Kids 10 and over using adult menu?

My DS will be 11 years old when we go to WDW. Will there be a problem with him ordering off the adult menu if he wants to? He loves steak and since we are paying the extra money on the dining plan, I will let him order off the adult menu if he see's something he likes. Has anybody had a problem with kids ordering off the adult menu on the dining plan?

TIA,

Loralie

If you've paid adult price for him then I don't see any problem at all.

An 11 year old is considered an adult at Disney.
They would expect him/her to order off of the adult menu.

BTW, we just returned from Disney on Sunday.
We were on the Dining Plan.
DD11 ordered off of the adult menu each time (but most of our meals were buffets). At the buffets, anyone can choose from anything, kid or adult food.

As long as you want to pay adult prices for it, they don't have a problem. They get upset when you order off the adult menu but expect a lower price because it is a child. A few years ago we saw quite an argument about this at Boatwrights.

On your room keys it will list him as an Adult (just don't let him see that. LOL) I wish Disney would refer to them in a different way. I hate having my DD12 as an adult. Bad enough she thinks she's one, last thing I need is Disney confirming it. Only kidding, well not really but you understand.

I have an 11yo as well, and we just returned last week. For all Disney purposes your 11yo is an adult. Even when you're not using the dining plan (which we weren't, but will in September) there are restaurants that expect a child of 10 or over to order from the adult menu. At buffets and fixed price meals there is no choice but to pay adult rates for a child that age. At Akershus we were told that as an adult he would order from the adult menu, but if there was nothing he liked he could order from the kids' menu and get an adult portion.

The only restaurant with a regular menu that seemed like they'd be insistent upon making him order an adult meal was The Plaza. As my ds prefers kids meal food a lot of times he did order off the kids menu whenever he wanted to. At the Plaza we just ordered enough food to go around and all shared (though technically we got 2 adult sandwiches and 2 kids' meals....ordered for our 5yo and 1yo dd's).

But anyway, specifically to answer your question...on the dining plan if you're paying the adult rate you order adult food, if you're paying the child rate you must order from the kids' menu wherever its available. But a child of 11 is an adult and will not be expected to order from the child's menu...in fact, some places even frown upon it.

It won't be a problem at all. He is on the adult dining plan, so you can order off either the adult menu or child's menu. Where they get concerned is if you have a 9-10 year old who paid the child price and wants the adult meals.

This past summer when we went my DD was 11 and most the times she ordered her meal off the kid's menu. Occasionally she would do the adult menu and occasionally she would do the meal on kid's menu but the dessert from the adult menu. One time we *all* ordered the dessert that was on the kid's menu. :rotfl2:

They never once said anything about it.

(We were on the Premium plan, so had paid adult prices for her.)
