Kidani AKV Owner pts??

Was speaking with my sister in law tonight and they recently purchased AKV at Kidani. Think they bought in Aug and have a Dec UY.

She was telling me that they have to wait until May to go because they can not use their normal points until Kidani opens. They just came back but used their Dev pts.

I thought that was odd, that her UY starts in Dec but that they don't get their points until May when the villa opens.

We recently added on at BLT and according to the member website it looks like our points for BLT are available at the start of us 2009 UY (Aug).

Is she mistaken or is it true that owners don't "get" the points until the villa actually opens?

This is true and the best I can explain (in my simple fashion of understanding this ) is that is has to do with "reciprocity" - - your resort is under construction so you can't use your points at any other DVC resort until your resort opens . . . in other words prior to BLT opening if you were allowed to use your BLT points at BWV prior to September 2009 for example there is no "availability" for BWV owner to book at BLT (because BLT is not open as of yet )

You get your points, but cant use them til the opening of your home resort. You can start making reservations, but they cant be a date before the opening of AKV2.

I have a December use year also. I will get my points in December, but if I want to use them at my home resort, my ressie needs to be for May 1 or after. We are going to SSR in Jan. on developer points.

If you have Kidani points you can't use them at any DVC resort prior to Kidani opening.

You can however make reservations for after May 1 or later with those points ( if you wanted to book SSR for example for a stay beginning June 24 2009 you would be able to call MS tomorrow and use Kidani points for that stay because you are at 7 month booking window and that stay would begin after May 1 2009 )

Interesting, that's definitely not how it was explained to us when we purchased. Maybe I just misunderstood and didn't ask questions to clarify since I knew we were going to be staying on developer points in Jan. and wouldn't be going again before May!
