Kid who does not want to ride

Just meaning that not everyone's anxiety is as simple as learning a life lesson. I think some have situational anxiety which is normal when growing up and can be helped through life lessons like not everyone wins or it is okay to be afraid and still try it out. Those are situations where guidance through a situation can be very benefitial and is a "life lesson".

Also yes I clearly meant effective. Of course though on the internet nobdoy lets grammar slide even if it was pretty clear what I meant. As I stated it is great it works for you but that is't always the best approach for every single type of anxiety or panic disorder.

Thanks for the clarification - I only ask when using the incorrect word changes the meaning of the statement. It's hard to tell intent from a written statement.

It can take many steps to overcome anxiety - but it can't be overcome if those steps aren't started. It can take multiple failures, painful ones, to make any progress. Of course the person has to be willing to try, ready to try, and an expensive vacation might not be the best place to start. Everything is a life lesson, if I understand your definition. Some are just harder to deal with, and need a lot of therapy, effort, and time. I agree that there's a place and time for that too, and vacation isn't always the best place or time for some.

I was nine years old when I first went to Disneyland-and my older cousins wanted to take me on California Screamin'. I had never been on an upside down rollercoaster before. I was terrified. Legitimately terrified. Yes, I cried. The CM at the loading gate talked me down before letting me board and offered me ice cream after the ride. So, I don't see any problem with forcing children onto a ride, but I think there's a genuine difference. I hate drop rides like Tower of Terror, even though I've never been on Tower of Terror specifically. No way in hell anyway was ever going to get me to go on that. So I think there's a difference between genuinely won't do and just being stubborn about not doing.

Additionally, I do have an anxiety disorder that has been around since I was a young child. Everyone deals with anxiety differently, but I also think that there's some cases where the best way to handle it is to just push through it. Not in every case, though, certainly.
