Hi. :flower3: How's the summer going?
It is going good, busy, but good. I can't wait for the kids to start school though I am ready for a break and Lexi is ready for homeschool to start. She likes to play with the kids but she also likes her alone time. I can keep up with the Dis more when I'm not watching kids all day.

If I could afford a private tutor I would pull the kids from traditional school. Michael and I were talking about all the things we want to do and school seems to be the biggest factor.

That is one of the best things about homeschooling. You don't have to worry about that. You can turn anything (well almost) into a field trip and it will still count as school. Just think of all the educational things at Disney, Living With the Land, Animal Kingdom especially since at AK they have the animal experts that you can stop and talk to, and World Showcase just to name a few. Here in NE we don't have to turn in anything only just fill out a form saying we are homeschooling and have it notarized. we do have to teach certain subjects but I would teach them already (math, science, english, social studies, and one other one that I can't remember right off the top of my head), we aren't required to do annual testing or send in a portifolio of their work. I do intend on doing annual testing but probabl not this yer as she is only in first grade and I will knw if she is "getting" it or not.

There has to be a hat too!! Either the the Goofy ears one or Mickey Mouse ears.

:lmao:
I agree, they are ridiculous. That's why we are are arriving on a Sunday and staying through the following Thursday; we only have one weekend to pay for. :thumbsup2 The points though for SSR don't vary that much between weekend and weekdays during our time frame. 35 for weekdays and 39 for weekends but with 12 nights, I need to conserve where I can. This mega trip will cost about 428 points. :faint: Holy crap. That's for 12 nights at SSR/THV in a 2 bedroom.

I will pretend I don't know you. :snooty: :lmao:

Just read that GCV points are going up to $130 soon so get on the waitlist soon.

I really really like it. Great population to work with.

:rotfl2:

::yes:: Me toooooo!

:thumbsup2

I like Rastafarian Goofy. :cool2:

I could rock Rasta Goofy for Halloween. :rotfl:

That point difference isn't too bad. I want to do a small add on (50-100 pts) and just need to decide where. I love BLT, but would love AKV in order to book CL at 11 months or SSR to book THV at 11 months.

We pulled both kids out of private schools for last school year and homeschooled. We loved the flexibility it gave us!

This coming year won't be as flexible because our oldest is dual enrolling at a local college.

Florida's laws are alot more strict about homeschooling. They really hold the parent accountable, but they give us different options to homeschool. We are using an umbrella school, so I don't have to do the portfolio. We still have to do the annual testing for our oldest boy.

My youngest is in first grade too! I guess testing isn't required 'til 4th grade here, but I will still get him tested this year. We didn't after kindergarten.

Do you know about the Disney Homeschool Days classes?

Or the YES program?

I think that it is wonderful that Disney is doing these things for home schooling. There are so many people that home school now.

I agree! Home schooling really takes dedication. I love that Disney really offers something for everyone.

I admire anyone that home schools their children. It is so much work and I wonder how many people realize that?

Oooh that would be perfect!!:lmao:

And big bug eye sunglasses!!

I like big bug sunglasses.

I admire those that home school. I couldn't do it but would love to hire a private tutor if we had the lifestyle that allowed it. :cloud9:

If you don't add on we could always "trade" points and I could book the THV for you.

:thumbsup2 I'm going to look into the YES program.

I would like to pay someone to teach. It's so not my thing. I'll take dealing with an unmedicated schizophrenic over teaching any day.

::yes:: I totally agree.

It's you teachers I admire. I could never do it. I subsitute taught once. :scared1:

Ohhhh good idea about THV! We could def do that.

Thanks Jenny! But I think teaching a class of 24 and getting to leave at 3:00 is easier than having a kid in your care 24/7. I give all parents a lot of credit.

I totally agree. I wouldn't want either job. ;)

So when are you thinking about the THV?

I hope you can find a good class in the YES program!

I don't know if your kids like theater, or are too young for Shakespeare, but there is a Shakespeare theater not far away from Disney. My oldest has gone on fieldtrips there. Our homeschooling group goes there often, but they don't allow elementary school age children there for their middle and high school performances. Orlando Shakespear Theater Right now they are putting on Snow White and the 7 Dwarfs, not quite Shakespear, lol.

:thanks: for the link, that's terrific! My middle DD would love this.

What kind of classes do they offer? I need to research it.

The YES program offers different kinds of classes. Some are theater/drama oriented. Some are science oriented. I was thinking of the nutrition one for my 7 year old, since most of the classes are for 8 or older, and that one was for all ages.
