Kidani Open Mouse 4/22!!

Is the white thing the safe (not a wall safe like other resorts)?

It seems to take up considerable space. Is this standard in all Kidani room sizes?

Yes, it i a bigger safe, but it is also the modern kind with a code. I hate the safes they have in other DVC units with the "outdated" key. We lost one and had to pay $50.00 this is much better.

Oh my goodness all these pictures are just wonderful. June 13th can not come soon enough. The resort looks so beautiful and the pool area really looks like a lot of fun. :dance3:

We'll be there May 17. I'm prone to get up early, go to whatever resort's QS spot, and get breakfast for everyone and bring it back to the Villa as the rest of the crew is getting ready.

Lordy, it looks like it's gonna be a haul from Mara back to Kidani Village. Maybe there'll be some b'fast offerings by the pool ... ?

I appreciate the pictures. Thanks so much.

Am I the only one who is a little underwhelmed by the look of Kidani?
I was expecting a much grander lobby and maybe some updating in the decor of the rooms and appliances.
It seems like Jambo-lite and I was hoping for such a large, brand new resort, it would be even better than what I see at Jambo.
Maybe seeing it in person is entirely different.

Again, thanks to all for the pictures!

That's funny. I was thinking the exact opposite. I expected it to be a lot smaller than Jambo, but not as elaborate either. From the pictures I thought it looked beautiful. We were going to try to get into OKW in Jan to save on points, but I think we may need to splurge and consider AKV if we can get in.

We leave for VWL Friday and stay until the 2nd. We'll definitely plan on making it over there to check it out next week.

Thanks for the great pictures. I don't have small kids, I know they would have loved the Umanji Camp areas.

Everything looks great so far. Can't wait for our stay here in August.

Actually, it was about what I expected, if not a little nicer as far as the decor. I am still very disappointed in the lack of a CS restaurant. It's going to be a long haul to Mara. Frankly, I hope the fancy restaurant doesn't attract many customers and they turn it into CS. IMO the AKL/V complex doesn't need three fancy restaurants but they need more than one CS.

I found that even Jambo house was much better in real life than in the photos. When we looked at photos on line, Jambo never did much for me. I wasn't interested in staying there, but the kids wanted to, and when we went in the first time, I was wowed by the place.

So for those that aren't impressed, maybe Kidani just doesn't photograph well.

We're headed there for a few days in September, and would love to see more photos of the slide.

Three fancy restaurants? I count Jiko and Sanaa. Are you counting Boma? (I'd never count a buffet as fancy...so maybe it's just your choice of words and you really mean 3 TS restaurants?)

I LOVE the look of Kidani and am very happy to have AKL my home resort! The lobby, common areas, pool, restaurants, community hall, library etc are all beautiful. We bought AKL after touring the units but hadn't visited the acutal property til after signing the papers. We were blown away by the lobby at Jambo and it looks like most of the reasons why we like that lobby are also at Kidani. When we vacation, I want to be transported someplace else, and AKL does that big time.

Excellent point about the photography. Yes, Kidani's Lobby is MUCH smaller than Jambo house's which is down right gargantuan. Keep in mind that Kidani's Lobby is still pretty darn big. It's supposed to be more intimate and home-like.

I don't recall seeing walkways overlooking the lobby in any images we've seen yet - but if there are, I'm sure a shot from up there looking down would give us a better idea of the layout of the area. At ground level there's just too much to take into the shot to get a clear image.

Personally I am VERY happy with what I have been seeing. I LOVE it and it's much better than I expected. I am disappointed with lack of CS but we will make due.. As long as the pool offers something at lunch. We only need something 1-2 days.. We rarely eat breakfast because we are at the parks at rope drop...

I am so excited to arrive on 6/6...

I am loving it so far--I love the "homey" details like the library room, the lanterns in the alcoves at the porte cochere, etc. I think the decor looks very well done, and I love the little proverbs they've put around the resort. December can't come soon enough!

I have now decided I do indeed own at the most beautiful resort :thumbsup2 :worship:

there is such attention to detail and care taken in the making of this resort..the whole thing is a work of art!

it is funny as I am very much into animals and my dh always thought AKV would be my favorite because of the animals. When we visited it the first time, the animals were nice , but not great. I first owned OKW as I LOVE the light happy colors(didn;t like WVL too dark and dreary for me)
then, i stayed there with my son and fell in love with Boma's and the whole resort and seeing kidani now just confirms to me why i like AKV..it is simply beautiful and I cant think of one other disney resort that begins to compare. while it is a "dark resort" like WVL it just seems to offer more in so many ways..

thanks all for pics and links as you have been finding them!!
