I've read a rumor that the one more Disney day has to do with leap day. The rumor is that US Disney parks will be open for 24 hours on leap day. I hope the announcement is much better than that.

 I will be all sorts of disappointed!

I heard this rumor too. Unfortunately, I believe it to be true. Nine times out of ten when Disney has a "major" announcement, it's something that doesn't live up to the hype.

:ccat: 77 days until 7 month booking!!! :ccat:

:donald: 211 until ADRs!!! :donald:

:stitch: 291 days until WDW!!! :stitch:

So will I. :sad2:

I'm hoping for some fantastic promotion like YOAMD.

Me too! :woohoo: Our 2007 was filled to the brim with a Dreams and Magical Moments. :cloud9: It was insane. Helped turn DH from a muggle to a lover.

I hope the brains at Disney didn't choose NYE to announce something as stupid as not closing on Leap Day. Who even wants to do MK for 24 hours?

Hey! I came over here from the October 2012 thread and wanted to join along!

:welcome: So glad you're here. I love having so many of us planning October together. In just 3.5 short days we can say:

:woohoo: We're going to WDW this year!!! :woohoo:

I do know that there is an organization called something like "One More Day" that has to do with organ donors. Perhaps that will play into it.

We already pay an arm and a leg, what more could Disney want? :rotfl2:  I'm so joking, distastefully even. Sorry, it was the first thing that came to mind.

I am an organ donor. :goodvibes

I am one too. Actually it would be a great thing if they add an extra day to a ticket because you are an organ donor or if they give a day for it.

I agree! They'd be promoting a sense of community like with Give a Day, Get a Day. :thumbsup2

I am in serious planning mode. :surfweb:

How is the VDay trip progressing?

Well, I have our car rented, the room is set up, the tickets or part of them are taken care of. It is too early to reserve the meal at the restaurant, and I decided against making any ADRs. I think we are going to just do walk up. I am pretty sure it will not be busy enough for us to need them.

:woohoo: I like the idea of walking up. I bet you're right that it won't be all that busy. That way you aren't tied down. :thumbsup2

It will be a great trip. Romantic.

I figure the week before Presidents Day is a safe bet for slow crowds.

Is there much on the refurb list?

Well, the schedule isn't up for the week we are going yet but it is up the week before. The Matterhorn is being refurbed, and the Columbia. In DCA it is just the Grizzly River Run. So really there aren't many closures.

That's not bad. I can totally live without GRR and the Columbia. Now The Matterhorn might be tough for me but DH hates it as it hurts his lower back.

No it's not. I have read that the Columbia opens right before we go. The GRR is not something I will miss. It is too cold for me in February to want to get all wet anyway. The Matterhorn we don't do anyway because Scotty's back just can't handle it.

So really no big deal on the closures. That's awesome! It's such a risk during off season to miss some favorites. I'm glad you won't be. :goodvibes

In a couple of days, we'll finally find out what Disney has up their sleeve. I'm crossing my fingers that it's not lame.

Are you heading over to Universal to see Harry Potter? My brother and I had a long talk this afternoon about that. I don't know if I can leave WDW.

I can't wait to hear what they've come up with! It's so cool that you guys are throwing a neat celebration. :thumbsup2 I'll be stalking your FB that week for pics.

No Universal here. I know I can't leave. It would be emotionally impossible. :lmao: Seriously. No one here is a huge HP fan anyway and have expressed little interest.

I started my trip planning binder today :cloud9: It's got multiple color coded sections. I've already got menus for The Turf Club and Saana printed out. I am a serious planning nerd. DH has finally come to grips with it. It's only taken 18 years. I also printed out posts from the thread I started asking about AKV and SSR specific resort activities and things not to miss. And of course I printed out the contact info for both resorts. I'm in overdrive! :hyper: The binder will make it on the airplane and out in the morning but never to be seen in public. :ssst: :rotfl2:

The new Paddock pool at SSR has a good looking pool bar food menu. I need my pool munchies. We'll bring down beers, water, and some grapes and small snacks but the kids love ordering from the pool.

The room service prices are not terrible either. I am either drinking too much kool aid or have become completely desensitized to Disney's prices. Or both. ;) But really, $8.00 for a pins coloada is what they charge here.

I'm excited about planning the party. Deciding on a dessert menu is not exactly hard work. :rotfl:

I'm not so into Universal. My brother just wants to go to Islands of Adventure to see Harry Potter. I'm trying to convince my brother that it's not worth it. Actually, a couple of friends went last summer and were not impressed at all.

Post a picture of your trip planning binder! I need to start one. I have tons of info to print out, but I haven't done it yet. LOL I'm the same way with the binder. I never take it out! Actually, I never bring it on the plane. I pull out what's important and put it in one of those 8 pocket folders.

I don't find Disney prices on food and drinks that bad anymore either. In NYC, the food and drinks are expensive all the time. I think I'm just used to it.
