Is there any place to read kid reactions to various rides? My DS 7 is a little nervous about Test Track, and we'd love to see what other kids his age thought of it. We have the Birnbaum for Kids guide, but the kid reviewers seem to be a little older. :hmghost:

The Unofficial Guide has good reviews for different age groups. That being said, my 7 year old won't go on anything that seems remotely fast, loud, dark, etc and I got him to go on TT in June and he liked it. Now my 6 y.o is the opposite, the louder, faster, darker the better. He LOVES Test TRack.

Tell him it's like driving down the freeway in a convertible car with the top down. Then he'll probably think it's cool. :)

We took out nephew (8) to WDW once and he was afraid to go on Space Mtn. We told him it was like flying in a rocket ship thru space. We also went on the TTA ride that goes thru SM so he could get a glimpse of it before hand. Once he thought of it as being sort of like an astronaut, he wanted to go and it became one of his favorite rides. I think sometimes, it's all about the presentation.

hth.

Tell him my 7 yr old son loved it! We rode it multiple times even using the single rider line so he could go on it more times. So my 7yr DS was willing to sit all by himself to get to go on it more times.

Before he went on it the first time he asked what it was like and we said it was a combination of riding with his 2 Aunts.... he laughed and said it's that fast and jerky!

My DGS age 4 rode it last year. He was a little nervous when it went fast (think car going down the road), but once he got off he wanted to ride again! He was also a little unsure about BTMRR the first time through but asked to ride it again the next day. Just no telling how kids will react.

We went when DS was 6 and again when he was 7 and he did every ride with no problems but that was before Mission Space and Rockin Roller Coaster so I don't know if he would have liked those then. Make sure to watch the planning video, and previous years videos or travel videos if you can find them. That gives them a better idea what to expect. If they are still not sure, ask kids getting off the rides if they liked it!

Oh and for Tower of Terror try not to sit next to a big person - last time we were with my BIL and because he is a bigger guy, the lap bar wasn't tight for me and DS so we kind of go a little airborn, kwim? It is less scary when the lapbar is tight against your lap!

Has he rode other big rides before? When my DD14 was almost 7 we went and she LOVED it. She was screaming faster! faster! and was disappointed at how "slow" it went. But she is a daredevil. My son is about 3/2 years older tha nher and a chicken. He liked that ride though. He hated tower of Terror. She rode that 7 times in a row.

You just never know what they are gonna do as all kids are different. We took DD the first time when she was 4 and we were certain she would come off of the tower of terror screaming..NOPE she rode it 3 times in a row after that. We thought she would like Dinosaurs because well...she likes dinosaurs and she came off of it crying. (I was rather scared on it too..lol) We thought that the Haunted Mansio would scre here and she loved it , but freaked out when we took her on Pirates of the Carribean....so you just never know!!!:goodvibes All I can say is try it, and see what happens!!! Have FUN!!

My ds was 3 almost 4 when he rode TT (he's really tall) and he loves it! My DH told him they were chasing the joker (big Batman fans here) and made it so much fun for him that now it is one of his favorite rides! It's not really scary and the fast part at the end is fun. I think at 7 he'll be fine. princess:

How about the bugs Life 3D thing at AK? I have a 2yo DD. Will it be too scary for her?

And Goofy's barnstormer? Any of your 2YO ride that one as well?

We haven't done A Bug's Life because we read that it was very scary for kids and my kids get freaked out by the scary 3-D stuff. Goofy's Barnstormer is fine for a 2 year old. We did it when my oldest ds was 2. I would also stay away from Dinosaur from what I have read. HTH.

My DS will ride anything but is always scared beforehand with a million questions. He rode TT at 4 and has loved it ever since. He was scared of It's Tough to be a Bug at 4 and had to sit in my lap. He was hesitant to try it again but did and now is fine. Dinosaur still scares him and he's 9. There are a lot of things jumping out at you in that one!

For a young child, "It's Tough to be a Bug" will be scary. There's parts where it's completely dark, and another part where BIG spiders drop down over the audience from the ceiling. And Hopper (I think that's what the big grasshopper guy is called) is also kind of scary.:scared1:

On the other hand, Goofy's Barnstormer is great. A good coaster for the little ones.:thumbsup2

My DS7 rode TT last August for the first time ever and loved it - he was so excited when we got off he was screaming "this was awsome!!!" and the CM let us get right back on and ride again! My DS was very apprehensive at first, but once he did it the first time, he wanted to go again and again.

That same son still doesn't really care for "A Bug's Life" - and absolutely hated "Philharmagic" when he went on at 3 - hated the 3-D with things coming at him. He loved Barnstormer when he was 3.

You asked what DS 7 has been on before. At age 6, he rode:
Barnstormer - Liked It
Soarin' - Loved it!
EE - Claims he liked it, but never wants to go on it again.
Kali River - Loved it!
Splash Mt. - Liked it.

I'm trying to figure out if he will enjoy ToT and Test Track.
I know all kids are different, but DIS people seem to have good ideas, or have been through this before. Thanks for your help, everyone! :thumbsup2

my cousin is the same age (scare-di-cat), now it's all he talks about. I told him it what his daddy car goes though before giving them to the dealership.

I don't like Bug's Life at all and neither did my kids..It is dark and just too many things that are scary to kids. Also at the very end the bee comes at you and he "stings" you in the butt. It is actually high pressure air, but it kinda hurts and I can only imagine how much worse it feels to a young child. If you will look on the bench you sit on in the theater you will see holes in the seats and that is where it comes out at.

We loved all of the other 3D shows!!!:wizard:

My DS rode it at 4 y/o and loved it
Yes my DD rode it when she was 3.5 years old.. she liked all the rides that she was tall enough to go on.. except the Dino Ride in AK.. we went on and had no idea what the ride was supposed to be like.. too scary for her and I help my hands over her eyes the whole time

I rode the dino ride years ago, and I still remember it being scary.
