Okay, we just returned from a seven night magical trip with my grandmother and mom. It was wonderful. We stayed at the AKL again and loved it!! This is the only resort we have ever stayed at and just became new owners of the Disney Vacation Club with our home resort being Beach Club Villas. Our points are banked until after April.

My husband and I want to take full advantage of our Annual Passes (and the fact that I work for an airline!) and go again for a three night weekend on January 23. I have booked three nights at the All-Star Movies for $165. I'm trying to justify the trip by saving some $$!

Anyway, can some of you veterans give me your opinion of the All Star Movies as a place to stay for a short trip. Also, any suggestions on room requests would be appreciated. Of course, I never have any luck with faxing my requests and usually end up negotiating our Savannah View (paid for but want specific location!) once we arrive.

Thanks!

Movies is great value, if you are not in the room a lot, why pay a lot??? I stayed in Love Bug 7 at the beginning of the month, it is a very short walk to the food court/bus stop. It was a quiet week, there were not oo many kids. Herbie is next to Fantasia, the "prefered" rooms, but I don't see the point of paying extra for about a 1 minute shorter walk. I was in Mighty Ducks in April, again, a very quiet week, and walked to ASMu for the food court and bus as MD is right next to that building, and a Looooong walk to ASMo main building.

It won't be ALK, or BCV, but it will be WDW! Have fun, and watch out for the Green Army Men at the Toy Story Buildings, that is one of the cutest things yet.

The deluxe resorts are very nice. But DH and I always thought if we paid a lot to stay at a resort, then we would feel like we need to spend more time there to get our $ worth. We are there for the parks, not the rooms. And we aren't pool people. If I wanted to spend time at the pool, I could do that here in town.
So I generally go cheap and spend $$$$ on pins in the parks and enjoy myself. ;)
Enjoy!! :)

Did you request the airline discount at movies?? I'm not really sure if they offer one ,but, we just stayed at Asmu with the airline discount and it was a lot less than $55 a night tax included. It was also during the value season a month and a half ago.
Maybe we should get an AP next time so we will also have an excuse to "save" money.;)

Thanks everyone!

Bridgettesmom-I did request the airline employee discount, but next year's rates are not out yet for our discounts. They said it was February last year before they released them. I'm gonna keep checking. I believe my rate was $49.00 plus tax with the AP. However, we did take advantage of our outstanding rate at the AKL in both May and December!

Any suggestions on room requests? I don't really care about proximity to the food court....bus stops are important though!

We went, sans kids, and were in Dalmation. This is relatively close to food court and bus stop, but slightly away from the chaos of the pool area.

If I were to stay at ASMO again, I would definitely request this building.

The AS' each have one bus stop, in front.
We stayed in the Woody building at ASMo and LOVED it. We had the perfect location, and were on the backside. So it was nice and quiet.
At ASMu, we paid extra for the preferred view. (Calypso) It was nice.
ASMu was not as spread out as the map looked. For slow season next month, I'm just chancing what building we get at ASMu. The walk will still be closer than what we had at CSR and POR to the main area.
We were concerned when we found our room in Calypso in October because it was facing the main pool. But the front of the room was VERY well insulated and we couldn't hear anything outside when the door was shut. ALthouigh it did smell like clorine, as you would expect. But that wasn't a big issue with us, esp for three nights when we are hardly in the room.

My bf and I have stayed at all-star's on all of our trips. We don't spend much time in the room. Movies is our favorite. To be close to the pool, lobby, and busstop, I would request dalmatians or toy story. We have always been on the top floor...just by luck and found it to be very quiet. Have a great time. We'll be there again in March :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
