Just wondering whether there's more shade now in the pool area or whether they've added umbrellas near the lounges. We stayed at Kidani in '09 and there was very little shade in the pool area. Just curious how it is now and whether anyone has any current pictures.:)

Went last year in august...didn't see any shade...actually water temp was quite warm.

Darn! We may have to spend most of our pool time at Uzima Springs then. My niece, nephew and sister are very fair and I don't think they'll be very comfortable in the blazing heat with no shade.:sunny:

When we were there last August, there were lots of umbrellas near every chair that you could put up in down. I was in the shade. There is not a whole lot IN the pool, but around it, yes.

We stayed at KV last year, and again a few weeks ago. I don't think there is much shade around the pool. There are loungers with umbrellas close to the pool, and there are other loungers that are shaded with vegetation, but we found it very hard to get a lounger with shade. You had to get to the pool very early, or be very lucky to snag one of the loungers with shade. That was our impression on both of our stays at KV.

I'm the type that stays in the water the whole time we're at the pool. I sure took note of the fact that there isn't any shade in the pool itself. And let me tell you, there are some hot, hot, hot sidewalks in that pool area! I burnt my feet last year walking from the zero-entry area to the section of chairs furthest from the pool.

I'm glad someone else commented on the lack of shade there. I thought it was just me. My idea of going to the pool is lying on a beach chair in the shade, reading a book. The few times I went to the pool area at Kidani during the day, it seemed very sunny. That's one of the reasons I prefer Jambo. Although I remember reading a thread here recently where someone mentioned snakes in the bushes around the hot tub, so now I'm not so sure.

Really, snakes? I hope my sister isn't lurking somewhere on the DIS, she'd totally freak out if she read this! And I haven't told her about the love bugs yet.

There is plenty of shade by the hot tub. I am fair skinned and sit there often. On snakes the one and only time we stayed at Jambo there was a pigmy rattler close to the door to get into Jambo house.

Do you wish to read any of the posts about reports of snakes in the pools at the resorts or water parks?!?! :rolleyes1

Sorry - my bad.

All right now you have totally ruined my pool time next spring at Kidani pool!!!!We stayed @ Kidani awhile ago and we at the pool ,by the hot tub and all I could think about was how perfect the area was for snakes.....never could really relax there. And yes I have seen a snake in the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon....hard pressed to take that trip again!!LOL !!!! The area we were in at the Kidani pool had plenty enough shade for my very pale DH.
