Kick'n It at Kidani (aka Am I Becoming a Resort Snob?)Final Update 8/20 p.54

CSR looks beautiful! My goodness. It's intriguing me alright! :goodvibes

LL.... If you stayed there you would have your camera going non stop. Seriously, you take the best pictures all ready. I can only imagine what you would find to photograph there!

Mary Ellen, As a DVC member, I know you were allowed to swim at both Jambo and Kidani. If I am staying at Jambo (as non-DVC) are we still allowed to swim in the pool at Kidani? (Then, my girls could compare the waterslides.)

Oh.... you can definately swim at both, although you will need your key card to get into the Kidani pool. There is a locked gate entrance. I would definately recommend visiting both pools, if time permits. They are both different cause one is the crystal, clear blue water (Kidani) and the other is the sandy bottom appearance (Jambo). LJ definately thought there was a difference in the two slides. I hope you have a great stay!

I am :rotfl2: about the Darth Vader picture!!! Great find, Shocker!

MEK, more beautiful CSR pictures -- you are right -- you can never have too many!

Thanks CP. I almost missed this post at the bottom of the page. If I have time at work today I will try to write about our final day because it is pretty much pictureless. Which is sad. I regret that I didn't take pictures right up until the final moment.....like getting on the plane, which we barely made on time! :rotfl:

Oh, I love all the different angles you got of the pool pyramid!!! It really looks like an ancient Mayan temple in the middle of the jungle!

I have nightmares about people chasing me, too. The other night I dreamed Darth Vader was chasing me through the mall.

Glad you like the pics. I actually don't remember where I was standing to get those pictures. I do know one thing....I was NOT standing in the pool when I took them. :rotfl:

Are you serious about the Darth Vader nightmare????? You made Shocker stay up late searching for the perfect picture! :surfweb:

All he wanted was a few of your coins......:rotfl2:

darthvader.jpg

This picture is freak'n HYSTERICAL! :worship: Where ever do you find these things?

Just getting caught up and it's almost over. Sorry your crocs melted but it was sooo stinkin hot!
I loved the picture tour of CSR I really haven't ever seen any and it's really very beautiful there!
Can't wait to see what you decide for you last (boo hoo) day...

It is ALMOST over, but not quite. Glad you like the pictures of CSR. It is the most photogenic resort, IMHO. I really loved walking aroun there.

I only have work nightmares!:scared1:

Hopefully THOSE dreams don't cause you to wake up at night screaming! :scared1:

Oh My! I got behind somehow!

Sorry about the nightmare! That's crazy! I get nightmares too but not very often! Since I've been on the thyroid medication I have really strange dreams though!

Great pictures of CSR! They're all so beautiful!!

I didn't think I had nightmares very often either, but apparently I do! And who knew I was so suseptible to suggestions! I suspect a hypnotist would love me! Glad you like the pics.

Wow! More fantastic resort shots!:) You must have been up really early though because there are no people around in any of them!

I really wasn't up that early. I think we walked between 8 - 9am. I'm not sure why there were so few people up, because during the night time the place was normally packed with people. Maybe everyone was leaving????

I love all the resort pics. It looks beautiful. In some cases you'd never even know you're in Disney!

Hurrah for making this TR last a bit longer and for the "promise" of the next one! :yay:

Sorry 'bout the nightmares. :scared:

Glad you like the pics.

Yeah....I'm going to drag my feet for awhile until I completely wrap this up!

I just wish I had a longer trip coming up to write about. I guess I'm going to have to run morning, noon, and night to have plenty of material to write about.

O.K. Are you sure you are not employed by Disney?!!!! Your pics of CSR are great, I am a total resort snob (your title of this TR totally hooked me!) anyhow I have tossed around staying at CSR. I only stayed at one other moderate - POR for a short couple of day trip w/ my mom, actually liked it! Now after your brochure type pics thinking CSR should really now be on our list to try as a family. It truly looks very pretty, and as mentioned before, now with queen beds, is another selling feature. So, maybe a split stay?!! Thanks again for the great pics, really enjoying them.

I'm so glad you like the pics. Like I said, this resort was so photogenic. There is so much to work with there and I love all the walking paths along the moderate resorts. This is one resort where I think the pictures do the resort justice. So many times pictures do not do a resort justice, but that is not the case with CSR.

And, yes, I am secretly employed by Disney to get more DISers to book more trips. LOL! :rotfl: (I wish)

Let me know if the link to Lurkyloo's TR helps you find the siemens lounge pics. I can't search for them now cause I can't see the pics at work!

I'm not quitting on you!! I'm in it til the end! Just sad to see it coming to an end!!

Awww. Thanks.

Great pictures, MEK! I'm with ya on the nightmare thing... sometimes I just talk in my sleep :rotfl: I get nightmares quite a bit but it usually involves me trying to run, or scream, and not being able to! That's the worst!!

Those pictures of CSR were really fabulous-I've been reading a lot of really good stuff recently about it-and your pictures really make it look very nice...

(I'd like to give my dd her 16th bd at WDW next year and she loved the WL but I'd like to have some mods to think about-and your pictures definately inspire me to check it out...:goodvibes)

Oh, yeah.... I've had dreams like that, too. I also used to have disaster dreams - being in a car accident, being hit by a tidal wave, dropping in an elevator (no wonder ToT still freaks me out a bit). Glad you like the pics!

I'm glad you like the pics. I have to tell you that my DS16 liked CSR a lot better than AKL. I think there were more teenagers there and that really apealed to him. I think the mods are great for people who don't mind spread out spaces. I'm sure it is a notch down from WL, just like it was from AKL, but it was certainly pretty. Could luck deciding where to stay.

Ok, CSR is definitely on the list if we do a non FW cabin mod stay! It is SO pretty! I could see the kids just loving it.

I hear you on the nightmares...mine usually involve trying DESPARATELY to communicate something, to someone, and I'm screaming in my head. But no sound comes out.

DH has falling ones

Darth Vader through the mall though CP, that's priceless! As is Shockers pic.

So what did we do on our last day????? Where did we go???? What did we see????

Well....After DH and I walked around the lake and took many pictures, we got back to the room to find Nick sleeping and LJ watching TV. It was already sooooo hot and it was only 9am. I just laid down on the bed and started to drip sweat. That's when I looked at my DH and said, " I can't go outside today. I don't care what we do, but it has to be indoors. No parks, no pools, just strict A/C". I knew our flight didn't leave until 5:20pm and we needed to be out of that cool, air conditioned room by 11am. I suggested the movies, the mall, and then.....ta da........Disney Quest!

Now I am not a huge fan of Disney Quest (DQ), but I knew it was indoors and it would be cool. Four members of our group already had DQ park passes, so we just needed passes for DH and LJ. So once the decision was made we packed up the van pretty quickly and made our way to DTD. Unfortunately, DQ didn't open until 11:30am. I thought it would open a tad earlier, but we just waited and we were the second group through the turnstyles.

Once we got inside, DS16 and his friend decided they rather go see a movie. :confused3 So they hung out for a few minutes and then split. They wanted to see the Hangover movie, but they needed an adult to get them in. So they ended up seeing Terminator 4 (I think?????). In the meantime, the rest of us headed to Cyber Space Mtn. We were able to quickly construct some coasters and get on board. And this....my dear readers......was when I realized that LJ is a serious thrill ride junkie. I realized that any limitations I put on him where completely unnecessary. He was born to ride. :thumbsup2

LJ and Nick constructed a level 4 coaster, while DH and I went wimpy and constructed a level 2 coaster. I wasn't quite ready to go upside down. I needed to work up to it. Well, Nick and LJ were already on there coaster by the time DH and I were ready to load. So I snuck a peak at them. Talk about hysterical :rotfl2: Nick looked like he was being pushed back in his seat and his cheeks looked like they were being pushed back into his face. He did not like comfortable. LJ, on the other hand, looked totally relaxed. His facial expression was a full grin and if he was feeling any G force at all, you sure couldn't tell.

My level 2 coaster was completely wimpy, so DH and I went back and built a new one by putting in a few loops and corkscrews. It notched us up to a level three. Wow - we were getting a little braver! That coaster was fun, but still a little lame. LJ and Nick made a level 5 coaster. LJ just grinned his way through it. I thought about doing one more coaster, but now there was a line, so we decided to try something else.

It has been 3 years since I last visited DQ. I've only been there twice before and my impression has always been - eh! But today I living in the luxury of AC, so I couldn't think of any other place I would rather be. We went up to the next level to play some arcade games, ski ball, pin ball, and air hockey. I found this really cool arcade shooting game that reminded me of TSM. Definately not the same, but it was still fun and I could play it as much as I wanted. No fast pass required. :laughing:There was one ride that was closed and we did not do the car ride where you shoot balls at each other (can't think of the name). I thought the boys would want to do that one, but they just kept jumping from one thing to another and skipping right over it. It was nice to be able to walk right up to a game and play without waiting.

By now our stomachs were growling, so we decided the easiest thing to do would be to just get lunch there. I forget what we had, but I know that LJ's order was probably the ever predictable chicken nuggets and french fries. After lunch we went to the lower level to ride the raft ride (jungle cruise) and the pirates of the caribbean. OK - the POC ride was really fun. Way better than I remember. We only waited about 10 or 15 minutes to get on and we had a whole boat to ourselves. I got to be the captain and steer the boat. I loved it and I think I did a pretty good job. I could have done this ride all day. While we were still on the first level, we played the video game inside the jeeps. It invloved a lot of shoting. Sorry I can't remember many of the names of the games we played.

By now, DS 16 and his friend had returned from the movies. We played some more arcade games and then I remembered to look at my watch. :scared1: Crap - I had really lost track of time. It was 3:15pm. We needed to leave. Pronto! So I told everyone - finish up and be in the gift shop by 3:30. "We need to leave for the airport. Now". Our flight leaves at 5:20. Of course, everyone took their good old sweet time and I was sending text messages like crazy to try to get everyone downstairs. Then everyone had to have one more look in the gift shop. LJ picked out one more pin and DH bought it for him.

Finally everyone was in the super hot car and we were headed to a gas station. The stop at the gas station took us out of the way. We had to back track to get to the airport. I remember trying not to stress, knowing that we were really running behind schedule. I do like on site car rentals though. It's so easy to just pull up, get up, and go. We lugged everything to the airline check-in, only to find a long line. I have to tell you - this is how much my Brother and SIL travel - they didn't even have a rolling suitcase for LJ. Fortunately, one of the boys carried it.

We reached another long line at security and finally made it on and off the tram. Of course the older boys declared they were hungry. "All we had was popcorn at the movies". So they head for pizza. Once everyone gets their food, the boys go to sit down in the food court. Here's when I wanted to freak, just a little. I said, "Get up. Now. We don't have time to sit here. Our plane leaves soon, Really soon." I honestly did not know what time it was and I didn't even want to check, because I didn't want my little freak to turn into a big freak. So I herd everyone down to our gait. I kid you not....we had not been in our seats for more than 1 minute when they started calling for the A group to board. :scared: sheesh....talk about cutting it close. That was a little too close for me. I got up and practically ran for one final bio break before we boarded.

Up next..... the final CSR pictures, our final good byes to LJ, and my final thoughts. Plus the epilogue (Niagara falls) and the September food fest.

Looks like you had lots of fun in DQ. I have never been there but I am sure I will someday.....last year when I took my nephews for their first trip (16 and 14) I never told them about DQ and that it even existed!!! :rotfl: Ooops!! :lmao:
You were making me nervous with the airport!! Phew!
No rolling luggage!! Oh my!! :sad2:
Tracy

It sounds like even though you didn't go to the parks you still had a really great last day at Disney. I'm sure the air-conditioning was a welcome relief! You must have been going crazy worrying about making your flight! I was getting nervous just reading about it! :rotfl: I'm sad to see your report coming to a close but I'm looking forward to hearing all about your Sept plans!:)

I don't know how you managed to not freak - gift shop, gas station, and food break, wow!:scared1:

We haven't been to DQ, yet. I think my girls will be tall enough for everything at DQ when we return next summer, so I am looking forward to it.

What a great way to spend your last day in Disney:goodvibes I would never have thought of DQ, probably because I don't get past the stores in the Marketplace without them calling to me to spend the rest of my money:lmao:

I would have had an absolute, total, head spinning around, freak-out if we cut it that close. I am a freak and I'm ok with it....I think:lmao: I'm that person who lives 10 minutes from the airport and checks my purse 15 times on the way there that we have our passports:rotfl2:

I would have had a big freak. And probably a big yell and a "too bad, you should have eaten earlier!'

lol. Glad you made the plane, that is SOOOOO stressful!

Wow!! I'd be having a little freak, but my DH would be having a super freak! A 5:20 flight and you were still in DQ at 3:30?? :faint:

Whew!! I was so relieved that you made it!!

We've never done DQ but it sounds like teen heaven...

I'd probably make a "wimpy" coaster, too!!

I do think CSR is a good place for teens/young adults. At least it was the days I was there. I didn't see any body attending conventions.

Oh...I hate the trying to scream, but can't nightmares. And falling ....not fun either!

Looks like you had lots of fun in DQ. I have never been there but I am sure I will someday.....last year when I took my nephews for their first trip (16 and 14) I never told them about DQ and that it even existed!!! :rotfl: Ooops!! :lmao:

Tracy

We did have fun in DQ. It was just what I needed. I won't make it a regular habit, but I would like to do POC again. That was really fun!

If I had known about the lack of wheels, I would have brought him a rolling suitcase. :rolleyes1

We did have a great last day. I didn't want to go....as evidenced by the fact that I almost forgot we had to leave. I was so happy to be cool for a change, that it slipped my mind!

Amazingly, I probably should have been a bit more nervous about missing the flight, but when you're around 5 boys/men who have their head in the sand most of the time(insert shocker picture here), their clueless attitude starts to rub off.

Sept plans coming soon!

I don't know how you managed to not freak - gift shop, gas station, and food break, wow!:scared1:

We haven't been to DQ, yet. I think my girls will be tall enough for everything at DQ when we return next summer, so I am looking forward to it.

See comment above....head in sand...what more can I say? I'm sure you're girls will love DQ. There is a lot to do and it wasn't crowded on a Monday!

What a great way to spend your last day in Disney:goodvibes I would never have thought of DQ, probably because I don't get past the stores in the Marketplace without them calling to me to spend the rest of my money:lmao:

Well.....there was a brief moment where I did conside my emergency Xanax....but I opted for the "head in sand" approach. DQ is good for a look-see. DQ was a lifesaver for another day of scorching temps.

You know, I've never been to DQ, not had any desire to do so but you make it sound really fun!

I would have had a big freak. And probably a big yell and a "too bad, you should have eaten earlier!'

lol. Glad you made the plane, that is SOOOOO stressful!

Like I said, I've only been to DQ a grand total of three times. The first time was our second trip to Disney and I kept feeling like we were missing valuable park time, plus it was crowded. The second time was when we didn't have a car and we went to DTD to pick up the WL bus. We had some time to kill so we went to DQ. Don't remember having good or bad feelings about it. This time ......all I can say is "Thank God For DQ and AC". :worship:

I'm actually glad everyone ate a little something, because we ended up having a longer than expected flight. We were in the air for about 3 hours instead of the normal 2 hours. I know that is nothing for you guys on the left coast, but we are spoiled over here!

I thought for sure you were going to miss your flight! EEEK!

I would have been freaking out, so glad that you made it. Phew!

I was right -- you headed to Disney Quest!!! Thank goodness for air conditioning! :thumbsup2

What a nail biter your trip to the airport turned out to be! I would have been majorly freaking out! :scared:

Kathy

When we leave to go somewhere we are usually at the airport way ahead of time. Everyone gets mad because we are there so early. "Mom...why are we here already?" is the usual lament. This was highly unusual behavior for us. Maybe I was relaxed because my last three late afternoon flights out of Orlando involved departure delays. I guess I thought we would get there to find a flight delay. Silly me! :confused3 Who knew?

What....you think my roller coaster was WIMPY?

I was right -- you headed to Disney Quest!!! Thank goodness for air conditioning! :thumbsup2

What a nail biter your trip to the airport turned out to be! I would have been majorly freaking out! :scared:

CP you were spot on! :thumbsup2 Of course, you would know better than anyone since you experienced the rath of that stinkin' heat. Just admit....weren't you, just once, tempted to run for the AC and stay there...all day?????

You know .....we had a similiar airport incident last year were we lost the keys to rental car and we barely, I mean barely, got there in time to pick up DS 16's friend at the airport. He flew down by himself because we spent the first few days of the trip at Vero Beach. He was literally coming down the steps to the baggage claim when we got there! :scared:

I thought for sure you were going to miss your flight! EEEK!

I would have been freaking out, so glad that you made it. Phew!

Just thank your lucky stars you don't have to travel with one DH and 4 boys under the age of 17. You have years to wait until you have to endure such pleasure!

CP you were spot on! :thumbsup2 Of course, you would know better than anyone since you experienced the rath of that stinkin' heat. Just admit....weren't you, just once, tempted to run for the AC and stay there...all day?????

Oh yes -- there were times -- there were even times when I refused to leave the sanctuary of AKL to brave anything remotely resembling heat!
