Kidani, June UY and 08 points add on Question?

I called my guide last week regarding an add on at Kidani Villiage. I have a June UY.

Without checking, my guide told me June UY 08 points were not available. Now, someone I know did an add on for a December UY and DID receive the points this weekend.

Since Kidani technically opens in May, should there be 08 June points out there? Is it worth calling back over? I was pretty close to adding on when I found out I'd get no extra points....

Last year for Kidani you could pick up 08 points but I do not think they had use years as far back as June for Kidani. Also, though there have been variances over time, they have many times in the past refused to provide points for a use year when you are only a couple months away from the beginning of the next use year.

When we added on last August we specifically asked for a contract with 2008 points. There were none available and we were put on a waiting list for a contract with them. The next day one came thru.

Now this was last Aug so I have no idea what it is like now. It wouldn't hurt to ask if you could still do this but I would not count on it.

BTW, we have a June UY and our original Kidani contract also had 2008 points with it (hence my lovely banked points balance )

We also added on at AKV last September and we have an August UY. We were originally told by our DVC rep that we would get the 2008 points, but when the contract came in the mail, it showed August 2009 as the beginning date for our points - it was explained to me that they did not have any more August Jambo points, and that we were getting Kidani points (but in the grand scheme of things, AKV points are AKV points).

I just bought AKV and wanted a December UY with 2008 points. I was told there were none available for Kidani, and if I waitlisted for Jambo points I couldn't get the current incentives! Again, I don't understand why they couldn't give the current incentives since it is the same AKV as soon as it opens. Not like my "Kidani" points are any better/different than someone else's "Jambo" points.

So we compromised and got an October UY, which meant we had points for this November and didn't have to "borrow". When I talked to a QA manager she told me I couldn't get any 2008 points no matter what the UY, period. Okayyyy....

Well this certainly sours the deal I was working out in my mind for a 50 point add on... our use year is August, and it's definitely less compelling a proposition without 2008 points.

If I recall correctly, in the early days of Kidani sales DVC did sell contracts that started with the June 2008 UY. I remember being surprised that they offered June '08 points since there was so little overlap between the end of the UY and the opening of Kidani. With a May 1st occupancy date, those points were valid for stays from May 1, 2009 - May 31, 2009 so I suspect that most people who got those points ended up banking them. Given that, it wouldn't surprise me if they offered a very limited number of June 2008 points and that there are none left with just over a month left in the June '08 UY.

I was one of those people. I bought 100 points at the end of June 2008 and got the 2008 points. As a teacher, I knew I would not be able to use the points this May, so I banked them. (I'm using them in July at Hilton Head! Can't wait!!!) Actually, I had a March UY at first and was told I would have 2008 points, but when the contract came in, it said my UY was March 2009. I called and changed to June, especially since I was having reservations about the March UY anyway. When I got my new contract, it stated my UY was June 2008.
