Kidani Wait List

I just wanted to see if anyone is surprised by my wait list situation. I know I am. We have a ressie at AKV-Jambo for December 6th thru the 10th and at AKV-Kidani for December 11 and 12. I had initially made the Jambo ressie right at 11 months. At 10 months I decided we'd rather stay at Kidani. Well I called MS and all I could get was the 11th and 12th (Studio Savannah). I got those two dates and had them put us on the wait list for the first 5 nights. That was back in February. My wait list still has not come through. IMO that's a long time to be on the wait list keeping in mind I made the ressie at 10 months. I'm just surprised. Evidently folks are making their reservations at Kidani and not changing them.

Having a similar issue here. Reserved a 1BDR at Kidana at the 11 month mark. Earlier this year we decided to take DS and DSIL along. WE thought a 1BDR would be ok since it has the second bathroom. We went to Disney and saw the sleeping accomodations- Sleeper Chair - and got a bit nervous as we thought it might be too uncomfortable for an adult so when we got back we called to see if we could get a 2BDR. Nothing available so we have been on waitlist for 7 mos. I also checked last month for any studio view in Kadani for our week and again nothing!! We are now at the 31 day mark and I called yesterday to extend the waitlist and checked on availability- still nothing. My hopes are fading fast- we leave in 30 days. I hope you get some luck !!!

Evidently Kidani is just very popular. Well if our wait list doesn't come through, we still will have the 2 nights there to "test" it out; but I really hate moving during the middle of the vacation. I know it doesn't bother a lot of folks, but I always feel that moving day is a lost day of vacation.

That seems odd, but I had similar problems getting into AKV last year. We called at 11 months this year and have Kidani booked for the same time you are going. So I know that's at least one room that won't be freeing up. Sorry.

The other problem is how much of Kidani is declared. There is only 86 2 bedroom LO declared so far. Of those, 41 SV and 45 STD view. Not the best odds.

Okay, so if the unit hasn't been declared they can't take ressies for it. Is that correct? If so, I wonder if anymore studios will be declared between now and December. If so, maybe my wait list request would come through then.

That is correct. It has to be delcared to be booked on points even though the whole building is open. I would not hold my breath on any more uints being declared soon. The latest one was on 8/31/09 and the one before that was 11/21/08.

Oh well, at least we have a place to stay in December. I am really looking forward to that trip. Our previous two trips this year were both kind of strange in nature. I'm looking forward to a nice quite trip, just DW and myself, enjoying the Christmas decorations and activities.

Agreed for 2 reasons:

1 - It seems to take months between units being declared;

2 - Not so sure about this: Can Disney rent out those undeclared units (provided they are physically completed and inspected) for the holiday season at a premium? It'd be interesting to see if they declare them right after Jan 1st.

Yes, DVD owns the undeclared units and do with as the want. My guess on why they are taking a long time is that sales are slow for AKV. They have to declare to sell points so DVD dose not want to may points for sale at one time. A lot of extra points means units not able to rent out to CRO and no MF coming in.

I would not loose hope on more declarations between now and December, the most recent one was not that large, and the ones last Nov. and close before that cumulatively were relatively large.

Have you been calling back occasionally to check on availability of the 10th and any other contiguous days
