I'll go back Alison and reread your post as soon as I wake up :faint: from fainting over the fact that you are correct, and I do need to replan my whole trip. :rotfl2:

Gussy, here's what I've got. Note these are from 2007 and 2009:

I swear, I thought I had more of the inside. Chloe asleep with the nasty comforter pulled up. She hit the bed before I had a chance to remove it. :rotfl2:

I must not have taken many pics because with 5 of us, I'm sure our room was a mess. :lmao:

Thanks for posting POR pics Jenny. :goodvibes
Your kids were so little!
It's a beautiful resort. It looks so serene.

It really is a pretty resort. And it's huge too. Our first stay was in the boonies, I think Building 25. Our second stay was Building 14 and I loved it. Don't forget to request even if it's for a night. :thumbsup2

That was over 3 years ago. They were so little. I got a kick out of looking at them. Maybe I'll post more.

Summer is good but so busy!

Aww thanks :goodvibes

What have you guys been doing?

I KNOW BWV had wine, it was thoroghly overpriced when I was there. I just throw a box into my suitcase. You don't even have to hassle with a corkscrew! :lmao:

What boxed wine do you drink? I didn't picture you as a boxed wine kinda gal especially after seeing your wine rack/cellar/wall/storage.;)

Thanks for the AoA pictures! I REALLY want to stay in Carsland suites now!

Well on my PTR, I'm going to start going through my days, kind of like you are. I need to look at the map to get an idea of which booths are where. They move them all around. In 2009 New Zealand was in the UK, then last year it was over near Germany in the area towards the African Outpost. I KNOW that my first stop is Ireland (which is hopefully still in the UK.).

OK, I just looked up the map and save it on my computer. Here is a synopsis of how the first part of the first day will go (oh and BTW, I moved my trip up two days from October 10-20 to October 8-18). We get to WDW on the 10th, but we're at VWL so we'll be checking out the New Fantasyland. In fact, :scratchin I should make us a lunch reservation at Be My Guest, or is it QS for lunch? Our Flying Fish dinner is the 11th and the next day we move to the BCV, then F&W really starts. It's a Friday, so we probably won't spend a lot of time there.

Once we get to BCV, I will go directly to Ireland for the Fisherman's pie and Chocolate Lava Cake. We might get four cakes, they're really tiny. Two for each of us. Canada and Greece the next closest and they are right across from each other, and we'll get one of everything from those. Well maybe not the Greek Yogurt, I can open one of those at home and it won't cost me $2-4. By this time we will have eaten, a Lobster & Scallop pie, two pieces of cake, cheddar cheese soup (to die for), part of a fillet, a piece of chicken sausage, greek salad, griddled cheese, chicken souvlaki and spanakopita. Not to mention we will have had a cup of Guiness, and 6-7 thimbles of wine.

I think we'll be done for a little while and we'll be just about to the bridge between Future World and World Showcase. The next booth is the Desserts and Champagne so we might decide to eat the Chocolate Mousse thingy from there, but everything else (well the champagne) food-wise doesn't appeal to me at all. This would be the time to check out Mouse Gear, Ellen's Ride, Malestrom or the Three Caballeros, NOT Mission Space! :rotfl:

It may take an hour or two for us to get hungry again and then depending on where we are, we will probably hit three more booths. The thing is on a Friday night, the lines are going to start to get longer and sometimes you will have to wait 20+ minutes just to get three little tastes. At that point it is time to leave (at least for me). On the weekdays when we are planning to meet up the lines will be much shorter. Now with your crew, if everyone takes one bite of the food, it could be all gone. There are only two of us sharing so we usually get quite a few bites of everything (except the darned lava cake!).

I would think about it in terms of how your family will tour and eat. Do you want to try almost everything from every kiosk? Will everyone just take one bite and be happy? Will you go back and get things you like or wait until you've tried everything? I'm going to post pictures of all the things I want to eat so you can see how big they are and some are lots of bites, some are just a couple. Go ahead re plan your trip again! :rotfl2: :p

Okay, I'm still overwhelmed even after the second reading. And third. Looks like my Epoct days will have to be full days. I've got some changing to do.

As far as the kids go, I'm not sure how much time they'll want to spend at F&W or with us in general. We're going to give them a little less freedom than they ask for this trip.

Are you posting the pics of things you want to eat in your thread? Please let me know when you do. I'm not much the sweets and champagne type either. Bring on the MEAT! pirate:

Guess whose on with SW changing to earlier flights? I tried to talk to hubster about it and all he could say was, let me know when you make the change. :rotfl: He knows me well.

Well right now I'm just drinking Franzia Chardonnay, it's only $11.99 for 5 Liters and it doesn't taste bad. This is my evening sipping wine, and if I'm not making anything special I'll drink it with dinner. However, tonight when I make us the Beef Ribs with BBQ sauce, corn and green beans, I'm going to be pulling out a nice hearty Zinfandel from the "red wine wall". Mostly what's in there is reds, I don't have enough wine to only drink from the cabinet on daily basis, so I mostly save those for good meals or special occasions. I do have A LOT of special occasion wines and not enough occasions or people who would enjoy it to drink them with!

As far as posting the pictures of F&W items in my PTR it will be a few weeks. There are some there from when I was hoping to go last time and a lot of it will be recycled. I have to put up the update from my little mini trip to DL first, then I will get on with the day to day plans. Have you been over to my PTR lately? Sad news.

And lastly here are some shots from POR when it was Dixie Landings. I'm sure they have had a refurb or two since I stayed here almost 15 years ago!

Cool pics! Why did they change the name?

I'm sorry to hear about Arline. I posted in your thread but think it got missed. Hopefully now Arline can rest in peace on the heels of forgiveness.

I promise when I get out there, I'll share a bottle of your wine ;-)

I've been pouring through the F&W events. There are a few interesting ones that wouldn't make me have to change my schedule at all or very little! party:

I'm specifically looking at (in no order other than the F&W event booklet):

Oct 21 - Sweet Sunday with Erika Davis
Oct 20 - cheese seminar with cheeses from France. I'd have to adjust our schedule a little but nothing harrowing
Oct 20 or 21- Mexican Tequila Lunch
Oct 23 - Italian Food and Beer Pairing :woohoo:
Oct 20- Italian Regional Food & Wine Luncheon
Oct 16 - Food and Wine Pairing Morocco
Oct 17 - Food and Wine Pairing Japan

We could do 4 Eat to the Beats but I don't care for any of the bands playing on our days. Or really at all. :lmao:

So I've got options without moving any days. The most it would require is bailing on the kids an hour or so earlier than planned which I'm sure they'd survive. ;)

I booked a preferred room, so I need to do a little research to see which buildings fall in that category. I would LOVE a corner room.

My family wants to keep POR and book a couple of nights at AoA the next trip. We definitely won't have time to explore AoA much this time around. I know I'll be anxious to get to BCV the next morning. So, it looks like that's what we're going to do. My dad is from New Orleans. I wonder if he'll find POR authentic at all LOL.

Guess whose on with SW changing to earlier flights? I tried to talk to hubster about it and all he could say was, let me know when you make the change. :rotfl: He knows me well.

Yay!!! :cheer2:

What time do you leave Utah?

We leave at 7:30 and arrive at 4:30 with a plane change in Vegas. I'm totally fine with that. We'll let ME deal with our bags and head straight to the resort. I'm figuring we'll arrive about 6:00 which means we'll check in, head for food, and then a swim. I'm so much more excited now. And now that I've got F&W partially figured out, I'm feeling less stressed. Now if I could properly tackle the FP beast, I'd be golden.

I forgot how pretty POR is and I think you'll like it. It's very pretty. You can always stay at AoA when the kids are bigger and need more room. Our room was preferred too so a pool view is totally an option. :thumbsup2

I think the POFQ is authentic but not the Bayou section which is where we stayed. They do have snakes though and lots of greenery. :rotfl:

I caught your post in my thread. Thanks for your condolences.

We'll have to share a couple bottles of wine, but at dinner, not lunch! :rotfl:

We are looking at the Beer lunch the week before you, but I'm mostly leaning toward the tequila lunch because we can do it on a Saturday and avoid the kiosk lines. I can help you out with the Japan tasting, we did that in 2009. Basically they gave you three cups of sake and a bonus one (I'm sure they change it every year). But the chef wanted to point out how different the sake would taste with each of the different foods provided. I'll try to remember what everything was.

I think this one was Salmon on the one side and squid or snapper on the other

IMG_1825.jpg

This was tuna inside a sesame seed ball

IMG_1829.jpg

And the same sake was paired with a beef roll.

IMG_1830.jpg

I have no idea what this was! Might have been a third item to try with the second sake, the glass is the same. Oh! Now I see! It's the tuna ball cut in half! :lmao:

IMG_1831.jpg

The last sake was paired with very hearty dishes. This was a pork belly, that was totally lucious

IMG_1833.jpg

This one was some kind of ground up organ meat, that though I took a bite, Or maybe it was sea urchin or one of those other things my father loves and the sushi bar. I couldn't bring myself to eat more than a itty bitty taste.

IMG_1836.jpg

If you have a limited diet, I wouldn't reccomend this one. I told them I didn't eat Salmon and they wanted to take away the plate with the Salmon. I told them don't worry Fran would eat it and at least tried it. If you need a substitution, at least here, they didn't do it, they just omitted it. The last thing was some sort of tradtional "end of meal" dish. It was some kind of soup made with tea. Not bad....

IMG_1837.jpg

So that's what "might" happen at the Japanese tasting. Seems to me when we did it in 2009 it was $35pp, I didn't notice what it is going for now.

Thank you Alison for posting such a detailed review. I'm not a sake lover and quite honestly, aside from the last dish, they didn't look all that appealing. I think I'd choose Morocco over Japan. Would you do Japan again?

The tequila and beer pairings both look good as does the Italian wine pairing. I'm looking forward to something we've never done! :thumbsup2

I think it's $55 per person now.

I have been scouring the kiosks but can't seem to find where they are located. Did you say you had a map? :flower3:

Hmmmm......Alison, now that I really study the maps and offerings, we are going to have to mix it up some. I'm not sure how to even fit in a special event with all of the kiosks. We might be ditching the kids more than anticipated.;) With my 3-4 per day plan, we'd have to hit Epcot daily which just can't happen. Back to the drawing board......:hourglass

That's a great arrival time! You'll have plenty of time to explore the resort and relax.

I booked preferred because we wanted to be near the food court. We figure we'll drop off our bags and head to get a quick dinner in the evening. The next morning, we'll walk over for breakfast before going to BCV. I did online check-in today. I am so ready to go!

The F&W menus look fantastic! Who needs a dining planing during F&W.

Agreed. I have Rose and Crown on one of our Epcot nights. I'm so looking forward to it but can't imagine that we'll need it, ya know? Decisions, decisions.......

I'm looking especially forward to Australia, the beer kiosks, France, Greece, Ireland, Japan, Morocco, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa. Im not overly excited about China, Desserts and Champagne, Italy, Scandinavia, or South Korea. I'm sure we'll hit them but their full offerings don't light my fire.

Building 14 puts you near the food court too I believe. If there's a POR super thread, they've most likely got a map.

So it looks like I *get* to redo Day 1 as I changed our flights. pixiedust: I am so happy I decided to change them for so many reasons. I'm sad we'll miss our friend's DD's bat mitzvah but in all reality we would have only been able to stay an hour and sometimes, leaving during the middle is more of a scene than not attending. We'll give her our congrats before. I'm at peace with this decision. So back to the plan. A bigger, better plan! :cheer2:

Saturday Oct 13:
- leave SLC for MCO
- arrive in MCO at 4:30 pm. So much better than our 9:00 pm arrival. :cool1:
- not stress about ME, bell services, or when our luggage will arrive. I've decided that DH and I will each pack small carry on that will have everyone's pjs, meds, necessary toiletries (Gabby's flat iron, not a necessity :rotfl2:), swim suits, and a change of clothes for the next day. I'm going to have AoA hold our luggage overnight and then transfer it to the THV the next day. This will save me time and money. :rotfl2:
- check in and check out AoA in the form of swimming or eating
- do what we didn't between swimming and eating ;)
- shop. The gift shop looks FUN! And I love resort specific merchandise. - - bed at a decent hour to be up and at 'em the next day for a possible rope drop at MK.

Well I'm glad that I helped you figure this out before you had all your days planned completely. It takes some serious planning to eat and drink F&W properly! :rotfl2:

My first year at Epcot's Festival we had ADRs one per day. It was sort of a mistake. We were there from Friday to Friday and we went to Epcot every day (HS for one afternoon) and we barely got to try everything we wanted to once. No ADRs for me when we are staying at BCV only at VWL.
