I hope you get your CL room. I have only done CL at the Poly and CR. The CR was SO much better than the Poly.

One of the drawbacks to CL at AKV is not being guaranteed a certain view. It would stink to give up a SV for a pool view.

I'm trying to book new places as well. But some old favorites keep popping up. Character meals are a must, particularly Crystal Palace. My 7 yr old nephew has requested Sci Fi. As for other places, I'm still up in the air. I need to check out some menus.

One of the party planners at the CR left a message for me yesterday. Unfortunately, I was so busy I couldn't get back to him. I plan on speaking to him today. According the Disney's website, we could do a private catered event at the resorts or something in one of the theme parks. For Illuminations, they rope off a viewing area, set up tables, and dinner, dessert, drinks, etc. From what I understand, there is a fee to rent the space and then the cost of food. I've also seen info on ToT parties. I may have to look into that one too.

I'm hoping the announcement on New Year's Eve is worth the wait!

Sorry Jen, I'm stuck with kids PC and want to pound my head into the wall. :headache:

I am so torn on even requesting CL. I cannot decide between the view and perks. :upsidedow First world problems suck. ;)

If the announcement is lame I'm going to be pissed.

What made the CR CL better than the Poly's? popcorn::

I've the Illumination's private event and wow is all I can say! That would be an amazing celebration. Did you call back; what did they say?

Now that mine seem to be over the characters  they don't seemed too concerned with where we eat as long as it's good and offers more than chicken nuggets and grilled cheese. Man my kids palates have got expensive in this past year. :scared1: Do the character meals as long as they want. I miss those days and they barely ended.

You can see what's available at the 7 month mark. If CL is available, I'd scoop it up.

The food in the CR lounge and the set-up was better than the Poly. I didn't care for the Hawaii CL building at the Poly. The rooms were smaller than the newer buildings. We stayed in the Tahiti buiilding a few months before our CL stay and it was much roomier. Also, I'm not a huge fan of the separate buildings at the Poly. I love the all under one roof aspect of the CR. We could just go downstairs to visit the shops, get something to eat, etc. At the Poly, you have to walk over to the GCH. It's not a bad walk and I'm used to walking a lot. But in the rain, you're stuck.

I have so much info on the Illuminations private party and the Fantasmic! private party. I don't know which to choose and may end up doing both. :rotfl: The dessert menus are amazing and I found out we can have a funnel cake live action station. I think that would be so much fun. And much more interesting than just a table with truffles and cream puffs.

Would your kids mind one character meal? Maybe a breakfast?

I wish I could find pics of the CL sv and pool views. :confused3

The all in one aspect is awesome, I agree. The GCV are a differnt building but it's 100% covered so you don't have to walk in the rain. :thumbsup2

We have been to Cal Grill at the CR and loved it. I would eat there again in a heartbeat. CM, not so much. Having the Monorial rumble through the CR was insanely cool. :cool2:

Live action funnel cake station? :cloud9: It sounds so cool! What a great exoerience for your family. Is there a differnce in the offerings at each?

Chloe loves Chip n Dale but honestly and sadly, I believe our character meal days are over. My favorites are the Crystal Palace at MK and Storyteller's at the GCV.

I've seen the regular pool view pics. Not impressed at all. I'm not a fan of watching people frolick in the pool. If I'm going to stay at AKV, I want to see animals roaming around the fake savannah. I would def book CL if a sv was definite. I'm kind of surprised they'd have CL rooms that were not sv.

I am so excited about planning the Illuminations Dessert Party. The food/bev minimums are lower than Fantasmic! And there are so many locations to choose from.

A DLR visit may happen sooner than Feb. 2013, so I'll have to get my list of questions ready for you!

:goofy: 86 days until 7 month booking!!! :goofy:

:stitch: 220 days until ADRs!!! :stitch:

:donald: 300 days until WDW!!! :donald:

Fake savanah :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 That's exactly where I am at. I would gladly fork over borrow the additional 50 points to know I'm going to get a fake sv.

:cool1: Where are the location options? Makes sense that there would be minimums. popcorn::

Do tell!! Your nephews are going to flip for Carsland.

I'm trying to figure out if I want to do F&W and MNSSHP or Disneyland early December for a long weekend to see all of the holiday decor.

I have to get the list of locations around the WS and post it here.

I used extra points for the fake savannah view. I do not want to face a parking lot while at AKV.

Hey! I came over from the Oct 2012 thread. Do I have you on the PTR list? If I don't and you wanna be, let me know. And wowza, 137 pages in already?? :scared1:

That's awesome! I'm having so much fun planning our first trip!!! :cheer2:

This is your first trip? :wizard: You are going to love it! Have you been to Disneyland?

That's tough. I haven't been to WDW during either of those times. Have you been before? I would choose the winter holidays if not for F&W. That's really strikes my fancy.

Please post the F&W list. Are there more kiosks than countries? Do they add new locations?

You know my feelings about tha fake sv! I am all over it. I would flip if I had to look at a parking lot. I am a view junkie. A good view is like crack I'm guessing- highly addictive. :hyper:

How are the event plans coming along?

:welcome: I don't think I'm on the list but please add me. :flower3: I started this report at 500+ days out so that's why it has so many pages. I am a planning freak.

This is your first trip? :wizard: You are going to love it! Have you been to Disneyland?[/COLOR]

I've been to Disneyland twice each were just a one day trip. Last time I was in WDW was March of 1996.

This is the first trip ever for my kids!:cheer2::cool1:

And my first time ever planning a trip. It will be a first time ever staying on site for all of us (as my parents rented a condo when we went and I barely remember the first time we went...but I know we didn't stay on a resort at Disney) and I just can't wait! :woohoo:

Sorry I have been lagging, it's been crazy busy around here. Our PC is so slow and DH has been hogging his Mac. He's sleeping right now so I nabbed it.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Holiday season. :grouphug:

The kids' first trip is the best! How exciting! Are you feeling overwhelmed? I remember feeling like a fish out of water when planning our first trip. I grew up going to Disneyland. My dad would take me weekly when I was in grade school. But planning for WDW was like planning an ntire vacation if that makes sense. I love the intimacy of Disneyland but the planning of WDW is much more fun as there are just so many more choices from food, parks, resorts, etc....:cloud9:

 Nothing wrong with starting early! I'll add you to the list :)

That's why I love this place- we all get it. :goodvibes
