Kid Meal Sizes

So you know how in the non Disney World, sometimes your kids order a kids quesadilla and it’s as big as the table and other times it’s like the pies of a Trivial Pursuit game? Which way does Disney lean?

My kids will be 9 and 10 on our trip, so straddling that kid/adult line. They are decent eaters and somewhat adventurous when pushed but would be happy with cheeseburgers and hot dogs all week too! I know at table service, my 10 year old is a Disney adult, but are there QS kids meals that are a bit more generous on the portion? Or kids meals that are pretty tiny that we should avoid and order up? Last trip they were 5 and 6 so firmly in the kids meal camp! Thanks!

It really depends where you eat; and how full you want to be. We like to order off the kids menu (my kids are 15 and 18!) so that we aren't OVER full to walk around in the heat and ride coasters and spinny rides. It also leaves room for snacks - and we still make sure to tip well so servers generally don't mind.

Great kids meals - Jungle Skipper (steak or chicken and GREAT sides); Coral Reeef; Sunshine Seasons (pre-Covid); Satuli; and Regal Eagle.

Remember that you won't find just hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nuggets and pizza for kids' meals. There will be all sorts of things. You might not find any of these at some places.

Thanks! I guess I meant they’d order it everywhere, but I tend to say you can order each thing once and then you gotta try something else and then they’re like ok, clam chowder or beef kabob or whatever! But it’s not their first choice, lol! But... a hot dog is a pretty standard size vs a possible tiny cup of clam chowder. If that makes sense! We generally pick what sounds good to us and don’t worry about the kids meal aspect since they’ll eat most anything, but I’d love to save a few bucks and keep them on the kids menu when possible!

Thanks! We are hopping for Skipper Canteen and Hollywood Brown Derby as our TS so that’s great to know!,

Skipper Canteen is truly our favorite. I order the steak there, and the Monkey Bites are one of my favorite treats at Disney; my son loves their steak fries! Have fun!

It depends on where you eat. My daughter wanted to know where the other half of her grilled cheese was when we ate at Woody's Lunchbox lol.

It varies a lot by location. When my kids were in the 'in between' age, we'd usually err on the cheaper side and order from the kids menu if they saw something on it they wanted, with the promise of getting a snack right away if they happened to still be hungry (which rarely happened). Also, just wanted to point out that your 10 year old can order from the kids menu at TS restaurants too if he/she wants, unless of course it's a fixed price meal.
