Kidani washer hot/cold water lines reversed

We have been to Kidani twice since they opened, in June and last week, and both times the hot/cold water lines on the washers were reversed, most likely during a hurried installation.

You would put a load in on cold and hot water would pour into the tub. If you tried to work around the problem and wash delicates on hot, thereby dumping cold water into the tub, the rinse cycle would put out hot water.

In June we didn't think much of this because it was so new. However, the same thing occured last week. We reported the issue to maintenance both times and they came and corrected it but it appears to be more than just a coincidence. Anyone else experience this?

Meanie. :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

My theory: Disney noted you were on your way back and decided to "test" you to see how alert you were by switching the lines again. Congratulations! You passed! Disney will be offering you a position flying around the world checking out DVC and RCI units reporting back your findings. There will be a knock at your door in... 3...2...1...

Most people probably just put their clothes in and may not have noticed. Perhaps this is what you get when the contract is awarded to the lowest bidder. In S. Florida we have such trouble getting competent contractors, electricians etc.. I had an electrician fix the electric outlet and light switch by my front door, the guy fixing it said to me, "Whoever did this, sure didn't know what he was doing, this is terrible wiring." I said great, it was your company, a year and 1/2 ago! He didn't say much after that, but he did check with his office and they decided not to charge me!

Normally I would not have noticed it either but in both instances I had to reach back into the washer as it was filling up and add/remove something. What should have been cold water was extremely hot. Then when I went to retrieve a load as soon as it finished and start another one I noticed all the damp clothes were very warm after the rinse/spin cycle.

Thanks to all the jokesters in the previous posts, your comments really added to the discussion.:confused3

Life is too short not to joke sometimes. If my attempt at frivolity offended you, I apologize.

Was it the hoses or the faucets that were reversed?

:) Bill

Not sure if it was the faucets or the hoses. Both times we were out when maintenance fixed it. Niether the faucets or hoses were color coded so it was hard to tell what they actually did to correct it.

I just found it a little unusual to have the same issue in 2 different units 4 months apart, particularly since it didn't appear anyone else had bothered to complain about it at some point since the resort opened. I expected such things in June but not a week ago. Not a huge deal but odd that it hadn't been corrected earlier. I was just trying to assertain if others had seen this problem at Kidani too or was I just "lucky" both times.

I had the same problem back in July and reported it and nothing was done about it. My husband would have fixed the problem but did not have a wrench to loosen the lines.

It happened to me, too! It was back in May. I noticed when pulling my clothes out right after the rinse & spin that they were hot, meaning that the rinse water was hot instead of cold. I reported it, but it was our last day, so I don't know if it was ever fixed.

Now we know why so many DVC'ers say DDP is too much food. It's not that waistlines are getting larger, but clothes are shrinking

Yup, just happened to me 3 weeks ago. I noticed on pulling the clothes out the washer that they were warm, and I always wash in cold water.
Hmmm, wonder how many units have them hooked up backwards!

Have to wonder if it was the same guy who did the installation.

Do you think goofy had some time on his hand and decided to help??

Thank you very much for posting this. Our next stay is at Kidani. I will be sure to test the water temperature before putting any clothes into the washer so I don't ruin or shrink anything!

Yes, thanks for the info. We hope to stay there soon, and I'd hate to have our clothes ruined/shrink on us!:scared1: I'll remember to test the water first.:thumbsup2

It seems this might be a more widespread problem than they realize. Those who are traveling to Kidani in the next few weeks please report back what you find.

Perhaps all of you that have experienced the problem with the washers should report it to someone higher up at Kidani. Maybe then they would send someone to check all of the washers. Or is that too optimistic on my part?

If CM's get credit for cost savings ideas, you might be able to convince someone that the reversed lines are wasting hot water $$$ and this change could save the resort money.

Otherwise the idea would go over as well as checking every room to make sure there are no burnt out lights. (which they would never do)
