks?

Hopefully they can sort it out tomorrow and it wont be painful for DD.

OMG 2 weeks! That's terrible....hopefully you will get it sorted tomorrow.

One of my nephews had a habit (a few years ago) of sticking toy parts up his nose my SIL had to take him to the hospital twice but thankfully the items were removed with tweezer type things.

I'm shocked that they were going to wait 2 weeks. I hope ENT can remove it tomorrow :thumbsup2

Just a thought, but would something like putting a hose from a vacuum cleaner over the ear and suck it out work? :confused3

Yes, my DD did the same a couple of years ago. Don't try to remove it yourself (and definitely don't follow the vacuum cleaner idea!) -- it could damage the eardrum or push the bead further in to the ear canal. It's better left exactly where it is until the ENT specialist can remove it properly. Good luck!

Bless her, i can't believe they said up to two weeks! thats shocking.

My friends little girl stuck a bead down her at school, she took her to the dr's who could not remove it with tweezers, Amy ended up having to be put to sleep , but this was only as a precaution as they did not want to catch the ear drum when removing the bead or for Amy to flinch whilst they were trying to remove it. She was fine and was only under for a very short time. Lets us know how you get on tomorrow! I hope shes not in any discomfort.

Oh poor thing-i hope she's not in any pain. Please let us know how you get on tomorrow.DONT touch it or try to remove it+try not to let her put her finger in her ear in case she pushes it down deeper.x.

Oh my, kids

I've no experience of beads and ears but Eve did manage to push a 'Fuzzy Felt' figure up her nose when she was about the same age :scared1:
I had to hold her upside down and grab it with the tweezers..........

Hope things go well at the ENT specialist tomorrow :flower3:

hope all goes well tomorrow,:flower3: my middle ds has had to have various objects removed from his nose and ears when he was younger

Oh the joys of having curious tots :rotfl:

I cant believe they were expecting you to wait 2 weeks - I hope its all sortes out tomorrow. Dont worry too much if they have to send her to sleep - it should only be for a short while and atleast they will be able to make sure everything is OK and she wont know a thing about it.

Please let us know how you get on

Leave the bead!!, let the ENT specialist have a look tomorrow, they deal with these foreign bodies day in day out and hopefully they'll be able to remove it without putting her to sleep ;), one of mine put a bead up her nose, lucky for us she sneezed and it fell out, but then decided to put it straight back :scared1: , but I managed to retrieve it before she pushed it further back :rolleyes1 .
I can't believe they wanted you to wait 2wk's :confused3 , hope everything goes ok tomorrow :goodvibes

Hope ENT will get the bead out tomorrow it must be very worrying for you both
Will send hug for you as i think you could do with one after the day you've had. :grouphug:
Pixie dust for DD ready for tomorrow pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

Good luck for tomorrow, I hope they managed to sort it out.

Glad it hasnt been just my DD whos done this :lmao:
Thanx everyone,we havent touched it.
She says her ear is "funny" bless her I hope she doesnt do this again but whos betting?

Hope all goes well tomorrow

A friend of our's DD pushed a bit of sponge up her nose. It must have been well hidden as they couldn't work out what the terrible smell was for a long time :)
